Any other "lifestyle" couples on the cruise?

    by 2naughtycampers » Sat Jan 15, 2011 12:55 am

(Note to mods: We posted a similar question a few months ago and Andy removed it. He said he wouldn't remove the post if we posted it in "Off Course", though. So here goes...)

We're an early 30s couple, we're going on the cruise, and this is a genuine attempt to meet people on board!

Specifically, we're wondering if there will be any couples or women on board who are in "the lifestyle" as we are. We won't go into detail here about what that means, but if you don't already know, you probably aren't in it! ;)

You must mean the lifestyle of heavy metal! I must admit I do listen to it sometimes! Best of luck with your goals in 2011!

he rocks the more understated humor. i'm the outgoing one, but when he does say something it's usually pretty hilarious. we entertain one another well! look forward to meeting you too. you are a total no nonsense no bull woman from what i can tell. love it. i can't wait to hear a little more about you and all your moving around and that fun stuff.

Your husband's motto rings true with me. I fully endorse boobs! I would further investigate the proposal opening this thread if I weren't in a long-term relationship, perhaps you will find luck before the cruise OP

    Another uber funny thread....
When I first read the opening post, I thought to myself - so, if this couple are "swingers" (great word btw methinks - even without context), you'd think they would have the decency to post a picture of themselves or something. Sheeesh! If I was a swinger (which I'm not, plus the American Library Association would most certainly revoke my membership if I was "found out." ), I'd at least like to know what my potential "swingees" looked like! :trashdrink: :beerwink:

I totally knew what they were referring to, I saw a bit on 60 Minutes or some such show, a few years back.

It's all rather immoral

I'm sure they'd send pictures to anyone who showed interest. And my picture isn't swinging, I just threw the girl into a pit of jello, that's what the red marks are.

Maybe just me - but I don't think that "lifestyle" would work for most people - considering human nature (jealously in particular?)

*thinking....aaack - now that the forum discussion has included swinging  ....I predict all hell breaks loose for the last forum week before the cruise! As Ted Nugent so eloquently put it: BABY - IT'S A FREE FOR ALL! :shred: *

I'm sitting here sort of shocked at the prospect that anyone here (especially Craig) had any doubts as to what was being referred to or is the least bit surprised at it. Stuff like this has been pretty common knowledge and fairly open amongst a large % of the populace up here for decades. Are we really that different?

You heard about it ON 60 MINUTES?

Don't your weekly entertainment rags in the U.S. carry a column called Savage Love by Dan Savage?

I assumed they were swingers from the start - I'm not shocked by the concept as I've known it exists for a long time - and yeah - Rob - Don Savage rules! I guess I was just surprised that someone would solicit other swingers on the forum. Whatever - as someone said - whatever floats your boat!

Yeah, I find Dan Savage and his column to be most entertaining. Side-splittingly so some weeks... <leaving out gory details so as not to offend anyone>

So Dan gets a letter from a reader who's got a very strange fetish. Nothing that might be super creepy or even illegal anywhere as far as I can imagine but yeah, just WAY out there. The reader's partner had said they were GGG (good, giving & game) to indulge any fantasy the reader might have so the reader sprung this little gem of a fetish on their partner in what was probably the least intelligent and most insensitive manner possible and then proceeded to forge on ahead in solo mode after the partner freaked out. Reader and partner then went on to get married without ever discussing what had happened

The reader ends the letter with 4 questions:

1 - Am I some kind of freak or weirdo?
2 - Have you ever heard of this fetish before?
3 - If so, why doesn't anyone else ever write to you about similar fetishes?
(There's a 4th question but it's just serious relationship type stuff - not really entertaining)

    Paraphrasing Dan's response...

Before getting to the listed questions, he does a sort of, Let Me Get This Straight summary of the original letter. Then begins:

People are fucking mysteries, man. (that alone in context just had me laughing my face off - especially considering the vast array of letters this guy must receive each week)

1 - Yes, but your kinky weirdo freakiness is charming and harmless and not anything that you need to feel ashamed of.
2 - Yes, yours is a relatively common fetish, one that exists on a continuum... Your kink could be much, much more problematic than it is.
3 - Other people have. Yours isn't the first letter I've run from/about a weirdo freak like you.

Probably not doing it justice here but was a great example of what I find to generally be a pretty cool column. I tend to agree to the letter with his overall politics which he also writes a little about most weeks. I really like how, from time to time, he'll take the name of some real dickhead politician and have his readers turn the name into a verb for some fittingly gross aspect of human sexuality. I'll spare you any elaborations here
So far at least, 2011, 2012 & 2015 were enough for me

yes, I'm quoting myself because Rob's Savage Love-related post convinces me we ARE in for a FREE FOR ALL! Savage's column appears in our weekly alternative rag "The Reader" - I've been reading his column off and on for nearly 20 years - IT IS HILARIOUS. He is a fellow Chicagoan and also went to my alma mater - the University of Ilinois at Champaign Urbana. Oddly and coincidentally, I saw him very recently on our local PBS station show called "Chicago Tonight" - great interview - a funny thing he talked about was the fact that he bid on and won Ann Lander's old desk (where she wrote her advice column for umpteen years) - that's now where he sits and writes "Savage Love"
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Savage
and btw the most infamous politician Dan Savageism that I recall was started by his dislike of the politics of U.S. Republican Senator Rick Santorum.
and just 'cause you mentioned my Nugent reference, Rob - here are the Free for All lyrics (plus my obligatory youtube from my fave 70's show...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzMaO4PlZck) Everybody SING!

Never before have I turned on you
You looked too good to me
Your beady eyes, they can cut me in two
And I just can't let you be
    It's a free-for-all and I heard it said
    You can bet your life
Stakes are high and so am I
    It's in the air toni-i-ight

I see you there with your cheshire grin
I got my eyes on you
Shake your tailfeathers in my face
And there's no tellin' what I'll do
Well looky here, you sweet young thing
    The magic's in my hands
When in doubt I whip it out
I got me a rock 'n' roll band
    It's a free-for-all

Here we go, look out below
    I'm on the prowl tonight
When it's said and done I have my fun
I can chew anything I bite
Come one, come all to a midnight ball
    The invitation's there
I come alone and I'm drivin' home
    I'm healthy, I do declare
    It's a free-for-all

Never before have I turned on you
You looked too good to me
Your beady eyes, they can cut me in two
And I just can't let you be
    Well, it's a free-for-all and I heard it said
    You can bet your life
Stakes are high and so am I
    It's in the air tonight
    It's a free-for-all!

SCHWING! Back at 'ya Rhiannon! lol - such a great word (plus I'm a big Wayne's World fan)

(oh gosh...FYI, I'm posting more than usual today because daughter #1 dislocated her knee last Monday - therefore she and I are hunkered down in Chitown - while hubby and daughter #2 are skiiing in Utah  this was a family trip planned long ago, but as we all know SHIT happens!)

   when I was on the Simple man cruise some girl invited me to a Orgy and wrote down the cabin # and I was like "ick, ok thanks"

    Whatever though!

Danger in the rearview mirror, there's trouble in the wind
Badness bringing up the rear, the menace is loose again
She looks so fucking good, so sexy and so frail
Something got the bite on me, I'm goin' straight to hell

(And now we're wasting time) Now we're wasting time
(Same ol' pickup lines) Same ol' pickup lines
And you keep tryin', (Wow!) don't waste time

Ow, come back to your senses baby, we can come to terms
I can almost t-taste it, it burns
You'd be sittin' pretty but you try to take the fifth
Wearin' out my welcome, guess I better save my breath. Wow!

(And now we're wastin' time) Now we're wastin' time
(Same ol' pickup lines) Same ol' pickup lines
(And you keep tryin') Buddy you keep tryin'
    Don't waste time

    Get-get-get-get-get out and push
    Get-get-get-get-get out and push
    Get-get-get-get-get out and push
    Get-get-get-get-get out and push

    (Guitar Solo)

    Get-get-get-get-get out and push
    Get-get-get-get-get out and push
    Get-get-get-get-get out and push
    Get-get-get-get-get out and push

Soon you'll see my silhouette a-darkening your door
I can almost t-taste it, I want more
No one's above suspicion, no one's got it wired
I may burn my fingers, want my iron in that fire

(And now we're wastin' time) Ow! Now we're wastin' time
(Same ol' pickup lines) Same ol' pick up lines
(And you keep tryin') Buddy you keep tryin'
    Don't waste time

(Wow!) Get-get-get-get-get out and push (Hey, buddy better...get out and push)
Get-get-get-get-get out and push (Get get get get out and push)
Get-get-get-get-get out and push (Buddy, better. Get out and push)
Get-get-get-get-get out and push (Woo! Oh!)
    Get-get-get-get-get out and push (Oh-whee)
Get-get-get-get-get out and push (All right you sinners, swing!)
