What 2012 gigs/tours/fests are you stoked for? :)

    by Laura » Sat Dec 10, 2011 4:35 pm

I think it is safe to say that I may never top my 2011 year (the best of my entire life  :D ) as far as music experiences go...although, 2012 is looking pretty great already.

What I have planned (for certain) so far....(and there may be others, but the following are what come to mind at the moment.)
    January 23-27: 70K Tons of Metal round 2 (duh :P )
April 5: Paganfest America (Arkona, Turisas, Ex Deo, Alestorm, Huntress), Reggie's, Chicago
May 4: Rammstein, Allstate Arena, Rosemont, Il (have ticket)
May 18-19: Ragnarokkr Metal Apocalypse, Mojos, Joliet, Il
June 29: Ministry, The Vic Theater, Chicago (have ticket)
Summer, dates tbd: Slipknot  (when I saw Corey Taylor a few weeks ago, he said they'll do a summer US tour)
August 3-5: Lollapalooza 21st anniversary (atists tbd), Grant Park, Chicago
    Fall: Dimmu Borgir, dates tbd
Fall: Barge to Hell, dates and artists tbd
    2012: Behemoth, dates tbd
    :D

Besides the cruise, so far I'm only planning on going to FME (Finnish Metal Expo), Metalfest Croatia and Brutal Assault. Might go to Tuska and Jalometalli and some smaller in-door festivals in Helsinki, but nothing planned atm. Oh, Arcturus is playing at Nosturi in March.

This new festival was just announced today:
    http://www.steelfest.fi/

Looks like they're getting a good lineup. And with the two-day passes costing under 50 euros, not too expensive.

The festivals that I am sure to go to are:

    Metalfest Dessau
    Tuska
    Metalcamp

I will probably add one more summer festival, but I will leave the spot open until I know where Moonsorrow will be playing. They haven't announced much yet.

I am also considering Finnish metal expo and Ragnarök festival during the winter/spring but not sure.

And Copenhell also as they have announced Korpiklaani and it's in Copenhagen, so I might go even if I'm not stoked with the rest of the bands.

I will not go to Paganfest  They are not playing in Denmark and we can't go abroad in march. But ok, the only band that I am sorry I won't see is Equilibrium. I've seen all the others several times.

    Other concerts planned:
Rammstein in February (and Gnoffy will be here with us!)
    Steel Panther in March
    **
Wishlist 2013: Finntroll, Ensiferum, Septic Flesh, Primordial, Powerwolf, Heidevolk, Insomnium, Kalmah, Equilibrium, Skull Fist, Chthonic

    Beer and bananas!

    Headbangers open air for me.
If i have the spare money which i don't think i will i'd ad Muskel Rock in Sweden and Hornerfest in Germany.
Will have to see what happens but all i know is that Headbangers open air for me now is a yearly ritual.Have yet to find a festival anywwhere in the world better than it(Inlcuding the cruise ;) )

looking at all this good shit you all are going to makes me wanna cry,
I got Black Sabbath in may and thats it.
Cant plan any festivals this summer coz I may get a transfer at work
and my whole shiftplan might change.
But as long as they dont screw with the 70k it is ok.

Yeah, aside from the cruise and a couple tribute bands (Maiden n' Motorhead) in early January, the only other thing on the horizon for me would be Iced Earth and Symphony X here in February
So far at least, 2011, 2012 & 2015 were enough for me

2012 is looking pretty lean for me - but after Nightwish/Amorphis in LA followed by 70000 Tons it was always going to be downhill from there!! HAHA

Iced Earth are touring Australia in April. Not visiting my city though and it would be a logistical drama (flights, accommodation, babysitter for the squids, etc) so may not see 'em.

Kamelot have said they are touring Australia in 2012 - will ask them about that on broad next month, and tell them they MUST PLAY BRISBANE!!
