First time to the United States?

As an American whose ancestry came here from Europe as far back as the mid-1700's - here's an advance welcome to the United States!

This is my 2nd time to the States , last time was in the 80´s when i stayed in Annapolis for a month ( went on an exchange student thingie )

First day i got there Scotts friend colected me and we went to one of my best friends houses and got shitfaced drunk.Wen later went to a pub where we got to hang with Scott for a while and his friends.I got him and his friend to drink somemead and then me and his friend went back to my friends house got even more easted.My friend ordered a fuck load of pizza and then we got stoned and listened to king Diamond.
Was an awesome night.

Been in the states twice once in chicago and once in Austin and new orleans. texas is by far the greatest state so far in my US adventures

I've been to the states quite a few times, most recently in Florida and California in December 2009. I was born in Napa Valley in California, and moved to Denmark when I was 2-3 years old with my mother where she and her family are from, but I normally visit my family in California every other year or so.

yes, they are the greatest, and you must ask for your fries and burger ANIMAL STYLE! and yes there is one literally 1 minute away from LAX.

Just chiming in to say that I hope everyone coming out for this has a wonderful time in Florida! I've lived in the state for eight years and I have loved it. The warriors in the local metal scene were so friendly and inclusive when I first showed up, knowing no one at a Blind Guardian show for the first time. And it's been a blast ever since! Lots of good friends and good times, even if Miami itself is NOT known for it's awesomely metal vibe. There are a lot of awesome people who still make it happen!

Welcome to the States and welcome to the wang of the US (even if you're just from out of state)! Can't wait to have a blast with everyone on Sunday and beyond! Just whatever you do, please watch out for the gators and the geriatric drivers. Especially the latter. Seriously. Not even kidding about that last one.

Second time for me, I travelled to Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and New York last year. Well, 2 years ago I was at Miami Airport one hour in transit to the Bahamas so technically it will be the third time

I fucking love In N Out Burger! We need a Five Guys out here, though. In N Out is primarily in California. I believe there are a couple in Nevada and Arizona as well. The one next to the airport is wicked easy to get to, it's on Sepulveda Boulevard just north of LAX. Enjoy! I usually go for the Double Double.

Yes, well I live nowhere near Opa Locka, and if their crime rate is so high, it's only because their police department is a laughable collection of bunglers.

By the way, I saw 5 Guys Burgers mentioned. You'll be glad to know that we have a few of those around here if you really gotta get your fix for it. Of course, if you're coming here, I suggest trying some Cuban food. If you're not sure what to try, then feel free to ask.

It was funny-sort of. I got everything back eventually-- just someone grabbing a black bag and going. There were lots of people trying to make connections etc, and just probably left them with security.
What was most surprising was, that when I went buy a new computer,camera and passport stuff..people were so "We aren't all like that ,,and we're so sorry."

Note--the Canadian Embassy in DC is unbelievable! Only open 4 hrs a day..but witnessed much Canadian booze being transported in elevators... This is how we do diplomacy???

Most of us are good people.

Is there any other way to effectively do diplomacy? I guess getting all the other diplomats liquored up is the only way Canada can get a seat at the big kids' table.

It's been all west coast North America for me most my life. A few trips to Alberta and a few down to L.A. and back with several trips to Washington State (Seattle, Bellingham, summers at Birch Bay) but never seen the Atlantic or the Sun rise over an ocean.

I love pigs in a blanket so, take out the chocolate chips and I just might buy those if I ever see them in our stores. That elongated burger might taste good but damn it's hard to look at.
