NO Smoking in the Spectrum lounge

    by stoverkill » Tue Jan 31, 2012 12:35 pm

I love to smoke cigarettes... I musta smoked 2 packs a day on broad. That said, it was bad last year and again this year in the Spectrum lounge. Let's just make it non-smoking people. What say you?

you beat me to it, was just about to start the thread and also include NO SMOKING IN BOLEROS.

Boleros has doors right there to the deck, so easy to step outside for a smoke!

Well, I'm a smoker, but I don't really mind if I'm allowed or not.
I mean.. c'mon is it really that hard to survive 1 show without a smoke?
    It's nice that it's allowed, but I wouldn't care if it wasn't :)

Yeah, the smoking drove me crazy after awhile. It was okay the first night, but after that it started to wear on me. As someone who quit smoking it's treacherous. haha. My will power is not this great!

Fuck yes! Smoking is disgusting and I hate being around it. It really ruined the experience in the Spectrum quite a bit.

I would much prefer it if they didn't have smoking in the Spectrum lounge, it didn't bother me but I know it bothered a lot of you and would rather see everyone enjoy their time there. The casino is close by anyways (which is where I would go to smoke between sets that were in the Chorus Line) so its not like we (smokers) would be screwed for options on where to go.

That's a great post to read from a smoker. Very nice.

I know it annoys some smokers that we bitch about it so much but it really is a massive annoyance to those of us that don't partake. It's not like drinking on the ship, where the drinkers aren't forcing the non drinkers to partake, with all the smoke around, it felt like I was being forced to smoke too just to watch a set from a band I wanted to see.

As a non smoker it really didn't seem that bad in there. It didn't really bother me at all. Of course almost every single one of my friends smoke.

I guess it's a pipe dream, but my wish is they abolished it on the entire ship.

Don't they have designated smoking areas ?

Ban smoking in all indoor areas even if I smoke when I drink. It would stop my throat from getting totally hoarse.

    Outside would be great.

I think I had one or two smokes (I smoke about a pack a year, lol) but I did so at night, over the ocean at the end of deck 11.

Honestly, if it was here I wouldn't mind as much. But whatever coffee grounds, dead mice, and concentrated orphan tears they put in American smokes bothers the hell out of me. I never knew there was such a difference, but it was my first time smelling them and damn, they make them different up here. The inside of my nose still smells funny

I am really embarrassed to say that I took up smoking again last year as a result of the tragedy in my life.....Im not one to smoke indoors at all...(of course here in Arizona, it is prohibited)....but in my own home I dont, and if I rent a hotel/Motel, I NEVER get a smoking room, as I do not like to have the smell saturate everything I own.
That was a big reason I quit before......can't stand it.....but I have to confess, that I smoked alot on this cruise...(only where they said I could) of course......But I remember saying to a couple people I was sitting with, that I HATE to smoke around people that DO NOT smoke....with that said....I do plan on kicking the shit outta this nasty habit real soon.....so you won't have to worry about me tainting your lungs next time.....my apologies... I suck :?

the smoke in the Spectrum wasn't too bad - but in the Boleros it was!

I'd ban smoking from the Boleros

It's true. The spectrum was mildly annoying, Boleros was half the reason I never made it to karaoke. I couldn't figure out which side was the smoking side because I couldn't breathe on either

You don't suck ;). You'll kick it

I, of course voted for no smoking in the spectrum or the boleros. I hate cigarette smoke, can't stand it and am completely closed minded about it :? . The feeling of smelling like an ashtray after being in the smoke annoys the piss out of me. There are plenty of areas outside where people can smoke.

It's not being closed minded, it's being called RIGHT. Smoking sucks, and those that don't smoke should NEVER be subjected to it, period. :heavydrink:

Agreed. I've pissed off several people who smoke at work by stating this, but it's true. If there were a way for the smoke to only be inhaled by them then I'd be fine with it.

That's definitely the worst part. Hate when the smell gets on my clothes or the smoke goes in my lungs. I choose not to smoke. Being in the Spectrum made me feel like I was a smoker.

I prefer the concert-hall smoke free. . I'd also love less smoking in the boleros (I can't stay there long unless I'm totally wasted. . )
But I'm not one for enforcing more rules anywhere, really. .

As long as there are some places i can hang around and be spared of it (the schooner worked well in that aspect) - I'm a happy camper !

A definite 'no' if I can choose. I see a lot of cool pictures from the last night in Boleros and realise that I missed most of those moments because I simply couldn't handle the lack of oxygen in there anymore (well that wasn't the only reason, but at least the main one).

I only saw 4 shows in the Spectrum and I don't think it was bad, actually I don't even think I smelled any smoke during the two Moonsorrow sets. So I wasn't bothered at all, but I thought it was really bad in boleros, especially the last night (and this comes from a smoker that loves smokey places!).

i agree, it was far worse in boleros. spectrum seemed to be worse last year than this year with smokiness, but i was ok in there as a nonsmoker! boleros smoking is just silly though, the doors outside are all around, it should be pretty easy to catch a smoke there.

i'd be all for just no smoking in boleros.

My vote is for designated smoking areas outside only. Boleros was brutal.

No problem to bann all smoking inside, but outside it should be allowed without any restriction. They could also start a shisha club in the Viking lounge, which would be cool.
