Greiss played admirably but he did cost the team a few points with a late puck playing oopsie against Edmonton and a bad game against Columbus. The real problem wasn't goaltending, it was the offense going ice cold. Second straight season a defenseman (Yandle) leads the team in scoring. Still, Smitty was playing very well before the injury and I do feel like he could have stolen a couple of those games.

Should be an interesting offseason. Arizona definitely needs some forward help. They have a couple of good forward prospects in Henrik Samuelsson and Max Domi (sons of Ulf and Tie) coming through the pipeline but I'm not sure if they are NHL ready yet. The tough thing is, those two have pretty much maxed out what they will get developmentwise from the CHL and they are too young for the AHL.

Thanks. Greiss was really good, especially considering he'd never played that much but he didn't steal any games. Sadly, someone will probably snatch him up this summer.

Our main issue was offense, though. Hell, maybe Smitty could've helped there

Apparently not long enough as some players were out with the flu. Fuck. Bad game. Detroit completely outplayed them in the 2nd.

Been reading on comments about Selke award nominees. In my humble opinion, there is no need whatsoever for three nominees this year. Bergeron and Kopitar are in such a league of their own this season it hurts. As a Kopitar fan, I hope he wins the trophy, but the truth is Bergeron will get it for the second time in the last three years, just because Bruins will get further in PO than Kings (unless miracles DO happen). And then there are retarded comments like these:

Kopitar and Toews should not even be in consideration. They are dirty players. David Backes is the only one that should have won this. The NHL selection are clueless. Do they even watch the games. He has the points, plays on the powerplay, penalty kills, plays 20+ minutes. BAD CALL NHL

Kopitar is such a dirty player why would he get sellected. Brent Burns of the San Jose Sharks should have been sellected, but the Sharks are forgotten in many categories. Maybe if they win the cup hockey people will finally acknolege the skills their players have.

Not sure if trolling, being butthurt or just plain stupid.

Looking at some stats it seems Kopitar is more eligible than Bergeron :D

    Points: Kopitar 70, Toews 68, Bergeron 62
    +/-: Bergeron 38, Kopitar 34, Toews 26
Penalty minutes: Kopitar 24, Toews 34, Bergeron 43
Goals against per game: Kings 2.05, Bruins 2.08, Blackhawks 2.58

Of all three Kopitar played the most shorthanded minutes, he was also second among forwards on time spent on ice (second only to Crosby). Two things that are not going for Kopitar are the fact that he's not a Canadian and that he's playing in the (less exposed) Western Conference.

I won't be mad or cry if Anže doesn't get the trophy since Bergeron is a top notch player. I'd be very surprised if NHL gives trophy to Toews.

Also, 5 of the past 6 winners have come from the Western Conference. Datsyuk won 3 of those and he isn't Canadian. :beerwink:

Really, Bergeron or Kopitar would be excellent choices for the award but I'm rooting for Bergy.

Kopitar should win the Selke award hands down. and not just because i am a homer kings fan. well, maybe a little.
the announcers for last night's game think its a no-brainer for Bergeron. to be honest, no bad choices here. Except the ones who arent Kopi.

If anyone will be up at 3am EST, please send happy thoughts to Slovenia. We're playing final game to get back into elite group for worlds 2015. Playing against Austria will be very hard since they are still majorly BUTTHURT ever since the Sochi defeat (for geographicaly impaired, we are neighbours) and we are without our best players (Kopitar in playoffs, 4 players in German final). I promise, if you do this, beer is on me during 2015 cruise.

To be honest, beer was on me this year as well but no one from this thread approached me!

Also, 5 of the past 6 winners have come from the Western Conference. Datsyuk won 3 of those and he isn't Canadian. :beerwink:

Really, Bergeron or Kopitar would be excellent choices for the award but I'm rooting for Bergy.

I stopped reading after the title. You can't get anywhere calling people disrespectful names (unless they deserve it - like two girls and no cup :D ).

I don't really get the foot face thing for Toews but damn Kopi has quite the undead look

Good luck to Slovenia! I'd approach you on the ship if I had any idea what you look like :P

I had a black t-shirt!!! At one time Mean Machine and you were pointed out to me but I didn't want to intrude during your meal and this other I think you had Wizardbeast with you and she just looked like *RAWRITEARYOUR HEADIFYOUCOMENEAR* :D

As for Kopitar, he sometimes does look like he has half a zombie make up on for a really bad horror movie :D

Woo! Bring on the Habs. Thought Detroit would be a tougher out but the Bruins wore them down quickly. Bring on the Habs. Last time the two met it was a very nasty series. I expect that again.

    Congrats Slovenia!

Always a good tilt when these two meet. Have to put my heart behind Mtl since they're the only Canuck team in the playoffs. Money would be on the B's but will be fun to watch either way :headbanger:

I was going to watch the Bruins - Red Wings game and then I fell asleep after 10 minutes or so :)

And now that we're back in the elite group, I hope we can stay there for a while. There's a bunch of teams that we can and should beat to stay out of relegation plus we have a rep to protect now (7th in Sochi).

Oof. I feel bad for Sharks fans. I've been in the same place as them before and it is not fun. A collapse like that puts you in one hell of a sour mood for a long, long time.

Damnit, if only Avalanche won, I'd be on top of the HT standings :D Oh, well, at least I'm current leader in bracket challenge. Only missed on two series winners (Wild, Canadiens) and I managed to get right the length of three series. LET ROUND TWO BEGIN!

My picks have been very bad in the hat trick challenge. I'm also pretty well done in the bracket challenge. My Western conference bracket is toast.

BTW Nuux, sorry about the Colorado loss.

It's OK, Wild have been my underdog for a while now, I was always happy when they clinched playoff. I have a soft spot for Minnesota ever since Nesterović joined Timberwolves in 1999 (and Wild since their debut in 2000). Altough as of late, I'm not that big of a fan of Timberwolves. Rubio is really a dick :)

    Kings!!!!

and no, i don't feel sorry for sharks fans. i went to a game in san jose last year and was pretty shocked by their fans behavior. not because they taunted me and my daughter, the only kings fans in the section, but because they actually had their own fans kicked out for being too loud. seriously, too loud. and they were the only two fans who busted our chops for being kings fans, but they did it in a funny way. they cheered, made funny comments about there own team as well as the kings, stood up a lot - and the other sharks fans called security and had them removed.

no surprise their "stars" Thornton, marleau, and the rest disappeared. B's fans (Mooyagi) can attest to Thornton's prowess in that regard. pavelski was one of the few on the sharks with any desire.

time for some Duck meat! (a poor substitute for Coyote meat)

I had season tickets from 1995-2004 for the Timberwolves. I got to watch all of Rasho's years there. I wanted them to resign him, but he went to San Antonio. I think he didn't like Garnett. I don't blame him, it was common knowledge that Garnett was a jerk.

Yup. That was a big issue with him in Boston.

Odd story from the Sharks crowd. Can't imagine being kicked out for being too loud. I love the fun ribbing between opposing fans at games.

I am so excited for the Bruins/Habs series to start. This day has taken way, way too long. Hopefully I'll still be happy about it in a few days. Losing to Montreal is the absolute worst but beating them is the absolute best. I expect this series to be vicious. Go Bruins!
