Although it might work in the favour of smaller bands in your own country if you do get interviewed and mention their names if you are not in a band yourself.

Again, why it's important for bands, and not us "customers". It's the bands that usually put a better spin on things, rather than the drunk guy who doesn't give a fuck. I too like to fuck with tv, and their perception.

I hate this aspect of music, but it's a reality. And I'd rather see someone I respect taking advantage of it, than some fucko from Blackguard.Sorry, easy joke.

I fucked around with a reporter from some Bulgarian reporter when they tried to interview me at a festival there.Needless to say they muted everything i said when they broadcast it on tv

remember there is much more press abroad then just CNN, maybe if you want to highlight your band, talk to those that really matter.

for Belgium the Los Angeles redaction of hln.be will be there, and they have a very good reputation of promoting bands and festivals.
It's a regular news agency, but many metal magazines will be present of course.

For me, i've been contacted by some, but i'm just crew, i don't matter, let them all interview the bands or managers, much more important.

No. Didn't mean that. Just that you (and other bands) HAVE to take an opportunity to expose your music to people. (This alone could put you into (name your own) festival next year.) And I think the way you're thinking about it will make people seek you out. Free Advertising. On a pretty major (sadly) network.

Don't worry dude I knew what you were getting at, my comment was just an aside to my original post!

I agree with you in a big way though about taking advantage of free advertising. I mean, it would be silly NOT to, right?

However, as I kind of stated before, I feel that maybe some of us can shut down the stereotype of us metalheads being rowdy, drunk idiots (possibly even WHILE being a rowdy drunk idiot! DOUBLE POINTS!) by giving some educated answers.

Unfortunately for all of us, these stereotypes will always exist... it's something I've gotten used to over the years, even if I'm wearing a suit and tie, my glasses, etc to work, I still get weird looks downtown because of the long hair, facial hair, and face piercings. Maybe, though, it's just the apparent juxtaposition...

    Ah well. I'm rambling.

It is only TV ... The "interviews" will likely get chopped up into little sound bites anyway.
But then I have worked for TV over the past 17 years, so not really a big deal to be on TV.

    Just ... :givebeer:

I'm surprised you weren't contacted either. Wow.

I'm not mad, but I have to think that I was likely passenger #1 on the original cruise. I know that my cabinmate, Andrew, and I booked the first possible morning we could at about 10:00 AM that day. I don't know if anyone booked before me (or if Allison has a list somewhere) but I'd like to at least speak about why I booked when I did and how much faith I had in this whole thing when a lot of people thought it was a scam last year

Shared a few e-mails back n' forth with Percival today. Gave him my required stats and consent, told him about the pre-party, encouraged him to get in touch with Donn and offered All Hands on Deck up as free documentary background music ;)

Basically, he said it's just a short 5W (Industry speak I learned for who, what, where, when n' how) interview that shouldn't take much time at all.

As cool as it would be to get on national TV, you know they're just going to chop it up and make the interviewee look like an ass.

Not sure you saw in the earlier part of the thread but this interviewer is fairly well respected for focusing on the positive aspects of unusual events in modern culture. Could be a foolish choice but I'm inclined to trust that the utter amazingness of this event will have the same impact on him and his story as it's had on us and had on most every bit of film that came out of last year's event. Sure, he's no Sam Dunn but I think if the interviewees don't act like asses (or talk out of theirs lol) there's a strong possibility that a large number of viewers are gonna get a decent inside look at the magick of 70K.

But I've been wrong before :?
