That's good to know :) I'd hate to think ill of Within Temptation!!

And yeah, as much as I'd love them on broad this year, it would be beyond even Andy's level of craziness to announce them this late in the game.

I would imagine that BTH has torn a hole in the cash and now possibly the financial resources are not as abundant. Therefore I do not expect more with the confirmation of larger bands. :?

Don't think I'd be able to control myself if WT were a late addition :wank:

I've never listened to Lizzy Borden. I've seen the albums in the shops and the photo's in the magazines etc etc but never had a listen.
Just had Visual Lies on - I like this :D
This ship needs more gothic, symphonic, female fronted bands, but I can handle some THRASH!!!

Find me onbroad @ Doro Sabaton Lacuna Coil In Flames Nile Dragonforce Rage Anacrusis
Helloween Delain Gotthard Kreator Angra Metal Church Tiamat Vika Yermolyeva Lizzy Borden

Oh well, at least we've got one of the founding members of W.T. on broad :)

Think I'll take my cd booklets from "Enter" and "Mother Earth" along for Martijn to sign :)

No way I'm gonna sit in the hot tub when my favourite band is playing!
Well, my favourite band isn't playing on 70K this year anyway...

    Pink Floyd :D

No in terms of metal it would probably be Iced Earth. Opeth, Testament, Annihilator, Savatage and Amorphis get pretty close ;)
Sodom are a very good band too indeed, but they wouldn't make it into my top 10 I think.

cowboy71 wrote:Time for statsman to reach into his bag of tricks for some interesting (well I think they are interesting anyway!) stats!

Using last.fm listeners as a measure of "popularity" its interesting to note that in the current 2013 lineup, there are only 10 bands with more than 200,000 listeners:
IN FLAMES, LACUNA COIL, DRAGONFORCE, HELLOWEEN, KREATOR, ENSIFERUM, SABATON, TIAMAT, ANGRA, NILE

The lineups for 2011 and 2012 had 17 and 16 respectively.

So will we get 6 or 7 'big' bands in the final announcements? That would be nice. Bands from my wishlist that have over 200,000 listeners would be:
WITHIN TEMPTATION, AVANTASIA, LEAVES EYES, XANDRIA, ACCEPT

Another interesting fact - months back, I went through 'wishlists' in the 2013 wishlist thread, and collated the info there. Currently we have 5 bands from the top 15 most requested:
    Helloween, Kreator, Arkona, Turisas, Hedevolk

    The other 10 bands were:
Accept, Immortal, King Diamond, Running Wild, Hypocrisy, Symphony X, Kalmah, Powerwolf, Bolt Thrower, Madder Mortem

I would be totally agreeable with a few off that list :)

That's why i think I will not join this year but you know I am just 1 or 2 bands away of changing my mind.

Dark Tranquillity, Accept, Unisonic, Xandria, Running Wild, King D., Amon Amarth....

for smaller acts: Damnation Game, This cold life, Triosphere, Before the dawn....

Last year there was a stripper in the tub Thurs morning.
It took more that an hour for the staff come and tell her to put her top on.
No it was not worth seeing.

We Have Found The HOLY GRAIL!

    by Andy » Wed Jan 09, 2013 12:38 pm

Our North American Scouting Party is still in Southern California. No wonder, because this is where they have found the HOLY GRAIL! Will they go straight to Miami to board 70000TONS OF METAL, The World's Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise, or do they still have some unfinished business on the North American West Coast?

Very happy about this announcement but would be crushed if they weren't coming thru Vancouver soon with Metal Alliance tour. Easily one of my top 5 new metal discoveries in recent years and imagine they'll be both well-seasoned from all their recent touring as well as a bit road-weary and much deserving of 4 1/2 days on the ship of dreams with all you lucky bastards!

WTG Andy!! Great add and likely more than many were expecting at this late date. Had this been announced when I still had time to book off work, I'd be joining you all again but such is life lol.

Seen 'em 6 times since December 2010, amazing amazing live act.

One of my coworkers went to college with their bassist, Blake, so she just texted and congratulated him. They're pumped. I'm pumped. This isn't the best musical announcement for me, but the best personal announcement (other than Nekrogoblikon, of course; I'm not really "personal friends" with many bands. . .).

Solid announcement. I'm guessing they'll get one of the coveted 10am pool deck slots. I may drag my still drunk ass out of bed to catch it.

And now that they've found the HOLY GRAIL, it's time to make a SACRIFICE! :P

Seen them twice. They put on a killer live show. They are a solid addition but its been a while since there has been an announcement that gets me really excited.

Still hoping for a solid melo death band.

Alright, but not exciting. A lot of B-bands (/C?) on this one compared to the first two editions.
