Forbidden - love the new song, can't wait to hear the rest .......... and to see them live and on the cruise ....... my Thrash Giving concert is looking almost like a done deal, still waiting for a final word though

Overkill is like icing on the cake for this one.
the other bands are the mash potatoes and gravy ... damn I must be hungry

FYI.....Im flying out to Oakland, CA. tonite for the Listening Party for FORBIDDEN new Album......"Omega Wave"....being released to Europe October 23, 2010!.....and being released October 26th to the United States.......
I can't wait for everyone to hear it!....."Love at first listen guaranteed!"

Okay....So my plane landed in Oakland about 5:30 pm on Friday...Tambre picked me up and we went straight over to Sound Wave Studio in Oakland.
On the way over there I heard them announce the FORBIDDEN listening party twice on the radio....so stoked
We got there and started decorating...(mainly just throwing up some random skulls n shit everywhere lol)......
we then made up about 50+swag bags filled with shirts, poster, flyers, and random CD's that Nuclear Blast gave us to throw in....
We set up a LONG bar with Merch at one end (you could purchase the shirt and CD for $24 that night), A BUNCH of yummy goodies that Russ' girlfriend home made for the event and a bar with beer and wine that FORBIDDEN supplied their guests free of charge.
I volunteered to run the bar for them for the evening since everyone was going to be very busy....
I have to say......EVERYONE LOVED the new album "OMEGA WAVE" i CANT WAIT FOR EVERY ONE ELSE TO HEAR IT.!!!
WOW...It was a great evening! I felt like it was another ROcker Reunion that my friends and I have every year just to get everone from back in the day together.
There were several other band members present and showing their support which is always nice.....and at the end of the evening they raffled off a Bass Guitar!
One happy fellow went home with it and this turned out to be one hell ova good "release party"!

I flew home the next day and proceeded to Move furniture until late last night....ugh!!!......so tired.....but so worth it all

Went to the local record store (Rolling Stone) and Best Buy to get the new Forbidden cd and neither of them carried it, Basterds!

Will try another place or two this weekend and if they dont have it, will order it online

While I can't say Omega Wave is love at first listen (most albums are not with me anyways), I've given it 2 complete spins and there are some nice catchy memorable parts. Sounds like a pretty solid album.

Production seems a little flat/dry/subdued, not in a bad way, just doesn't have that razor guitar buzz that I'm partial to. It's a cleaner sound I guess. I'm not overly familiar with all the old material, so maybe this is par for the Forbidden course.

I did have my fastest 5K time this morning while listening to it though

I hold off onlistening to new cds from bands that I really like and listen to them at gym, it partially forces me to go hit the gym (which seems to get tougher to do every year).

I finally got around to listening to the cd last night and played it a couple of times.

It was somewhat different than I expected. Russ doesnt quite have the vocal range he used to and it sounds like he is almost going for a death metal vocals (a little higher putched version that is) on most of this cd, somewhat like Chuck Billy of Testament did for a brief period. Its not a bad cd, its actially pretty good but I was expecting it to sound more like their clasic period then it did.

Nothing blew away until the last song, the title track which is Outstanding. (why did they put th best track last?).

Again, I like the cd but not as much as I was hoping to. I still vividly remember the first time I heard the Forbidden Evil cd and it completely blew me away. I was somewhat foolishly hoping for a reasonable facimile of that feeling listening to this which I didnt get.
