As somebody that dislikes Dempsey the person, I can watch this all day.

That said, for the growth of the sport in this part of the world, I really do hope they do well this year.

Wasn't able to watch but sounded like we spent most of the match in front of our goal. Portugal getting waxed by germany helped a lot for our advancement chances. Dat goal differential.

Well I'm crushed my team "la Roja" lost.
    Horrible defense in both games.

This team is either going to need a good smack in the head and no beer before the game, or a completely new line up to get ready for Euro in two years.
B.S man, watching Spain play so bad was so saddening.

In any case, I will take Germany or Holand to win it this year.

But those Mexicans and Chileans are pretty hungry, so they would be my dark horses now.

perhaps if you only look at the score.
if you compare the shots holland should have scored against the socceroos it would be more on the side of Holland

also, the refs really suck this time.
first half against spain was really bad. and this time again.
another penalty given which wasn't a penalty.

I'd add Italy to that list. They played a great game against England...

Like always, the possibility for Germany to win or get far in a tournament stays and falls with the competition with Italy. We are loosing against them since the beginning of time (at least it feels that way).
Since Germany won't have to face Brazil or Italy before the final, i guess a constellation of those three is going to happen. Perhaps France or Argentina is putting up a fight against get kicked out of the
championship before the finals, but that shouldn't be a to big problem.

I am hoping for a finale between Italy and Germany, it has to be done...

No, just no. Germany has never beaten Italy in a World Cup match. I'd prefer Brazil. But then, home team would get carried by refs. It would be best for Netherlands - Germany final. The Dutch always choke :P

Gonna be tough for the US against the Germans but they do have a decent chance of advancing even with a loss as long as Portugal also wins. Here's a chart I saw showing all the scenarios: http://i.imgur.com/PTK7tOJ.png

I don't understand how the referee IGNORES the bite marks as Suarez is making sure all his teeth are in place. Fucking ridiculous!

He (the referee) is famous for strict decisions and for never questioning himself. he probably just saw the elbow to Suarez and stopped there. Shame. Apparently, FIFA will start an investigation...

So far, and by a VERY WIDE margin, the worst thing about this world cup has been the referees. Serioulsy shameful. Mexico would be group leaders if they had counted the two legitimate goals vs Cameroon, not to mention the blatant foul (and then the hands) by Croatia's defense.

Very useful. I hope the US beats Germany and goes first. Make CONCACAF proud!

The German coach, Jogi Löw, was the Co-Coach from the US coach Jürgen Klinsmann back when Klinsi has been the coach of
    the German team until 2006.

    Jogi Löw to Jürgen Klinsmann:

“When I left you, I was but the learner, now I am the master.”

Yeah, Reffs have been even worse than usual, which is already bad enough. I like that Mexico has the right mindset tho, they know the ref is gonna favor the other team, so they just no longer care, with their old mindset they would've just lost interest and lost the game against Croatia, so despite the awful qualifying stage I have high hopes for Mexico, if they can get through Holland they'll have ALL the motivation to go all the way.
First it would be nice to face Costa Rica in the 5th game, and get some payback, and then probably Argentina, to pay them back for eliminating us out of the last couple of world cups, both are teams that Mexico has shown before they can beat.

In all honesty, I think Chile will be a strong contender, although they have a tough way to the top, having to beat Brazil, then probably Colombia and Germany to get to the Final. My prediction for the Final is either Chile or Germany on one side, and Holland or Argentina on the other (or Mexico :D )

    I fully agree.

Despite the awful referees, this is the best world cup I've ever seen. So many goals, so many awesome games. I don't want it to end.
