Yikes. I didn't realize I'd end up sparking a subs vs dubs debate.

Also, the guy I quoted from youtube was actually saying the opposite. Basically he was saying, "Watch Black Lagoon dubbed, because F Bombs".

Haha, wouldn't call it much of one. Anybody willing to actually defend dubs?

Personally, I think both should be given a chance. There's still that 1% out there. I don't have much to share from personal experience, but I've heard reviewers mention that in western settings it can feel more authentic. A reviewer of Black Lagoon said how when it was dubbed, the various races and ethnicities of the various characters were properly represented whereas when it was subbed they all simply sounded Japanese. Also, one would be hard pressed to sound smoother than the guy who dubbed for Spike Spiegel in Cowboy Bebop.
Still, unsurprisingly I've seen my share of bad dubs too. I got Guilty Gear Xrd recently. I enjoyed about 75% of the characters' voices, but that came at the cost of their lips syncing terribly, to the point where someone's lips would still be running long after the dub finished. Very jarring. No doubt, there are tons of pitfalls to making a dub work, but I sure love it when it does end up working.

My mom's a huge Game of Thrones fan. She sent me this recently. If you've been following the TV show, you'll probably find it funny as well.
