I haven't followed a lot of metal news for a while now so this is a bit of 'old news' dating back to early September. That said, I figured it was still worth posting as a point of interest and just in case anyone here knows anyone who knows anything etc, etc...
Sucks that we may never see that chrome V on the ship and that so much of the hard work on the new album may have to be recreated and tracked etc, thus cutting into how much time the guys have to spend enjoying it all and playing it live in preparation for shows. I won't say I've never stolen anything in my life but damn, this kind of thievery is some of the worst SOURCE
The following post was made to the Michael Schenker TEMPLE OF ROCK Facebook page:
"Some time between 6:00pm on Friday, August 29th and 11:00am Sunday, August 31st at Kidroom Studios in Greven, Germany, where Michael Schenker is recording the new TEMPLE OF ROCK album, Spirit On A Mission, thieves broke in and stole and number of Michael Voss’ and a number of Michael Schenker’s Dean Flying V guitars.
At the moment the full extent of what has been stolen is being accessed and the crime scene fingerprinted. However, Schenker’s brand new Chrome V is one of the guitars that has been taken.
A source close to the band said "the Dean Chrome V is a one-off, made for Michael to his own specifications. There is not another like it, so it will be hard to sell."
German police are examining evidence and the studio for fingerprints and DNA evidence to help catch the criminals.
There will be more details once the extent of the damage and a thorough inventory has been taken of the crime scene.
Anyone with any relevant information is asked to contact the Greven Police Station on +49 2571 9280."
ClassicRock.com posted this report:
"Michael Schenker’s next TEMPLE OF ROCK album is in disarray after thieves broke into his studio and stole guitars, equipment and the computers containing his recorded work to date. But vocalist Doogie White has vowed the band will get over the disaster – while appealing for help to recover the missing property.
The theft took place between Friday evening and Sunday morning at Kidroom Studios in Greven, Germany, where tracking was underway for Spirit On A Mission. Among the stolen items are four Schenker guitars including a custom Dean V in chrome – one of only three ever made.
White tells TeamRock: “We’re a bit fucked and a bit pissed off. I only got home on Friday after laying down the vocals, and Herman Rarebell just arrived to track the drums. The thieves broke in through skylights and stole a bunch of guitars, and also the computers containing the tracks. Then we found they’d also taken the backups.
“There’s still some confusion over whether we even have rough mixes of the songs. It remains to be seen what, if anything, we have left to listen to and work from.”
White reports the band are grateful for the support shown by fans who have spread the word about the stolen instruments. He says: “The ‘criminal masterminds’ behind this sorry affair just saw guitars and computers. They have no idea how difficult it may be to offload them.
“Any reputable dealer will know they’re stolen. No fan will buy them – they’re more likely to knock the seller out and hand them back. And casual players won’t want them. A Dean V ain’t for doodling on in front of the TV.”
A police investigation is underway while Schenker and co consider their own next steps. “The temptation is to say, ‘Return that which you have taken and you can go free, no questions asked,’” says White. “However much that sticks in our craw, it may be the course of action to take. We’ll see what happens over the next few days.
“I spoke to Michael this morning and he’s very matter-of-fact about it all. We agree there’s not much we can do, other than knuckle down and get on with what needs to be done. We’ll refocus, regroup and have a fresh plan in a day or two.”
An additional update was posted on the band's Facebook page:
"Friends and others. First off thanks for posting and reposting and sharing about our little mishap, much appreciated really. Investigations continue.
Herman is in the studio putting down drums against the earlier writing sessions we had made. Michael will be adding guitars for me to sing to next week. So we are up and running again albeit a bit behind. Your support has been outstanding and we will bring to you the finest RAWK album of 2015. xx Vigilante Man"
