This is a great thread you started and it got me thinking about a lot of things. To begin, I generally do *not* associate love/romantic songs with metal music....at least the majority of the metal bands I listen to because relatively few use love, romance, and/or sex as lyrical content (especially those in my Barge wishlist sig ). That is why I am now going to retract what I said on an earlier post that there are *many* love songs by my favorite metal bands (which are majority folk and black with some progressive, industrial, death & symphonic thrown in) - because it turns out there just aren't that many after all that I could come up with - I think that is why I ended up throwing in a lot of 70s classic soft and hard rock in my long list on the previous page. I did manage to come up with a few more of my favorite metal bands though that have some songs having to do with love, relationships, and so on. The funny thing is though - many of the bands I've included so far here and before (especially Nightwish, Apocalyptica, HIM, Ooomph!, and even Riverside, Pain of Salvation, & Tiamat to some extent) - I don't really think of as very "metal" to begin with. (but I still am crazy about them nonetheless)
Riverside: Conceiving You (Live at the Paradiso)

Therion: Eternal Sophia

Agalloch: A Desolation Song (one of the bleakest "lost love" type songs, but which I find oddly beautiful)

Ooomph!!: Traumst Du (this video cracks me up - love it - especially the lead singer Dero )
Nevermore: The Heart Collector

Apocalyptica - I can understand why some people - especially Stach and others here - might consider 3 guys playing the cello *very* un-metal - I love these guys though - have all their albums and have seen them live - awesome!
Bittersweet (featuring Ville Valo & Lauri Ylonen) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiNipufN18w
HIM - I'm a very un-apologetic HIM and Ville Valo fan - haha, and know lots of folks probably loathe him. HIM has some of my favorite songs & videos - I have a DVD that has many of the best ones including some below. This is really more pop music in my view, but I love it. Ville calls it "love metal."
In Joy and Sorrow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVcfCHmo ... ure=relmfu
Wicked Game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBW--bgyezg

The Funeral of Hearts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMD1k16b ... ure=relmfu
Gone With the Sin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ifwf8RrU-94 (beautiful, beautiful, beautiful imo)
........and now for my favorite HIM video and one of my very favorite videos period....drum roll ...
Join Me in Death!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1V4AscLidWg
(damn - I could watch and post HIM and Ville Valo links all day - I better stop now )
And, one more from the 70s and which actually has my favorite relationship lyrics ever written!
