    Edguy?

    by ritzcracks » Sat Apr 17, 2010 10:14 pm

Does anyone have any idea if Edguy may be lined up or have something to do with this? it seems there are quite a few of bands that have a power metal style to them and i would love to see Edguy there.

I missed out on Edguy when they were here, so I'd definitely be down to see them on the cruise.
    Would be a great addition.

I rather see Rihanna, than Edguy or hammerfall both of these bands can be dragged after the boat and we can try to hit them with bottles bring on Turisas, Fear Factory and Arch Enemy instead of these sheepshaggers
Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment

Pissed of whishlist for the cruises:
Turisas, Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, Dalriada, Arch Enemy, Abinchova, Northland, Sear Bliss, Watain, Slayer, Raubtier, Fear Factory, Rammstein, Running Wild

I think they'd be a great addition to the boat. They put on an amazing show and they're a ton of fun. Great party + drinking tunes

Edguy way back were ok as power metal. What they are now is not metal but emo shit. If they would come on this thing then as long as they don't play any of their past 2004 albums should be ok. However I think we have enough good power metal, to let that be turned into a joke.

Edguy, Emo? I think that is a bit of a stretch, but just my opinion... I want to see them again just hear them play Pride of Creation. "You're alive said the Maker and smiled at the Aardvark." "Why do they have to get married before they do what they do every day, anyway, when there's Hell to pay?" freakin' funny song. :beerwink:

Hell, Edguy haven't had a decent album since Mandrake, and before that they were merely a slightly-above-average power metal outfit, there's dozens of power metal bands that blow them away that would be awesome on this trip, let's start with Blind Guardian...

24 slots left, plenty of room for Edguy in there. Hit the casino, bar, rock wall, spa, buffet while they are playin'. Lot's of options on a cruise bro'! I will take your space for that show and you can take mine during the cookie monster vocal bands! IT ALL WORKS OUT!!!! :heavydrink:

    I would die. d.i.e.
I saw them the first time they toured through the US... wasn't sure I'd ever get that chance... it was beyond the beyond. I'm already pretty stoked on our cruz lineup adding them would put it over the top for me.

Hell yeah, bring on the death metal! I do also love power metal, its one of favorite genres, but I think there's a ton of better picks than Edguy out there, and I do agree, they are awesome live, seen 'em at PPIII, but the later catalog has stunk it up, sorry, gotta call it like I see it. And so, let's bring on the great Swedish triumverate of death: Grave, Dismember, and Unleashed all on board!

I should clarify.. I mean from the ToS album. It would be nice to see something like 'arrows fly', 'Headless game', 'wake up the king' or 'theater of salvation' instead of babylon.

You're right... and they NEVER play those songs.

I got them to play Fucking with Fire from RR at one show but only due to a random convo/encounter with Tobias. And then half the crowd was pissed cuz they played it instead of babylon. Whatev LOL. Anyways they usually play a few RR songs but I've never heard them do the ToS ones you mention (I've seen them all three times they've played the US)

Haha.. that's sweet about FwF. Rare that a band would actually change their setlist from a suggestion.. you must have been very convincing! They play babylon every time anyways.

If I ever get the chance to see 'Arrows fly' that would be nuts [and unlikely]. Totally the song that initially got me into Edguy.

Well it started because I was wearing a shirt that said "fucking" on it... and my girlfriend had one that said "fire" on it. Yes I made them. LOL.
He struck up a convo with me from the stage and one thing led to another... yeah maybe one of my best metal moments ever.

Sadly I'm not friends with that girl anymore so I've just got a random shirt that says "fucking"

Actually, I am totally in support of your statement and would agree on it. But much more I do understand that Edguy needs it's own thread.

I can also see why people say they don't make for a headliner. I already skipped 2 headliner shows at festivals to see Edguy instead, however. ;)

I certainly wouldn't mind seeing them added to the lineup, as they seem to put on a good show, but I'll damned if their last album wasn't all kinds of half-assed. It was so utterly disappointing that I never even bothered to buy it. I personally don't care much for where they've taken their sound.

If you don't already like Hellloween and Gamma Ray, you're probably not into the genre.

They had a killer show couple years ago in Hollywood. We had so much fun and wonderful stage show. Can't wait to see them again.

And if Sonata Arctica and Strato are in the lineup why not Edguy? I bet they would have loved to be on board :P

I would love edguy to come as well. Personally I don't see big deal. They changed their sound slightly but it all still runs together smoothly and still gives off an edguy feel. So in my mind all of their albums have been stellar. However, I would love to see Blind Guardian, Anubis Gate, Falconer, Lost Horizon or Therion on the boat as well.
