    IRON MAIDEN- THE FINAL FRONTIER

by TOM CRUISE » Wed Aug 18, 2010 12:45 pm

Came today via Amazon. I wanted the limited metal box thing but sadly cannot afford it, I pre ordered the regular version months ago, it was 9.99, 7.99 using the 2 dollar discount voucher I had. I just opened it. The artwork is amazing. Really has that 80s feel, looks like it could have came out between Powerslave and Somewhere in Time!

    Now to have a listen.

    Cheers,

    Scott

PS- Though not ever possible, who here would SHIT if Maiden were headlining 700000 tons? I would need heart surgery probably.

Anything's possible Scott. It wouldn't shock me one bit. hahahaha! The only thing that tells me it won't happen, is the fan interaction part. I've never met Maiden, but it seems to me (on their dvd's and in interviews) that they're not the best guys to get along with. I love their music and have a world or respect for them, but they seem like fuckin wankers. I don't know though. I think it could happen.

I disagree with this. I am a member of the I.M. fan club and I met Steve and Nicko in 95 at a show and they were nothing but nice. I have heard from other fans that went on the flight that bruce was pilot of and he was super cool to the fans on board.

I was just thinking that Nicko has a home/business in the Miami area, they recorded their last album (as well as many others) at Compass Studios in the Bahamas.

I checked and the only dates for 2011 are starting in February when they go down under

Yeah, I'll be honest Scott, I've never met the guys so I don't know. I can't be the judge of someone until I actually meet them, my impression is based strictly on interviews where they appear to be all business and always on a constant schedule. That's not their fault though, so I don't know. But like I said,I wouldn't rule them out for the cruise altogether, and it's possible for the 2nd annual at least. Maybe?

I picked up the album on Tuesday and have listened to it about 5 times now. All I can say about it is that it is lacking. Very very very very lacking. I love Iron Maiden to death but I most likely won't be listening to this album again for a long time.

The album is fantastic. People shit on AMOLAD as well. And the people who shit on Maiden albums are not real Maiden fans. But To Each Their Own.
I think this album is the best one in the last 10 years. :viking: :viking:

Agree, AMOLAD was just f'ing amazing. I blew it and forgot to preorder Final Frontier so am now waiting on Amazon to deliver (impatiently I might add). So your saying Final is better than AMOLAD? wow, that is big talk, can't wait to hear it myself. C'MON AMAZON!

New Maiden album is pretty dissapointing.
No real imagination in the songs at all.
Although i still think it's probably a slight step up from the abomination known as As a Matter of life or death.
hopefully they get back on track with their music writing in the next album after the Final Frontier.

Speaking of new albums just got Accept's album 'Blood of the nations'
Now thats where it's at.Fucking quality album.you're time is better spent listening to this than Maidens new addition ;)

I don't know what everyones problem is with A Matter of life and Death. I think it's a killer album. When I seen them on that tour they played that whole album from start to finish, and I'm probably one of a handful of people at the show that did'nt bitch. It was awsome. Have'nt heard the new one yet but will be stopping at best buy on the way to Slayer so I can jam to it on my road trip. :shred:

Amen Brother! And Brother Craig! AMOLAD is my favorite from this decade but now TFF is slowly becoming a favorite.

Craig- Best Buy has the limited edition Tin version for 11.99! I might go buy it since I want that too.

The double LP picture disc of it looks pretty effin' sweet too.

no worries to the dissers of the last two maiden albums. these are people in their 20's or younger whom are hoping to hear NOTB II or KILLERS IV or something. If you like latter day maiden, you should love the new album!!!

Yeah I was just disagreeing with his opinion! I know how he feels about AMOLAD, and I should/could have predicted that he would not like this new one much.

Yeah but I saw what you said on FB yesterday just now, that people will like it because its maiden and really should admit its a horrible album, etc.

I sure am sorry that I like it. I try hard not to like albums. I do not like arguing though and everyone has differences of opinions. So you are saying because I like it I am not a real fan of heavy metal? :(

My friend Rob the guitarist for Shaded Enmity and Skelator said

"anyone dissing and saying they are dissappointed in the new Maiden album clearly has not listened to much 90 era maiden (Bruce included)"

What I do not get are the people slamming TFF will be first in line for tickets to see Maiden perform live.

    Matter of OPINION guys......

I like tomatoes, but not Ketchup,
She likes ketchup, but not tomatoes,

He used to like ketchup, but they dont make it like they used to,
so has moved on to a brand that better suits him,

She hates ketchup & tomatoes!! and thinks everyone around her is retarded for even buying the crap.
He LOVES both tomatoes & catchup and thinks she needs to get a clue about both before judging........

You guys really?....We love what we love when we love it...nobody's bashing you for a mere opinion........You know what they say....

Opinions are like assholes.......we ALL have one........even though some may stink.....lol....I had to throw that last part in myself just because :beerwink:
You get what Im sayin!....Now.....back to topic......I havent checked out the new shit yet...But absolutely LOVED the old shit..........to be continued :givebeer: cuz Im outta breath

I think it all has to do with the dedication and support you have for a band you grow up with and love.....very rarely will you have a band that will pump out a flawlessly FANTASTIC....loved by all...album time after time without missing a beat....Its all about if you love them, and you know what they are capable of...you show your support whether the newer stuff isn't as good as you had hoped or not....They obviously have it in them.....givem a chance to rock your socks off again!! :D  :headbanger:

Of the new Bruce era, I still like BNW the best. TFF isn't bad, but after ~5 listenings, it hasn't pulled me in yet as much as the new Blind Guardian after two listenings which I got at the same time as TFF. Now, everyone has their favourites and will listen to them no matter what.

I'm a very good example of this - Metallica is for me best of the best. Most people say they sold out with black album - I say Black is their best album and my alltime favourite album in the whole wide world. I also like Load and Re-Load to some extent. Does that make a retard because most people will go with what the crowd say?

Arguing about music (especialy which band is better) is plain stupid. I always make fun of my girlfriend for liking bands that for my taste produce nothing but noise (Opeth, Anathema, Orphaned Land, Rotting Christ) and she says the same for some of my bands. But we don't argue about it because every person has his/her own preferences. Luckily, we have one awesome band that we both pretty much adore - Rage.

Some people will like TFF because it's good, some will like it because others tell them it's an awesome album, others will pass it and others will just plain hate it.

So, in conclusion: arguing about music is like special olympics - even if you win, you're still a retard

I don't know if I could handle the sheer awesomeness of Maiden on the cruise with all the awesome bands that have been announced already.
Getting all this great metal on one boat is already risking it. If maiden is announced, the boat will explode when they hit the stage.

Couldn't agree more about the new Blind Guardian album. After the first listen I was just blown away. Could not get into the new Maiden though.

But these bands only producing noise? Can't agree with that. But to each his own I suppose.

Well after about 15 thorough listens I have to say that I rank this one just on par with Dance of Death. Difficult for me to admit but Bruce really sounded like he was just "going through the motions" on a couple of the tracks, just an uninspiring vocal performance overall. The strain of the high notes is REALLY starting to show though on this one as they were on A Matter...

Favorite Track - Toss up between the Title track and Coming Home (does EVERY band have to write a song called "Coming Home"  )
    Honorable Mention - El Dorado

Least Favorite - Mother of Mercy (the requisite Maiden anti-war song, unfortunately this one is very awkward lyrically)

my ranking for later Maiden albums.

1.A Matter of Life and Death
    2. Brave New World
3.Dance of Death / Final Frontier

It was still a GREAT live show as always though, can't wait to see 'em again!
Disaster Area: a plutonium rock band from the Gagrakacka Mind Zones, are generally held to be not only the loudest rock band in the history of the Galaxy, but the loudest noise of any kind at all.

This album bored me. I remember when i first listened to it I was bored and thought Id give it another chance later and knew it would never wow me but it might grow on me. It hasnt and i doubt this will get much if any future air play from me.

I was playing thier newer stuff a lot earlier this year when they were coming in concert and the Brave New World album really grew on me.

Im an old fogey though and still stick to their earlier stuff for the most part.
