The best but worst VERSUS lineup Barge/70K

    by SatansWrath » Fri Mar 16, 2012 7:56 am

Well since it will be almost impossible for us Scandinavians to get to both cruises I feared that the bands will choose for you on which cruise you will go.
Then I realized that it will almost be horrible to have two cruises since probably half what you listen too will go to barge and the rest for 70k.

This is mine and my girl worst fear top 12 list in this band versus the cruises.

    BARGE
    1. Behemoth
    2. Slayer
    3. Amon Amarth
    4. Arch Enemy
    5. Dimmu Borgir
    6. Vader

    70000 TONS OF METAL
    1. Turisas
    2. Motörhead
    3. Fear Factory
    4. Sabaton
    5. Crimfall
    6. Xandria (only playing their newest cd because thats bloody awsome)

What is your worst "versus" list of favourite bands on the different cruises ?
    http://parethardrock.se/

Pissed of whishlist for the cruises:
Turisas, Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, Dalriada, Motorhead, Vader, Arch Enemy, Abinchova, Northland, Sear Bliss, Watain, Slayer, Raubtier, Immortal, Xandria, Fear Factory, Rammstein, Running Wild

Cool topic! Since I can most likely only swing one cruise, and I'm leaning towards 70K I secretly hope that the Barge lineup sucks. It would be very sad if I can't go to one of the cruises and they both have stellar lineups. Of course, I'd me mighty happy if the cruise I do end up going on ended up with either of these top 6's.

    Barge to Hell:

    1. Emperor
    2. Immortal
    3. Behemoth
    4. Melechesh
    5. Rotting Christ
    6. Kampfar

    70000 Tons of Metal:

    1. Symphony X
    2. Falconer
    3. Powerwolf
    4. Wintersun
    5. Equilibrium
    6. Arkona

This reminds me of when I used to buy albums instead of just picking the songs I liked.

Oh this is a good topic. Everybody who is a Symphony X fan (like myself) should know that they are probably not going to play on a cruise ship. From what I've heard it's because they're not really fan friendly and being on a cruise ship, it would be hard to avoid people.

Well with that said, it all depends on the line-up for me for either cruise. So for my wishlist:

    Barge to Hell:

    1. Morbid Angel
    2. Dimmu Bogir (performing Enthrone Darkness in it's entirety)
    3. At The Gates
    4. Nile
    5. Abigail Williams
    6. Keep Of Kalessin

    70000 Tons of Metal:

    1. Anthrax
    2. Meshuggah
    3. Twisted Sister
    4. Turisas
    5. Arkona
    6. Equilibrium
    Melloboat - 2008
    70k Tons - 2011
    70k Tons - 2013
    70k Tons - 2018

I still have doubts about that. I've met the band a couple of times and they were really friendly (especially Russell). A couple of the guys come off as extremely shy, so maybe that could affect it, but I'm still holding out hope for Symphony X in 2013

I asked Michael Lepond and he said the reason they turned it down is cus of the Iced Earth tour.

Well, Andy should try to book them again! Hopefully if he books them quickly they won't have any prior plans.

Yeah, unfortunately though I don't think that matters cus a tour would trump a one off festival. That's why Stratovarius had to pull out of the first one. Hopefully they smarten up and get on the cruise.

While I'm definitely a 'power metal weenie', its not beyond comprehension that BTH could end up with a lineup that I'd kill for.

    BTH
    Arch Enemy
    Mayan
    Sons Of Seasons
    Tourniquet
    Living Sacrifice
    Believer

70K 2013 - if these 6 were on broad, I would go no question
    Within Temptation
    Van Canto
    Ten
    Magnum
    Tarja
    Unisonic
    Upcoming Gigs:
    Wolves-In-The-Throne-Room-/-Halestorm-/-70K

The only thing I'm worried about with Barge is melodic death metal and maybe some thrash. There would have to be a lot of bands that would convince me to go on BTH and not 70k.

    BTH
    1. Hypocrisy
    2. Kalmah
    3. Insomnium
    4. Omnium Gatherum
    5. Wintersun
    6. Before The Dawn
    7. At The Gates
    8. Beyond Creation
    9. Artillery
    10. Onslaught

    70K
see my wishlist. No way I could pick out 5 bands. Those are all bands that I still haven't seen/don't have any concrete plans to see.

    Barge
    Testament
    Slayer

    70K Tons
    Blind Guardian
    Sabaton
    Symphony X
    Iced Earth
    Edguy
    Stratovarius

Since I'll be on 70K Tons for sure, its more of what I'm worried they will put on Barge to Hell that I want on 70K!!

I would thing that maybe the only you have to worry about is Slayer, since all the others were just on 70K.... though who knows, maybe they will share

I definitely could see at least repeats from the first cruise happening this time around.

That's a big negative, good sir. Rather, I'm facing the likelihood that I won't be able to do both Barge & 70K13, so I'm hoping all the pahhrrrr metal bands get booked for 70K & all the good bands get booked on Barge. :deathmetal: :deathmetal: :deathmetal: :D
2012 - You never forget your first time. And MDB.
    Barge - Ruled. Period.
2015 - Booked early, soft lineup.
2016 - Awesome. Best lineup since Barge.
    2018 - Great time.
    2020 - Hypocrisy or bust.

At the moment I think I'm most likely attending Barge to Hell. Will do 70k if the lineup is good enough. And that means no Arkona and lots of girlie stuff.
Epica, Nemesea, Within Temptation, Triosphere and no Arkona is my wish list for 70k.

Oh, and no Slayer, on either cruise.

Exactly, your supposed to list bands you like though :beerwink: But I'll quit busting your balls now. I (again) hope that the lineup this year is less good so I have more time to hang out with yall!

I went the "dream line-up" route. I'm hoping that UMC makes it less painful for me to miss 70K13 by booking power metal bands so, actually, that would be my dream line-up for 70K! That won't be the case, I'm sure, and I'll be grousing once I see a few bands I really like on 70K13. But, as a death metal fan there will simply be more bands I like on Barge. If I could do both, I would in a heartbeat. At this point, though, it's so unlikely I'm not even willing to entertain the thought. :viking:

Yeah, not a lot of us could pull doing both unless they don't do any other trips the rest of the year. I don't think it'll b too hard for me to miss BTH but there will definitely be a handful of bands that I'll gripe about missing.

Well, you're not the only one.
I'm a huge fan of technical death metal (Origin, Brain Drill...), death metal (HoB, Death, Morbid Angel...), goregrind (Aborted, Benighted...), doom (Cathedral, Candlemass...), 70's rock (Uriah Heep, Deep Purple...) and female-led metal. Oh, and I like lots of pop music as well. And The Cardigans is one of my all-time favourites.

And yes, I even liked the new Korn album.
