I hear ya. I've been at it over a decade now but it was a relatively slow progression from free online poker to pub poker (points based league with small prizes - entry was meal or drinks etc) to small home games with $20.00 buy-ins to small casino tourneys with $30.00 to $50.00 buy-ins. Having found a fair bit of success in those settings, I began playing some bigger tourneys and cash games and it took me a while to get the cash game play up to where I can say I'm just now becoming only a slightly better than even win/loss player. Tournaments have definitely been where I've had the most success financially but the cash games have significantly improved my play, provided a game whenever I have time to play and challenged me to learn aspects of the game not as easily encountered in tourneys. Overall, I'm up somewhere between $10k/$12k lifetime after this weekends success. Take away my cash table play and the number would likely be more but then I would have had less practice and less exposure to tourney opportunities as I've frequently bought in to a cash game for $100.00 then won 3 or 4 hundred more which has gained me entry into the next day's tournament.

The worst setting ever for me overall was online, single table tourneys with credit card and alcohol involved. Very happy that's not part of my repertoire any more. One single night of near blackout foolishness cost me a whoooole lot of previous profits lol
So far at least, 2011, 2012 & 2015 were enough for me

Congrats on the win Rob!! That's a lotta moolah!!

Personally, I never had the guts nor the desire to gamble...never played cards for money, never played a casino game, never bet money on anything (horseracing and so on), never went in on a pool bet, never bought a lottery ticket, etc. Maybe I've been missing out all these years!

I take that back....I did spend a small amount on a slot machine *once* many years ago, promptly lost it, and said to myself "I'm never doin' *that* again." Haha - that was/is my inner cheapskate talking.

It's a 3.o litre inline 6 with twinscroll turbos. Certainly not as torque as my V8 but it does pull nicely. I will miss the Borla performance exhaust I had on the Red Rocker though.

So I got my masters degree 2 years ago in Clinical Art Therapy. In order to become an official registered Art Therapist, I needed to complete 1500 hours of client time.

It took me a year to get a job in the field, and now I have been at my job for a little over a year, doing Art Therapy with my clients. The part that sucked was that I could not find a supervisor to sign off on the hours I needed so I was doing all the right things and just getting no credit for it which sucked.

FINALLY today, I get a call and was told that the director of my program is able to sign off on the hours I have completed, and that everything I have done in the past year will count! YAY this means I am one month away from getting my ATR!!!!!!!!

Gratz on the great news! I can only imagine how frustrating that must've been prior to getting all that work recognized

Not sure if rejoice or bitch but my dissatisfaction with my job of 14 years recently hit the tipping point and I've been actively investigating a major career shift/change towards something more rewarding/satisfying. Attended an info session tonight that could see me quitting my job and going back to school for 2 years. Will meet with a career consultant in the coming weeks to look at other options as well but not likely to choose one that doesn't involve a return to school so I may end up having to miss yet another cruise or 3

May just have to crank up a whole shitload of Sacrifice if things really do end up going that way

Goodluck! It is definitely important to enjoy your job (to n extent) if you are miserable, it just causes so many issues. Hopefully you wont have to miss anything you really want to attend! For me, life always comes first, school and work has to work around my life (at least I do what I can to make that so)!

Only 62 more days of work after today. I think I'm a little too excited to quit my job.

Handing the last papers for loans and scholarships this week. Hopefully, I'll be able to go to grad school without incurring into too much debt.

I don't think I'll ever get used to F temperatures. Make absolutely no sense to me.

Water freezes at 32 and boils at 212. What's there to be confused about? :P
