was offered a job getting paid almost as much as I was being paid after 7 years at my last job (and automatic raise after 90 days will have me being paid more than previously)... and NONE of the stress. Essentially I'll be getting paid to walk around, though I'll have to deal with weather (who cares, right?).
Was also offered a tentative position at an investment firm, and while the income potential is incredible, so is the stress potential...

checking meters for gas company. Aside from the lack of stress and ability to enjoy being outside and hiking around, they have opportunities for advancement galore, and the possibility for relocation with moving expenses paid for (or partially paid for) which could be pretty helpful to me.
I'm interested in the Investment job and kind of want to at least see what it is really like, because the income potential is insane... but I always hear about the stress and crazy hours of those jobs and just don't think I want to deal with that

Investment jobs are definitely stressful. I would love the opportunity to work outside all the time!

You need to get out of Boston then  Maybe a change of scenery could help you with the rut you're currently in.

That would be nice, but I'd need to quit my job, and I'd rather not risk getting stuck in unemployment.

Hooray for living in a country without much criminality. Yesterday we went out for most of the day and when we came home our door was wide open... Nothing was stolen, it was just the door that sometimes doesn't close properly  It's not the first that it happens, but we get a bit of a scare every time!

I'm randomly rejoicing that Jameson's Irish Whisky is so darn tasty. So far I've drank to Rab (what a sweet guy), my father, brother, sister, all of my grandparents and aunts and uncles, and all of my absent friends from days gone by. At this point, the only people left to drink to are my two nephews and my mom, but they're the only one's still alive, so I'd rather drink with them. Well, the nephews, anyway. Mom's a mean drunk.

^^^ Steve - I did a bit of a double-take when I read your post because it seemed like it couldn't be possible that so many of your relatives could be gone, but then I realized of course it is possible because we are around the same age (although more are still living in my case). Sorry to hear so many have passed.

I shall do the same - toasting (in thought only since I'm not drinking atm ;) ) to my beloved grandmas & grandpas, father-in-law, two uncles, one aunt, one cousin, one niece, and several friends and acquaintances who have died.

Well, my fall back school stopped offering my degree program. HUGE bummer because that was the only school that I was 100% confident I could get into, and it was super cheap and my degree was available online so I wouldn't have to move to the boonies where this school is located. But I'm not here to bitch, I'm here to rejoice about my latest university search!

While I haven't really found a good backup school thats equivalent to my prior choice, I have found a bunch of schools in the last few days that I'm very interested in. And that's what I'm rejoicing. I'll probably still apply to one of the local schools (although I'm NOT fond of them) just in case financing falls through, I'll at least have somewhere affordable to consider.
Schools Ive found that are my "middle choice" schools:
Thompson Rivers University (Kamloops, BC...I killed a deer here!)
    Vancouver Island University
    Willamette (Portland, OR)

And some schools I kind of like, but I need to think about a little more
    Southern Oregon University
    Western Washington University

I'm going to spend a lot of money on application fees :|

That would be the plan to witch a backup plan is backing up.

Yes there's one school there, but there's a pretty low chance that I'll get in. That school and the one in Calgary are my top choice schools, but ...my program is incredibly competitive. Each one has something like a 40% acceptance rate for my program and I'm not a super-duper exceptional candidate. So I'm applying all over the place ;)

Oh okay, makes sense. What program are you applying for, if you don't mind me asking?

Going for my Masters in Business Administration. They consider my GPA, GMAT score, work experience, and essays and shit when I apply, and I'm lacking in work experience. I aced/will ace all the other stuff so that will help, but I'm not sure how it will all play out.
