Possibly not my next gig... but certainly one I'm looking forward to is the
Scepticflesh / Obscura / Devin Townsend Project / Children of Bodom
show at the end of June.

Divinity/Into Eternity fucking kicked ass. Divinity > IE I thought. "Monsters Are Real" was one of the sickest songs I've ever seen live.

Last gig: Amon Amarth yesterday. It was cool but I don't remember much of it

    Coming up a few festivals:

June 9-13 Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig (Eluveitie, Moonsorrow, Heidevolk, Finsterforst, Chtonic etc..)
June 17-18 Myötätuulirock in Finland (Ensiferum, Korpiklaani, Moonsorrow, Finntroll, Metsatöll etc...)
    July 11-17 Metalcamp in Slovenia
July 22-24 Tuska in Helsinki (Amon Amarth, Turisas, Moonsorrow, Wintersun etc..)

It looks like I will be stalking Moonsorrow (or maybe they are stalking me ) during the summer as they are playing at all the festivals I will be attending :D

Heidenfest with Turisas, Finntroll, Arkona etc... is also on my list but that will be in october, still deciding where to see it, probably Oberhausen.

All those sound great! Wish we had more cool metal fests in the US!!! So far I'm going to two fests (that I'm paying for) this summer. There are several other free music fests here - will probably go to at least a few of those. (As they say, Variety is the spice of life!)

    June 10-12: Chicago Blues Fest (free) http://www.chicagofestivals.net/categor ... s-festival
July 9-10: Chicago Folk and Roots Fest (free) http://www.chicagofolkandroots.org/ (I've seen some great world music acts there over the years)
August 5-7: Lollapalooza 20th Anniversary, Grant Park, Chicago http://www.lollapalooza.com/
August 24-27: Hole In the Sky, Bergen, Norway http://www.holeinthesky.no/

Tomorrow Hail of Bullets @ Nosturi, Helsinki! And to make the day even better, I'm going over to a friend's place for a barbecue in the afternoon. The weather is supposed to be nice (a bit over 20C in the afternoon) so it will be fun.

Still haven't decided whether to go to Myötätuulirock or not. If not, I guess we'll meet at Metalcamp then MadameLePink. :heavydrink:

Barbecues before concerts are dangerous! I usually end up being so drunk that I forget to go to the concert. Or if I get there I have no idea of what's going on stage

You'll have to come and say hello if you see me at Metalcamp (or MTR if you decide to go) so we can have a beer. I will have my pink dreadlocks so I shouldn't be too hard to spot :) I guess you don't look like your avatar ;)

Saw Sepultura, Belphegor, Hate, Keep of Kalessin, & Neuraxis last night.
Wasn't too keen on seeing the new Sepultura, but I gotta admit that they did the old tunes justice. Still don't get why both Sepultura and Cavalera Conspiracy feel the need to close with Roots, though.

    Next Up: MDF!

Last gig for me was Power Quest, with the awesome Komatoze opening for them. Stunning band, one of the best unsigned bands in the country if you ask me.

Next up is Maiden in July, although there are plenty gigs in June I fancy going too. Such a busy period for gigs though, funds rarely cover ALL the ones I want to attend!

Last gig was Rammstein on Friday (amazing show)

Next is Sunday the 29th with Acrassicauda from Iraq. For those of you who have not seen Heavy Metal in Baghdad yet, here's a link to stream the movie from the website of the group that made it: http://www.vbs.tv/watch/acrassicauda--2/heavy-metal-in-baghdad-feature and here's the link for the follow-up, Heavy Metal in Istanbul: http://www.vbs.tv/watch/acrassicauda--2/dvd-extra-heavy-metal-in-istanbul

Absolutely amazing story. I hope I get the chance to talk to the band at the show.

Saw Unleash The Archers, Order of Chaos, and some Death Metal Band on sunday in Vancouver, going to that show again friday in Calgary, as well as 3IOB thursday and Sepultura Saturday. Rob wasn't kidding, there are a lot of hot female metalheads at Vancouver metal shows. I thought I was on the boat again

Last gig was Shadowblade and Kobra and the Lotus in Canmore. Hot damn did Kobra inprove in the last little while. I'm still not completely sold on the style, but the new tracks were strong and their stage presence was enormous. The crowd (certainly fueled somewhat by alcohol) was going nuts!

Next gig will likely be Unleash the Archers and The Order of Chaos in Calgary at the distillery.
I needs me some new local discs!

When was that? I should've stopped on the way back from Van. I remember really liking their live show but not being crazy about their album. Do they have a new one coming out?

Yeah dude that was Saturday at the CanHo. They're done recording, mixing, and mastering their album.. but it likely won't see the light of day for another six months or so. I've never seen that venue so packed!

How was Vancouver? Didja do well at nationals?

Nice, I'll have to check that out. I got 6th but I couldve gotten 5th. I finished my routine so fast that I had an extra 20 seconds leftover so I just improvised and it was terrible lol.

My next gig was going to be Blackfield (Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree and Aviv Geffen) and Anathema this Friday in Chicago. The next several dates have been cancelled due to the death of Steven Wilson's father.
