As pleased and pleasantly surprised as I was with the win, my shock at the fact that you picked that win was ten fold

Ya gotta share the thought process behind that one for me sir!

    :D

I'm so hyped for olympic tournament, I checked how my team fared against the big 7.

2002WC (first time between the elite): 1-8 vs. Russia, 2-8 vs. Sweden
2003WC: 2-5 vs. Czech, 0-12 vs. Finland , 1-7 vs. USA (that was one of the games for relegation)
    2005WC: 0-7 vs. USA, 0-8 vs. Canada
    2006WC: 3-5 vs. Finland (was 3-3 after 2/3), 4-5 vs. Czech
2008WC: 1-5 vs. Canada, 1-5 vs. USA, 1-5 and 3-4OT vs. Slovakia in relegation
    2011WC: 1-3 vs. Slovakia, 4-6 vs. Russia
    2013WC: 2-4 vs. Czech, 0-2 vs. Sweden, 3-4OT vs. Canada (after being up 2-0 and 3-2 :?)

Looks like my streak will end tonight with Blackhawks' loss. So far they don't look anything like the defending champions.

Whew. Smitty finally got a shutout! Hopefully the floodgates have opened.

And 'Nucks fans, sorry about Hanzal being a douche. Oy.

Last picks (hopefully not) today before I get back from cruise as I doubt I'll think about hockey during Florida road trip. Of the 7 people that go on the road trip, I'm the only one who wants to go to Panthers - Avalanche game next Friday

CBC is doing their annual Hockey Day in Canada this year in an old home town of mine- Lloydminster,AB/SK.
    http://www.cbc.ca/sports-content/hockey ... yincanada/

Kinda neat--I played hockey from 1983-1986 there before moved to another town. Great hockey memories on not -so great teams

These are really great series regarding small town hockey-the volunteers, parents,

i blame that shit on the refs. you could see the player jawing before the game and the refs can kick the lines off the ice to settle it down but they chose not to and look what happened. then again torts in the calgary hallway at the end of the first was hilarious. i just feel sorry for the 4 defensemen on each team that had to rack up massive minutes ...

They got to see a great game too (well, if you're a Bruins fan)! Bruins spanked the Oilers 4-0 and it could have been more.

Amazing game by the Yotes last night! Smitty looked like the Smitty of two years ago, the D was spot on and we actually scored 3 goals. Wahoo!

Awesome time at the Yotes game last night. There was a pregame ceremony for the Miracle on Ice team, Alice Cooper played a few songs during the second intermission :headbanger: and the Yotes shutout the Blackhawks 2-0.

Did he perform with the full band and the female guitarist he's been touring with? We got tickets to see him open for Motley Crue's final show of their (apparently) final tour here in Vancouver in November and I'm much more stoked to see Alice than the Crue.

And now, go tell your team to get the hell outta my team's playoff spot mmkay? :P

We're out of it. Take it up with evil dan and dallas :bitch: Coyotes cannot string two games together.

Alice did not have his normal backing band. Some local group played with him.* Awesome for those guys. It was a great surprise as it came completely unannounced. Would love to see him do a full show at some point.

*Edit: So apparently that band is Alice's son's band! Didn't even know he had a kid.

We've lost 16 of 20 with only 1 or 2 ties in there so have no one but ourselves (and injuries) to blame. December was supposed to be our toughest month with the 4 California team games but we survived those better than we did all the games in January where we were 'supposed' to make hay

Heh, Brown scored for USA, Doughty for Canada. Why can't they score for Kings? :D :D

As for my team, we lost to Russia as it was expected. They went into the game with too much respect and lo and behold - it was 2:0 for Russia after 4 minutes. We had our chances but didn't take them in the first period, managed to win second period 2:1 and entered the last 20 minutes trailing only by a goal. After watching replays I feel like both goals in last period were goalies fault to some extent. No goalie should ever lift his leg pads when he's down on his knees and as for the last goal from blue line, he wasn't covered and could have reacted better. Also, the goal for 0:2 it seemed like a better goalie (of NHL quality) would save Malkin's shot. Just so I won't make him look bad, he did have 30 saves, so that's something ;) As for Kopitar, each time he had the puck no one could take it away from him. Too bad we only have one player of his quality.

Next game we play will be a nightmare for reporters - Slovenia vs. Slovakia (they always mix them)

Finland > Russia. I will never fail to laugh at Russia failing, especially on their home soil!

Two days in a row with Canada vs USA hockey. Wimmins for the gold Thursday and men in the semis Friday. Bring it, Canada!

Russia failing so bad is a surprise only to people who didn't watch any of their games at these Olympics and also to their fans. The players were so overconfident and sure of their gold medal they forgot how to hockey. Literally. Every offensive play Russia did these Olympics was one guy vs. five guys in opposing team. Against small (Slovenia) and bad (Slovakia) teams it worked out for them. Against serious competition (USA & Finland) they just crumbled. I guess that Ovečkin, Malkin, Dacjuk, Kovaljčuk and co. have too big egos to work as a team. I guess that comes with a big paycheck and roles they play in their NHL teams.

Also, good job Latvian goalie against Canada. He was so tired towards the end he could barely stand on his feet.

Fuck! USA choked in that women's final. Wow. What a hell of a game. Terrible refereeing on both sides sort of gives me a bad taste but that was one of the most intense hockey games I've seen.
