Well, for the second year we have no progressive bands. Considering it's one of my favorite genres, I'm really disappointed it's not being represented.

At least Orphaned Land, Atheist, and Therion have some progressive tendencies.

Don't get me wrong, I love the line-up, but pretty much every other major sub-genre has some bands. Maybe this has to do with the type of people in progressive bands? Maybe they wouldn't like the atmosphere.


So I propose a cheers between myself, Laura, Rhia, Dan, Joey, Ryan, Daenerys + Monmisreal, Neckwrecker, and of course any other prog fans that have slipped my mind, to our fallen brethren of weird song structures and time signatures.

If so, you can have my MARTA bus transportation card for Atlanta. Itll save you like 2 bucks and I doubt theres anything short of a Lost Horizon reunion that will make me want to go to the midweek mayhem sets. Have the cruise and hopefully Metalfest Croatia this year so I just dont think I can swing anything else.

you do speak for me...they missed out on prog nearly completely. there were so many choices, too....a lot of people would have went wild over borknagar, ihsahn, andromeda, devin townsend, symphony x, riverside, etc etc etc...

i am hungrily licking my chops for the little proggish scraps they did give me which include pestilence, atheist, and to a degree orphaned land.

sigh. however i am still fucking excited! but i do lament the lack of prog which is my fave genre....

Logically you can make the case that it's the LEAST asked for and popular genre (just based on band requests)

Either way, I don't want this to come off as too gripey, because I am insanely excited for this thing to get going again. Best week ever ahead!

Hopefully sometime in the future a small handful of prog bands in the line-up can appease us pretentious d-bags haha. Hell, even 1 or 2.

I absolutely would request stoner (High On Fire), post (does Neurosis count? Pelican??), metalcore (As I Lay Dying), and industrial metal (Fear Factory again please).

I seem to remember quite a few stoner bands, like Down and The Sword (Austin), being requested. The others don't belong.
