Very interesting gap in dates. They would have one heck of a trip to make it to the Moscow show with the time difference and length of flight.

This wouldn't do anything for getting me on. Stones Grow Her Name was TEEEERRRIBBLLEE except the last 2 songs.

70000 Tons of Metal 2011 was the last chance I gave Sonata Arctica and I almost feel bad having this user name still (but I've been using it on every site ever since like 2002. . .). Their sets were totally uninspired. Besides two songs, the setlists were the exact same they've been playing for years. While I'm one of the few that actually think 'Unia' is their best album, I don't know what happened since then. Elias is a FANTASTIC guitarist and they hardly utilize his talents at all.

I can't even say I'd go see both sets if they played. After pre-ordering special editions of every album they've released since Ecliptica, I haven't even bought 'Stones Grow Her Name'. I am not pleased. And they went from favorite band from like 2001-2008 to not being in my playlists anymore. Such a sad downfall.

I actually really liked Unia and even Days Of Grays just as much as any of their older albums.

Those two took a while to grow on me but I do enjoy them, just not nearly as much as the older ones. Reckoning Night is my favorite.

Silence got me in to them, and they peaked at Reckoning night in my opinion. They're just so boring live...

Unia >= Winterheart's Guild > Reckoning Night > The Days of Grays > Ecliptica > Silence > Stones Grow Her Name

Just my opinion. WHG doesn't have any bad songs on it, but I really, really like where they went with Unia.
'Reckoning Night' and 'The Days of Grays' are pretty close IMO too. Reckoning Night has three of their worst songs, IMO (Misplaced, Blinded No More, Wildfire) but also three of their best (White Pearl, Black Oceans, Ain't Your Fairytale, The Boy Who Wanted To Be A Real Puppet).

I'm surprised you put Ecliptica that far down. It's still pretty high up for me. That's the album that really got me into metal though. I think we can all agree that SGHN is by far their worst.

Well, having them on the cruise would mean we all get about an hour to either check one of the cool bands or just drink like Irishmen in Saint Patrick's Day.

    quite hard to rank'em
but I do like the new album a lot
I personally would like to see them on braod again - (not) just to have'em walk around like penguins all the time - but for the balance of the billing SA wouldn't be a very good addition...

Had a friend at the show in Poland last night. She said the setlist was obviously heavily focused on the new stuff, but they did play 'The Gun'.

Seen SA 11 times. Have never seen them play 'The Gun' live. If they happened to be on broad again (and those missing tour dates make it seem like it's a possibility) I would catch a set just to see them perform that song live.

I'd never seen Edguy before, but I saw them a couple of days ago and it was definitely a power metal show. Maybe becasue Age of The Joker is more metal than their previous "new" albums?

I actually have enjoyed Stones Grow Her Name since there is sooooooo much crap music on American airwaves or just the plain lack of anything worth listening to, SA has the best set of tunes out there despite the fact they have kind of ripped off Motley Crue’s video of “Girls, Girls, Girls” with “Shitload of Money” video plus what’s up with Tony wearing a cowboy hat. That is sooooo ’80 pop metal look when every US band wanted to be a cowboy. Remember these guys, http://youtu.be/oKU7AadwZ7o

Seen SA 11 times. Have never seen them play 'The Gun' live. If they happened to be on broad again (and those missing tour dates make it seem like it's a possibility) I would catch a set just to see them perform that song live.

The Gun? Really? Quite a surprise - but on the other hand it fits the newer stuff...
so it's gonna be more of a fun rock show - like Edguy in recent years...

I'd never seen Edguy before, but I saw them a couple of days ago and it was definitely a power metal show. Maybe becasue Age of The Joker is more metal than their previous "new" albums?

you just reminded me that I haven't listened to the album since 70k :)
I've seen show(s) where half of the set was not typical powermetal: Superheros, Lavatory Love Machine, Trinidad plus all the songs from the one or two records prior to "Joker"...
    wishlist '20:
    Axxis - Blind Guardian - Circus Maximus - Doro - Edguy - Frozen Crown - Heavens Gate - Magnum - Opeth - Pretty Maids - Ravenous - Satan - Shadowpath - Silex - Skyclad - Steel Attack - Viathyn - Voyager - Wuthering Heights - 4th Dimension

Agreed. I actually openmindlesly checked out a set and it was definitely not for me.
