99% of the time the original song is better.
and 99% of the time a cover of a song is done as a quick cash in or for a low established band trying to make a name for themselves.Or for nobody bands who play regularly in pubs.
If you're good musicians then write your own songs and don't try and ride on the glory of other peoples songs.
Also i am quite drunk and i hate tribute bands.

Bentz! wrote:Other favorite covers are: Coroner doing Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze" and DAF's "Der Mussolini" (Not really.... those really chaff me, especially when they are played live at a reunion show)

EDIT: Dragonland's "NeverEnding Story" is awesome as well. I'll edit my list more throughout the day, at work and not supposed to be on the forums, oops.
Ecliptica wrote:Dragonland and Turisas are the only bands that could be booked this year that would make me almost as excited as last year.
Which reminds me, Turisas' "Rasputin" is another amazing cover song.
EDIT: According to my last.fm, I have listened to Dragonland over 3,000 times since 2005. Besides Sonata Arctica, that's twice as much as any other band.

Huh? I didn't know Over the Hills and Far Away was a cover. I guess the setting did feel a bit out of place. Who is the original artist?

How in the bloody hell did I forget about Rasputin? That's one of my favorites!
