    What's for dinner?

    by CharleneThrashes » Sat Apr 03, 2010 1:26 pm

    I'm hungry.
    I'm bored.
    I'm not quite spamming...

Just waiting for these eggs to finish boiling for deviled eggs, along with country green beans and new potatoes, sweet corn and dinner rolls
    amongst other things.

As part of my final push to win the weight loss challenge I do with a couple buddies each year, and ends a week from today, I'm currently about half way through a 12 day cleanse using a product called Wild Rose Herbal D-Tox. The diet ya follow while on it isn't too bad but no sugars, no flour products, no sauces like soy or typical dressings etc and no dairy other than a little margarine or butter when needed. Spices are allowed so meals aren't totally bland but definitely not rich or terribly satisfying to the part of me that loves pastas, garlic bread, cheese and so many other not so good for me ingredients.

So, it's off to the store, the gym for a quick blast on the treadmill then back home to make tonight's dinner: salmon stir-fry with brown rice and lots of green veggies and a few strawberries for desert.
So far at least, 2011, 2012 & 2015 were enough for me

After reading all of you gentlemen trying to shed some pounds, I guess dinner tonight will be brussel sprouts and carrot sticks... Thanks for the dose of GUILT! This household could definitely stand to get back on the fitness wagon anyway.

Congrats on all of your accomplishments so far, guys. :headbanger:

Tonight's dinner is gonna be either chicken tikka masala or a Tombstone pizza with lots o' veggies added. Depends on how lazy we are.

I'm also on board with the whole getting-in-shape thing. I have a strapless wedding dress to wear in August, so the jiggly arms need to go. I've been (sporadically) using the calorie tracker at sparkpeople.com and doing Jillian Michaels' 30-day shred (I'm only a few days in, but I hear it works well).

Haha. This reminds me of when I was about 6 years old. I remember asking my mom about eating your poo if you were starving on an island. She said it was possible but a person could get very sick. Then I told her that if for some reason you didn't get sick, you would keep eating the poo and it would eventually get smaller and smaller until there was no more poo.... rambling, I know, but I can't believe my little twisted brain came up with that whole scenario. :?

You really should label those pics for those of us who survive on diets of ice and flop sweat... especially those things at the bottom. They look delicious but might contain something scary like stuff the Dutch eat ;)

Those scary looking things at the bottom would be plantains, and they are sooooooo yummy. Basically the "little bananas" you might see at the store (although I don't know if they sell them in Canada :? ). Can't live in Florida without appreciating Cuban and Puerto Rican food!!!

Cool... we can get plantains here but I've never had them as they're usually more expensive than regular bananas. Are those ones deep fried or something? I've had banana fritters which are maybe close but not quite the same.

Yeah, they're just deep fried plantains. The thing on the top is picadillo, which is ground beef with all peppers, olives, and sometimes raisins cooked in, depending on the recipe. Personally, I think the raisins are the best part. As for the center photo, we don't eat brown rice with black beans! only white rice.
