How Many CDs do you own?

How many CDs does everyone have? I have 1200 plus. I have an excel sheet I keep track of them on so I pasted the detail on here of my collection by genre, and I listed a few examples for some genres. I spend way too much on cds but what the hell.

I have over 3000 cds ... across many genres from classical to the dark side of music. most hard rock/metal or classic rock if you prefer

haha. Did your parents ever give you shit about buying cds/cassettes/albums all of the time? My dad always did when I finally got my first job back in the day and all I spent my money on was music. Of course I still have em all and still listen to them!

But yeah, life got expensive shortly thereafter so I had to curtail the habit. I think I am in the 400+ range

No, my parents never cared. Id go to the record shop almost every day it seemed and get 8 tracks and albums and then later cassettes. I dont have those anymore cant even remember what I did with them.

Im still always trying to buy on cd a lot of my former collection I used to have on the older media from the day. I used to have like 20+ Zappa cds, I only have a half dozen now for example. Then again Im not as into him as I used to be.

Damn Dragonlord, I hope you have those cd racks screwed to the wall, I'd hate to see those things topple over.

I have just a little over 1,000 cds. 83 of those are Iron Maiden

I have some of the rarest maiden shit you will ever see.

if the racks fell over I'd cry like a baby ... minus well be under neath them when/if it happens. many rare and collectibles in there (autographed, numbered, first editions) i couldn't get far enough back to get them all in ....... several box sets on top

83 maiden? lot of live bootlegs I presume?

I only have 1 live bootleg, mostly singles, imports, radio edits, Ltd ed. I have a Canadian radio edit of Wasting Love I've seen sell on ebay for over $500. I paid 10 bucks when it first came out.

The most I have by any one band is 23 from Motorhead. I have 19 each from Megadeth and Maiden. Maiden I have all their major releases exept A Real Dead One (just never got around to getting it) and The Blaze ones (no interest in geting those). I dont buy extraneous greatest hits comps either, thought I did get Somewhere Back in Time.

I thought I had a lot (@ 400) but I guess I have a lot of catching up to do.

I do have every studio album by a lot of my favorite bands though, like Slayer, Opeth, Amon Amarth, Cannibal Corpse, My Dying Bride, Satyricon, Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Type O Negative, Behemoth, Old Man's Child, Nile, Hypocrisy, Rotting Christ, Hatebreed, Rammstein, Goatwhore, Dying Fetus, and possibly a few more.

I used to spend @ $300 a month at the record store. Not anymore.

I have about 600 CDs. Plus about 100 music DVDs and 3 Blu-rays (Within Temptation's Black Symphony, Nightwish's End of An Era and Alice Cooper Live at Montreaux)

I've culled the collection a few times over the years though at times when I've been either short on money (or space!).

Most by any one band would be about 20 Magnum CDs.

Love that band - Have pretty much everything that the lead sing BOB CATLEY has been involved with...Avantasia, Nolan & Wakeman, all his solo stuff. Such a unique voice.

He is touring with Avantasia at the moment. If Avantasia got added to 70,000 I would DIE.

Can't wait for the pictures, Scott! I don't have an exact number of my cds - I'm guessing about 250, which does not sound like a lot considering I've been into music big time since the 70's. Re: music dvds, I've got about 45 which includes a recent purchase of about 15 best of the 70's music show The Midnight Special http://www.midnightspecial.com/ (gonna cancel that subscription though - the dvds are awesome - early Bowie, Kiss, Cheap Trick, Nugent, etc. - but 15 are enough already!)

I've never done illegal downloading off the Internet...however, I do check out stuff from the library from time to time and occasionally burn it, or sometimes my main metal buddy/coworker and I "share" some of our music.

Am I going to get in trouble for admitting that?

7 / 800 cd's on the wall atm and another 2 / 250 abandoned at the pawn shop a decade or so ago. Lots stolen at various times over the years too(vinyl/tapes/cds). Got about 1400 cassettes I started to digitize a few years ago too but never got far. Dunno if I'll ever finish

Lost entire music collections about 3 or 4 times in my life. Seem cursed to this collect > enjoy > lose > grieve > collect > enjoy > lose > repeat sorta cycle. Have most of what I still own backed up now thankfully.

I have thousands of CDs. I put them in those CD-binders, and store the cases in the attic.

I don't buy too many CDs now that everyone puts their music online.

I also liked having the cases on display and periodically browsing through them. Album covers are reallly cool looking. Its not quite the same with cds as they are much smaller but its still the same concept.

I never understood people who stored or threw out the packaging.

Awww well shit, my towers hold 1,600 or so, nine rows. I have two of them and another smaller one that holds around 700 , I have a 18 gallon plastic tub full of CD's and 466 promo cds from 98-2003 (cardboard covers). and then the rest are the last picture. In the last picture you can also see the row of DVD's, they are all music DVD's and I have over 300 (Music DVD's). Not sure how many DVD's total that I have. Probably 1,200.

I could only take pictures of the two towers and my little pile right now because its late and I cannot disturb my exotic african grey parrot by turning on lights!

I did see my beloved Iron Maiden- Tin boxed set with the glass/pewter eddie shotglass, scroll with ring and 2 Double CD's of B sides and rarities!!!!

I hope you got the first edition Maiden "blue inlay" and not the red second print......... not that the sets are different other than pressing. as you can see mine in my pic.
