here is a photo of one from Celebrity Cruise lines, but they are all similar. Pretty small, big enough for wallet cell phone passports cameras but not much else. Something like a laptop would not fit. They open and close using your room key, which is convenient.

Note: the safe only opens with the card that was used to lock it, so if you are storing your cabin mate's stuff in there as well you'll need to keep that in mind. If you use your card to lock it and end up passed out somewhere your roomies won't be able to access the safe using their cards. At least that is the way the safes on Carnival ships work.

I've heard many ppl talk of bringing theirs. I'm bringing mine so I can take pictures and videos off my camera at the end of the day to make room for the next day. Also cuz it's the only way I can charge the battery for my little video camera.

Also consider that the computers in the lobby are really locked down to keep them secure so we don't really have the option of using a browser that we know from top to bottom.
