4 goals in the first. Schnieder got chased as he let in 2 goals in 2 minutes on 2 shots. Taylor Hall broke Gretzky's hat trick record.

Exciting stuff! Looks like good seats too. Actually looks similar to our position for the Canucks game but we were in the second row. I think you get a less obstructed view sitting where you were though.

We have tickets to the game against the Kings on Tuesday. Should be fun! Sitting third row just before the corner behind the goal.

I fully understood coach yanking Schneider after those 2 quick ones to wake up our guys but I wish he hadn't. They were perfect shots by Hall and Smid and I'd rather have seen Cory continue to grow in terms of bouncing back from shit like that bad start. When Lou let in the third one right away, it was pretty clear the tactic had failed and we were in for a crappy night :pukeysmiley:

Perfect seats. Above the glass so you can see everything. Right above the access to the Club Bar so no one in front of me. Cute blonde next to me with her boyfriend "You're not an Oilers fan, are you" she said to me...

So the Stars just got blowed up. Rooting for a Pens/Bruins Eastern Final.

Once again, the Stars will have a winning record and miss the playoffs. Getting tiresome. The organization is fucking brimming with youth and prospects. How about some fucking NHL players?

Was wondering if you were gonna comment on the roster turnover. Is there a reason you can see why they blew up the roster? I thought the team was playing fairly well and were right in the thick of things for a playoff spot.

Yaaay we got rid of the most overpaid defenceman in the league. Rumours of Kippersoff going to Toronto as well. We will get 3 first round picks this year if St. Louis makes playoffs

The way it looks to me is that we might have made the playoffs, but would not last long. So, we got rid of some players that weren't in the plans beyond next year. Roy probably deserved more of an opportunity. So it was essentially Ott->Roy-> prospect and pick. And I've been off the Morrow bandwagon for a long time.

So I see a bunch of "future", but not much NOW. We need D desperately. The forward lines have rarely been the problem. But, we keep our core intact (Benn, Eriksson, Lehtonen). However, this team, as currently comprised, cannot compete in the NHL. Couple of All-Stars and a minor league team with some journeymen vets thrown in.

Jagr and Nieuwendyk have both expressed a great desire for Jagr to be in Dallas next year. So I have an outside hope that we got a (1st round?) pick and 2 prospects, and we'll only miss him for 13 games.

Becomes a first round pick if Boston makes the Eastern Conference Final. As for those two prospects, MacDermid has been on the big team's roster for a while but has only appeared in 3 games. May bring some toughness (his season highlight was two fights in one game) but wouldn't expect much more. Don't know much about Payne but Hockey Futures has him rated as a 4th line contributor in a couple of years.

If Jagr helps the team win a cup, you can have him back next year and keep the prospects and draft pick.

Yeah, my question mark was a hope on it being a first rounder.

I just keep thinking back on what we've received for players we've given up, and history still needs to unfold, but we've done historically better with trades before Nieuwy. I look at players around the league that Dallas used to have, and watch them blossom into great players. We've gotten some steals, but I need to review Joey again. I would have given him a passing grade before the season started. Now I'm not so sure.

I've been studying drafts vs. prospects vs. vets in hockey, baseball and football. Hockey and baseball seem very similar in that picks will not be pros for many years, if ever. Prospects seem to have an outside chance. NFL is a different animal that would probably benefit from a minor league system to develop players. However, I just do not see the value of a second round pick for a proven NHL star. If I was a GM, I'd be giving away my worthless draft picks for proven NHL players any chance I got.

Thrilled to get Roy in a Canuck uniform. Not quite the game changer that Jagr might be but definitely brings 3/4 of what we needed at centre while waiting for Kesler's return and beyond. I hate losing prospects as we've grown pretty thin in that department but the thinking here is that we're a 'fertile' team that needs to make hay while the Sedins are still shining. Still expecting another move before tomorrow's deadline. Just hope there's one or two decent ones to be had :?

I'm still just so irked at the Stars. In a year, we've gotten rid of 6 top 6 forwards (Ott, Ribiero, Ryder, Morrow, Jagr, Roy, not to mention James Neal the year before), and we have a single depth player on the roster to show for it. No pick or prospect acquired will play for the Stars next year, most probably not even the following year, actually most probably never. Surely we could have gotten some decent NHL D and kept a couple of those players. Instead, tonight we'll be putting an embarrassment of a team on the ice that doesn't really qualify as an NHL team. At best, a bunch of 3rd/4th liners and minor league players added to our collection of bottom 4/minor league defensemen. Terrific goaltending doesn't matter anymore.

I don't see this team being competitive for several years.

EDIT: So, yeah, I reacted emotionally. To be fair, Eriksson, Whitney, Benn is a pretty good line, and I forgot about Cole, who is still a downgrade so far from Ryder. Now, everyone has to play up at least a line from where they should be on a decent team. That's an opportunity for all these young players. And with all these loses coming our way, we're probably looking at a top 3 pick. And I might be a little harsh on the prospects.

It has nothing to do with the realization that I'm older than everyone on the team, and with the exception of 3, by more than a decade. :|

Game was so much fun last night. We had great seats in the third row near the corner. Could see all the action. The crowd was loud and lively and the Coyotes played really well. Barbs had a fantastic game in net. This was by far the most fun I've had at a game this season.

He's been good all five games in a row! I love when sometime defies everyone's expectations and I feel he is playing for a contract. I think he deserves one.

Yup, my boys finally shows up! Guess maybe Doughty should have waited until AFTER their last game on our ice to whine about the Coyotes being 'whiners'. Oh the irony

It was fun holding up my lovely Queens photo and us getting to use our diving scores a couple of times    . I think Doughty and Brown also enjoyed what I was yelling at them

So rather than root for a minor league team (Stars), if I watch hockey I'll be hoping for a Bruins/Pens ECFinal, but Pens ultimately. (Neal, Morrow, even Jokinen and more)

Spent most of the morning analyzing trades. And I just don't get it.

EDIT: I desperately want to debate the recent Stars transactions with a knowledgeable Stars fan, but this is Texas, and the knowledgeable hockey fan is rare.

So Mason from CBj traded to Philly. Methinks Bryzgalov will be gone this summer :? . Guess he shoulda stayed with the Yotes instead of demanding a ridiculous salary

So, the most boring trade deadlines, lockout, and free agency. The trifecta. Well done, NHL. Thank you for teaching me how to market a brand.

Yesterday was the interesting trade day.
