    Did everyone survive?

    by STACH100 » Fri Jan 28, 2011 7:17 am

I am in my spacious hotel room(every hotel room is spacious compared to my room on the ship).
All is good, I think I walked 45 miles aboard ship. I think I grew extra fore arm muscles from carrying my portfolio.
It is going to take a while to go through all of my pictures.
A big Thank You to all of you I met, every one was so cool! :headbanger:

I survived. My fucking gracious jebus it was fucking AWESOME!! Despite having a injured toe from a week ago I managed to get to where I needed to be. Back fucking hurts like hell from all the headbanging that I did (Especially during Amon Amarth).

I am currently also uploading videos and will report some awesome scenes from the Exodus and Sabaton set at the pool side.

The cruise was one of the top 5 most amazing this to ever happen to me.

Words cant describe the magnitute of this event-you really had to be there to understand.

This was the best coming home present i have ever had (came back from Iraq a week ago)

I met so many awesome fans and musicians of bands that i have been a huge fan of for many years.

I saw and experienced some of the most unbelievable metal things ever!

Thanks to all of you for such an awesome time-it was great hanging out with many of you! lets keep this forum alive and see what transpires for next year

Totally, one of my surreal moments was shedding tears during Iced Earth on the pool deck when they were playing Watching Over Me. "Spirit like the Wind" and the wind blowing over me giving me goosebumps.. Very spiritual.

Best vacation E V E R!!!!!!!!!!!! Too many surreal moments to put into words, luckily I filmed a lot of it. So many cool people, especially the crazy Canadians (Darcy, Fred, Shawn, you know who you are!) Can't believe it actually happened, great job pulling it off Allison & Andy! This has to become an annual event for us!!! Hanging out & talking to Uli was totally a high point for me & my husband. He's our idol!!!! :headbanger:

 Thanks. I am not afraid of emotion. My father has been gone 17 years this august + when I saw Warrel Dane live in Seattle and they did "Father" I practically fell apart. I felt the spirit of my friend Michelle who was found brutally murdered just 3 weeks ago. She would have loved the cruise. I just know it.

I made it! I even have a shirt confirming that I survived 70000 Tons of Metal. As with everyone else, words cannot describe how incredible this trip was. Never would I have thought it would be as amazing as it turned out to be. Seeing all the bands blend in with the crowd, eating breakfast with us, drinking with us, and hanging out in the crowd just like the rest of us for other bands' shows was surreal. Kudos to Andy, Allison and the whole Ultimate Metal Cruise family for putting on such a memorable event. This will never be topped, until 70000 Tons of Metal 2012. See you all on broad next year! :headbanger:

Dude. This was one of the top 5 most amazing things to ever happen in the history of mankind! There's the pyramids, the splitting of the atom, and 70000 Tons of Metal..... and not necessarily in that order.

I finally made it back to Dallas.... concur with Captain... feet and knees hurt. Will post pictures later.

You guys are really fucking awesome. I had more fun than anyone has ever deserved to have. I am very blessed.

Another survivor ( just barely) here and, wearing a toque in a chilly Toronto to prove it.
I've kept saying that this was "the dream vacation you never dreamed of".
Some much love in the metal family! Need time to reflect and post some photos.

    Totally surreal.

I never got a chance to meet Scott (Tom Cruise) Bangers and a few others. I remember going up to Bangers and yelling I'M DRUNK and that was the only thing I ever said to him, leaving an excellent impression. For that, I appologize.

15 mins to step into home... then unload, unpack, laundry, look at pictures, weep, review videos, weep more, check forum and facebook for everyone's updates, and weep even more before going to bed and wonder why we can't live in a Metal Kingdom with all that crowd from the ship where you can see the biggest population of people who wore black the most.......

Hope everyone survives and hope we repeat the metal madness next year.

I'm also getting sick or something, but it was totally worth it. I figure it is from the cold ass wind that was blowing when I was in the hot tub. Rapid temp changes can get you sick.

They can cause pneumonia, as well as hypo and hyperthermia, but diseases are viral and bacterial, and come from congregating with large groups of metalheads in confined spaces for four days...

And Mexico, but that's a different type of disease. ;)

I crawled away from 70000 tons. Barely survived.

In Mexico I rented a scooter, got a little too spirited with it and flew off... messed up my foot. I live in Miami and had to go into work that same day on ~3 hours of sleep, and I currently am running a fever.... All totally worth it. Really pushed my body to its limits. No sleep, inebriated 90% of the time, eating every two hours, cold air (amazing Amon Amarth set though), and pitting whenever possible. :headbanger:

I'm still swaying. It's a disturbing feeling now that I've been off the boat for over 24 hours. I've cruised before but it wasn't an issue, but I did catch a head cold in Miami and perhaps has something to do with it.

you, me and about 5-6 others (so far) have the same head cold. I bet hundreds of people will come down with it in the next day or so. Ah well, small price to pay.

I'm also a bit sick right now, but just went to the store and picked up some Robotussin a few hours ago. Already feeling a bit better. Definitely ruined my birthday plans, but I'll survive. Robotussin is totally the magical cure-all.

I blame growling with Witchburner for my throat though. I've been a vocalist in a band before and did all the grim vox and whatnot, but for some reason, my voice totally gave out during Witchburner's set. Never happened to me before. Was spitting up blood and stuff -- fun times.

Home unsweet home with nothing to do but watch videos and look at photos and wish it had never come to an end...

Well, that and save and plan for next year :headbanger:

Oh, and I'm guessing the few dozen individuals weighing less than 103 pounds who wandered the upper deck in some of those high winds won't be posting here to tell us what it's like to in their new homes beneath the seas. Well, that and save and plan for next year :headbanger:

Oh, and I'm guessing the few dozen individuals weighing less than 103 pounds who wandered the upper deck in some of those high winds won't be posting here to tell us what it's like to in their new homes beneath the seas. Hopefully one of next year's performers will have composed a song in their honour by then

nick went up there and made it home and he weighs close to that...he did say he almost got windswept off the ship. i didn't even know he was up there or i would have been afraid i'd be a widow.

Hey Rob! How the hell did I barely see you on the boat? There were several people I seemed to run into over and over (and not just because we were at some of the same gigs) and then others I barely saw....oh well, one of life's great mysteries I suppose

Re having a hard time getting back to reality....yeah, of course that is gonna be hard especially since we had so many months on this forum building up each other's excitement and it's over now! Oh, but what great memories! I told at least a few people on the cruise that if I was never able to go on another trip or see another gig in my lifetime - I could totally be content with that experience as my final memory of the grand adventure that has been my musical/travel life. :headbanger: It totally surpassed my expectations.

And yes, the wind was nuts up on the deck - at times it was hard to hold my camera steady enough to get decent pictures  .....here's my fave pic in the wind.....me and MetalWrath the crazy Irishman the last night....(something tells me he won't remember this pic being taken :beerwink: :trashdrink: )
