I was initially scratching my head thinking "people want Ankla ? " & "no one has made fun of them yet ?"

Then it dawned on my were talking about Angra

    When did Angra split?

Angra is a soap opera. From the original formation, only Loureiro, Bitencourt and Confessori are on the band. But Confessori returned this year back to the band.

Anyway, they were always active with other members.

I'd like to see original Angra back again, with Mariutti and Andre Matos. That would be awsome.

I forgot them. Shame on me!

They had reunited last year for a tour, but I think they had disbanded again.

Accept are back together with a new singer and a new album is on the way.
UDO doesn't want to do anymore Accept work and thats why they've had to replace him in the band ;)

All rap metal should be banned and the people who create it should be locked up for life

I never even really thought of RATM as rap metal as the vocalist was more yelling than rapping or singing but I guess it sorta had that feel to it. Was never sure what genre to pigeonhole them into. Same as lots of other bands that sorta defy categorization for me: Tool, Clutch, Gruntruck, I Mother Earth, Soundgarden, System of a Down. None of these seem like rock, grunge or metal to me and Alternative is just so broad I never found it very useful for describing anything.

The only rap-metal band I ever enjoyed was an outfit from here in Vancouver called Minority. Basically a metal band with 3 vocalists, 2 or 3 of which played no instruments on stage. I heard they released a full length cd but I never got to hear it. Only song I have of theirs is called To You With Love off a local compilation disc called Closet Compilations & Collections For The Critically Confused. I'd post a link but I don't think there's one out there. Maybe I'll get off my butt and upload it somewhere sometime. They opened for Monster Voodoo Machine and Marilyn Manson in a small pub here before Manson hit it big. Damn good show overall except that MVM had everyone and their brother up on stage with them for most of their set and Manson pretty much kicked anyone that got anywhere near him right in the head from up on the stage. Different strokes eh?

As long as TSO is making so much money, the powers there are will not care.

And all the other projects like Jon Oliva's Pain or CIIC just don't cut it...

Now THERE'S a glammish old party metal band I never expected to hear mentioned here! Not sure they'd fit with the caliber of metal on this trip though. I really enjoyed their self-titled album way back when. Vocalist had a pretty cool voice and the guitar sound was great. I always thought they'd do as well as Quite Riot and that ilk but I guess they never got noticed the way they'd have needed to for that kind of success. I didn't keep up with them or think they'd even be part of a reunion conversation but I'll have to look them up and see what happened to them etc.

Well, you know, like so many other modern day bands where everyone has a side project, Devin's had his hands in SYL, DTB, the Ziltoid thing and now DTP working with, yet again, a whole new cast of characters. He's also been pretty open about feeling that the guy he is (was) while in SYL was all out hostile, angry and aggressive, and also a little out of control with the partying/consumption, whereas now he's finding himself mellowing and more committed to his family and such. All this coming from him as he launched this whole new big whack of material. So, take what ya will from all that but it almost sounds as if he feels that returning to active SYL duties would require him to regress to a version of himself he's come to find at least partially unappealing.

Then you've got the rest of the SYL crew who are also all mostly on to other projects and tours etc as well:

Byron - Fear Factory, City Of Fire, Zimmer's Hole, Tenet
Gene - Mechanism, Dethklok, Zimmer's Hole, Tenet (the guy's a machine though, I'm sure he'd be in 5 more bands if he could manage to juggle the calendar)
    Jed - Zimmer's Hole, Tenet

So, yeah, I think Strapping falls into the category of shelved, at least as far as we know for now. One can hope however :shred:

Gene drums for Meldrum as well ;)

    From Wiki-

Townsend disbanded Strapping Young Lad in May 2007, announcing his decision to retreat from public view while continuing to record solo albums.

Thankfully I have seen them 5 times. And Devin once, he played for free at the end of February in Redmond Washington at a coffee shop! That was killer.

I have to mention, the first time I saw SYL, was at Dynamo. It was 98 I think. And they headlined one of the nights and they went on just after 3 in the morning, opening up with "OMFG" and that is exactly how I felt. Gene was on a riser and they were loud as fuck and tight as fuck. When they were done, it was starting to get light out! Awesome. Seen them many many many times and actually partied with them on their bus when they were touring with Meshuggah 2003 (or 02) There was a picture up at Devy's site of him and I standing next to the tour bus. Sadly I lost the picture on a hard drive crash. :(

Anthrax can't even make up thier mind who their singer is yet alone try to organise a reunion gig with neil Turbin
I somehow have a suspicion that with all their antics at the moment they won't actually have a singer for all the shows they are supposed to play.
