Here are some bands that I would recommend from my area:
Wolven Ancestry - http://www.myspace.com/wolvenancestry
Will Of The Ancients - http://www.myspace.com/willoftheancients
Sig:Ar:Tyr - http://www.myspace.com/sigartyr
Battlesoul - http://www.myspace.com/battlesoulmetal
Bolero - http://www.myspace.com/bolerometal
Borealis - http://www.myspace.com/borealismetal
Skull Fist - http://www.myspace.com/skullfisted

Those are quite possibly some of the funniest black metal pictures I've seen in a long time. The photoshopping is beyond bad and stupid. It's a toss up between the hawk or the bow and arrow.
Not to mention the name of the drummer is "Ass Bath". Yeah I know I added an extra S to the name, but it still sounds like it without it. Musically it seems standard black metal (good or bad, YMMV)

I have't come across a new band that I liked very much for a long time.
See these guys live if possible. They have a great show. It was almost better that whom they headlined for...

Ouch, honestly I couldn't get past 5 seconds of the music without closing my browser. Besides the music they have 2 more things going against them:
1 - Roadrunner
2 - they look like a bunch of tools
I know, "don't judge a book by it's cover". But I prejudged and I was totally right.
