Jet Li and Donnie Yen in Hero. This whole movie is a masterpiece.

I'll go with another music themed clip at the moment....

Jesus Christ Superstar: The Temple & Leper scenes
BAD-ASS ROCKIN' JESUS! I like very much! :headbanger:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9YiiCAR ... ata_player

My dad took me to see this in the theater when I was a little girl and it made a huge impression on me... Many years ago I saw Ted Neeley (Christ in the film) in a live performance of JCS - he's got such a great rock voice! I've read that JCS is one of Daniel Gildenlow's (Pain of Salvation) favorite albums - I can hear that influence/feeling in some of his music.

I wish Donnie Yen had more than just a cameo in that movie. He is by far the best martial arts action star since Bruce Lee, and even then some of Yens fights are better imo.

The hell scene from Event Horizon. If you are a horror-fiend like I am the best thing to do is watch it frame by frame so you can see the details of what is going on.

I was actually just ranting to my girl about that movie lmao. Not ONCE in the entire movie does anyone mention the splattered remains in the back corner. Even before they knew all the crap was happening they were in that room. Its like they just kind of looked at it and accepted it like "Eh, ship is strange enough. This shit dont phase me"

 APOCALYPSE NOW - Yes! (and a great scene) Just checked and glad to see I remembered to put it on my fave movie list from a while back.
    viewtopic.php?f=4&t=462&start=40

It occurred to me that perhaps some might think it's strange that I like a movie like this so much (or Braveheart that I mentioned above) because there is a fair amount of blood and violence in both and yet recently on another thread I emphatically stated I loathe horror movies (particularly of the gore variety). I guess what it is with me is not the blood or violence itself, but the context of it. For example, in a big epic war movie* or something like the Godfather movies ....the blood and the violence are integral to the story. Some of the horror movie descriptions I've read and the few bits I've seen here and there make me think that the gore/torture/death is there strictly for gore/torture/death's sake. Hey - I'm not putting down people who like horror movies - it's just my personal feeling about the subject, that is, what I like and don't like ;)

    * I realized I forgot to include the Civil War movie Cold Mountain on my list - need to add that one ;) )...

This is how I feel about violence in movies. And I also prefer when the injury cause is implied (say you see the knife going towards someone and cut to something else and hear the scream or whatever) instead of showing everything.

Interestingly, I avoid war movies, especially of the Saving Private Ryan variety. War disgusts me. Yet, I can watch "action" movies like The Expendables because there is a light-hearted, fictional, good guys win line to those movies. I don't need to see a movie that's going to depress me for a week. Similar to what I said before, there's a seriousness that just turns me off in drama, real-life blood and guts, and war movies that isn't present in horror and action.

We're all different, just like everyone else. :P

Come on, people. Similar statement, as in when the SEX is implied instead of showing everything.
