Only all of them about 3 times each.
Plus we got to meet him a few years ago during a book lecture
which was one of the greatest days of my life and I have a bunch of my books and comics signed. I'm madly, madly in love with him. One of my ALL TIME heros.
That is AWESOME! Really is. I love Clive Barker, its amazing how talented he is. First book of his I read was actually the graphic novel The Great and Secret Show, as twisted as it was there was an allure to it and was curious about other stuff that he had worked on and went from there.
Do you read other comics too or did you just get into Barker's comics?
After being madly in love with
Hellraiser I and II, the first
book of his I read was
The Great and Secret Show about 20 years ago and I was sold for life after that. I finished that book in under two days! I have a handful of comics
because they were his, but the only one I really collected till they pretty much quit writing it was
Lobo. I kept up with some of Simon Bisley's other works because I love his artwork so much (he always did the best Lobo) and with the exception of a few others, I've pretty much stuck to collecting books. I lived among the comic world for several years, so I have a working knowledge of a shitload of runs, but meh... 20 pages every month or two just tends to piss me off.
Stephen King just had a couple of runs that I started out with too, but decided to drop once his assistant took over writing. A bunch of Clive Barker's didn't involve him either and I hate that shit. I want my authors and their writing only!
Lobo though.... mmmm.... I loved him. A long haired bastich that killed his entire planet the day he was born just so he'd be known throughout the universe as The Last Czarian. A complete badass bounty hunter. Even his posture was sexy! If he had a band, it would have been death metal. He had a thing for redheads too. haha
(On a slightly related note, Scott Ian is also a huge fan and after years of excitement that he was going to be writing a few issues after Lobo was laid to rest, he COMPLETELY FUCKED IT UP! If I ever see Scott Ian again, I'd like to slap him upside the head for dumbing it down so badly.)
Anyhow.... Roland Deschain, Pinhead and Lobo. Now that's a sandwich I've always wanted to be the meat in! YUMMY!
I made the Devil do it.
