    NORTH AMERICAN HEADLINING TOUR ANNOUNCED!

After several sold-out shows last year on their inaugural North American co-headlining tour with ELUVEITIE, Finnish epic metallers WINTERSUN will return to North American shores once again for a headlining tour this August/September sponsored by MetalSucks! Joining them are Italian symphonic death metal champions FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, melodic tech-death ki...ngs ARSIS and up-and-comers STARKILL.

"We're thrilled to return to North America for a full-scale headliner tour in August and September! It will be our first longer own headlining tour ever and this time, without any setlist length limitations, we'll be able to offer the North American crowds a special show - representing both the Wintersun and TIME I albums. There might also be some surprises in the setlist as well... We are really looking forward to sharing the live magic with YOU, all the fans out there!" Kai, Jari, Teemu & Jukka

Wow - that's sweet - but oh darn!!  - I just got done telling the family that I was done with metal gigs until *at least* the fall (especially considering I stayed out with Kevin and co until nearly 3 am on Saturday after Bolt Thrower  :beerwink: ) because there is nothing metal this summer in Chicago that I was dying to see. And now this! Hmmm, well I did just see Wintersun last December - but very interested in seeing the other three (never have) so the bill is awesome all round.

Sweet. My woman actually regretted not going with me to wintersun in December. Now I can bring her to the August show.

Oh is that what the very special set is? I was wondering about that. How do you know this?

It's how I read this line:

Stained Class wrote:It will be our first longer own headlining tour ever and this time, without any setlist length limitations, we'll be able to offer the North American crowds a special show - representing both the Wintersun and TIME I albums.

Reading it again I guess it's open to interpretation.

Oh lol I guess I missed that line. Yeah kind of subjective but it does sound like they'll be playing ALL the songs. They played most of Wintersun last time and all of Time I and didn't call it a "special" set so it definitely seems like that's what's happening.

Oh man this show is the night before we fly out for Progpower in ATL. Between Starkill and Fleshgod I dont think ill be able to move my neck for next two weeks

Honestly, im kind of wondering what time the show in atlanta will be the next night. Might need to see if ill be able to catch some of it before Luca Turilli's set since its only 10 minutes away :P

That weekend went from "Eh, ima be a little tight on money" to "Im gonna need to slang some rock on the hard streets of ATL to afford this trip"

Oh fuck you're right, they're playing the same night in Atlanta as LT's Rhapsody and C2C...I'm already seeing them twice on this tour (montreal, Edmonton) but damn that would be great.

I've never been at any open air festivals before, but this year I'll be doing three. :bangers:
I booked NovaRock and RockHarz in February, and I finally gave up resisting the lineup at Rockstad: Falun (aka. Sabaton Open Air) this week. :beerbang:

I like Sabaton...but headlining a festival with a decent lineup? Must be hard for the egos of other bands sometimes.

Falun is their hometown, so I guess they're a default headliner when they play there.

Got back from Croatia late last night. Was an awesome trip and the Underwall Festival was fun. The headliners (Destruction and Xentrix) didn't interest me at all, but some of the smaller bands were really good. Avicularia was really good technical death metal and I'll be sure to see them at Metaldays. Rising Dream was ok, Ashes You Leave was really good girlie metal and Barbarion was hilarious.
The festival itself was great with a DIY feel to it. When we arrived on the festival area on Friday the first thing I noticed was the security guys were drinking beer too.

This week I'm going to Copenhell. Should be fun.

Hmmm.....hadn't been paying much attention to this fest at all, but somehow I'm on their email list....and there are several bands I'm interested in (not including FOB & Blink-182)....Sublime With Rome, Toots and the Maytals, Bad Brains, Motorhead, Blondie, Violent Femmes, Bad Religion, The Selector, (Black) Flag, Bob Mould, Public Enemy, and The Replacements (who was recently announced)...not gonna buy the 3 day pass for sure, but will wait to see about schedule & a single day ticket perhaps. The location is super convenient to where I live, so that is a plus.

Finally back at work after Copenhell. Well, ok, I was working yesterday, but that was just a super boring meeting in Copenhagen.
Hmm, yeah, I guess there were bands at Copenhell. Let's see, I saw Amon Amarth and didn't hate them (liked two songs to be honest), saw Ghost and didn't hate them, so maybe I need to give them another chance. Illdisposed wasn't good. Didn't see Sabaton. Saw a bit of Alestorm and hated it. Saturnus was really intense and awesome. Grave's gig would've been really good if it wasn't raining - or pouring - during it. Missed King Diamond because we were all soaked, cold and miserable.
It was a fun weekend with lots of moronic jokes and awesome memories. I might write about some of those in the rejoicing thread.

This week no festivals, but I'll be going to Äänekoski for midsummer. Next week: Tuska.

In September/October 2013 Alcest will take a break from the works on their upcoming fourth album to embark on a double-headlining USA and Canada tour with the masters of atmospheric rock, ...Anathema.

This is what Neige has to say about the tour: "We feel honored to tour with Anathema and Mamiffer. Since years Anathema is making this unique mix of prog and emotional rock. Mamiffer is the post-rock/experimental band of Faith Coloccia and Aaron Turner, talented Isis founding member and founder of Hydra Head Records. Sounds like a diverse and attractive billing! And this will also be the opportunity for us to play a few songs from our next album. See you in a few months!"

^^^ WOW!! Anathema & Alcest on the same bill? Excellent! I really only know the album Judgement by Anathema (bought it before I was to see them with Steven Wilson in 2011 (which ended up being cancelled due to the death of Wilson's father), but been meaning to check them out more. Saw Alcest (think it was with Enslaved in 2011?) and enjoyed them very much. Man, this is turning out to be a GREAT year for me musically....especially in seeing awesome bands I've not seen before!

In other news, almost bought a ticket for the Vomitory (farewell tour) gig at Reggie's end of September (based on Ville's & others strong recommendation :deathmetal: ) until I realized it's the same weekend as the 2 night (industrial) Cold Waves fest at Metro that I already have tix for. Ah well, can't do everything! :P

Amanda Kiernan-she's the lead singer of our local metal band The Order of Chaos. She has the clean and the "banshee" scream kinda thing going. They have played with Helstar in Europe and most recently with Vicious Rumours.

Might check it out. Curious how they sound with the female vocals.

Amanda Kiernan-she's the lead singer of our local metal band The Order of Chaos. She has the clean and the "banshee" scream kinda thing going. They have played with Helstar in Europe and most recently with Vicious Rumours.
Ahh.. the Vat Pub--what a place! Was there last year with Marlo and Joey to watch Jake's band Viathyn and Striker.

    That was a fun night!

So....today, Chad L informed me (love it when out of towner 70K friends give me a heads up about shows in my town that I didn't know about! ) about the tour below which will hit Reggie's on Sunday, September 15th. I am not familiar with the music of Vader  :P , but the way so many of you carry on about them, think I should try to make it. This was a similar situation with Bolt Thrower's recent Reggie's gig & and I was totally SOLD!!!

Finntroll (w/ Metsatoll and Blackguard) and Alestorm (w/ Trollfest and Gypseyhawk) are playing November 17th and 18th in Calgary. It's like a 2 day long Paganfest!!!

If you're new to Vader and are looking for recommendations I can tell you that my favorite three happen to be:

    De Profundis
    Litany
    Revelations

Great band with a powerful sound, I just fucking love Vader. Seen them plenty of times and they were awesome every time.

Wow, just found out that Saxon is coming to town. In fact 2 days right before Diamond Head comes through with Raven. Old school metal overload!!!

I'm pretty pumped about Finntroll and Alestorm playing in the same week in Winnipeg. I'll be careful, last time I saw Alestorm I broke my nose. Always a fun show though.

Currently I'm driving back and forth between a small festival nearby and work.
It's almost a little bit like a 70.000 preview, cause yesterday was Dark Tranquility and today it's Finntroll.
Good thing tomorrow is saturday and I'm free so I can stay at the festival and driiiinkkk
