My grandmother was taken to the hospital last night, she had fallen out of her bed and injured her hip. At the hospital now and they said she has pneumonia, a blood clot in her stomach and has very low oxygen level - doctor said she was in critical condition. Can't visit her (although if she would even recognize me would be a toss up considering how bad her alzymers has gotten the past few months - she kept mistaking me for my mom last time I saw her) and be there for my Dad because I'm sick right now. So instead of being at the hospital with my family I'm sitting here, typing this and glancing at my phone every 20 seconds waiting for an update. I feel like I either need to punch something or be cuddled. Right now.

Sorry to hear about your grandma, Marlo. That has gotta be really hard on everyone. And yeah, I agree that Alheimer's is incredibly sad and scary - it is certainly a big fear of mine, although I try not to dwell on such things. My beloved father-in-law (who I knew most of my adult life until he passed away about 5 years ago) started to have memory loss around age 75 and presumably had Alzheimer's (at the very least, dementia). Sad to say perhaps, but I am thankful in a way that he died of something else just a few years later before the memory loss got too bad or extreme. He was such a smart, funny, and loving person that I can't imagine what it might have been like to see him completely different.

Snow this time is nothing unusual when you live above 63°N (same latitude in the US is a bit more than halfway to Fairbanks from Anchorage), and most of it is gone already. Snow usually comes and goes a few times in October and November.

Yeah, it snowed a couple of days ago even here in Southern Finland. I have my winter tyres on already, so no worries. Was fun driving on snow last weekend in Central Finland.
Now that the little snow we had here melted away, it's so freaking dark and depressing. I want a proper winter. Or summer. Fuck autumn and spring!

I think I broke my brain from stress and biting off more than I can chew again. Worst migraine imaginable and slept through both of my alarm clocks this morning. The cause I'm going to guess by shooting fish in the barrel: doing 1 and 3/4 days worth of work in the span of a day (full day worth of funding, half a day worth of associate work/training, training my replacement at work and covering a girl on holiday and doing her work) for the past week and a half. I have another week of this before it will be only associate stuff.

Just because I'm a young, efficient work horse doesn't mean I should be taken advantage as one by an employer. Its bullshit. It shouldn't be this much of an uphill battle with no support and too many expectation.

One more week one more week one more week. I need a massage and a crate of really yummy craft beer, NOW. Fuck.

Got tickets to see Slayer and Gojira tonight and the venue was set for the Stampede Corral in Calgary. Decent venue basically a small hockey rink. Sound isn't bad and they can get a good crowd in there. Then the promoter moves the venue to the Big 4 building (the shittiest venue in Canada, even worse than the Starlite Room in Edmonton). Terrible sound, pillars in the way and just in general a poorly managed venue for concerts. And of course there are no refunds....

Yeah the venue change was a pissoff. I was up front for Gojira so they sounded alright but I didn't wanna be close when Slayer went on, so I stood right next to the soundbooth hoping for decent sound but NOPE. A lot of the time I couldn't even tell what song was playing, except for the really recognizable songs. You're not kidding, that venue is fucking awful. Not to mention the ridiculous lines they have every time I've been there. I don't know why it's even considered as a venue when promoters book shows.

I sprained my ankle running on trails once and a week later I ran a marathon. My ankle swelled up like a baloon afterwards but I still made it. So If I can do that I think you can make it to Alestorm! Just drink a few beers and you'll be fine.
