Majesty of The Seas Now Allows You To Bring...

    by BloodRedMike » Fri Nov 16, 2012 12:35 pm

...2 bottles of wine onboard per room. Not a huge deal, but it helps for the wine drinkers out there. Pop it in your room and take it to dinner=no corkage fee. There's also a new invention called Rumrunnerflasks..wink :gulp: Cheers. See you in 2 weeks. :viking:

It is. It started on Nov. 1st. I usually get wine packages, and they mentioned this to me today.

    Here's the policy

Q: Can I bring liquor or non-alcoholic beverages (from home or from a port) onbroad?

A: Guests are not allowed to bring beer, hard liquor or non-alcoholic beverages onbroad for consumption or any other use. Guests wishing to bring personal wine and champagne onbroad may do so only on broading day, limited to two (2) 750 ml bottles per stateroom. When consumed in any public area, each bottle shall be subject to a corkage fee of $25.00. Additional bottles of wine beyond two (2) bottles that are brought onbroad or any alcoholic beverages purchased in ports-of-call or from Shops On Broad will be stored by the ship and delivered to your stateroom on the last day of the sailing. Alcoholic beverages seized on embarkation day will not be returned.

Security may inspect containers (water bottles, soda bottles, mouthwash, luggage etc.) and will dispose of containers holding alcohol. Guests who violate any alcohol policies, (over consume, provide alcohol to people under age 21, demonstrate irresponsible behavior, or attempt to conceal alcoholic items at security and or luggage check points or any other time), may be disembarked or not allowed to broad, at their own expense, in accordance with our Guest Conduct Policy. Guests who are under the permitted drinking age will not have alcohol returned to them.

Please Note: All guests must comply with TSA guidelines for transporting liquids

I can't believe you changed all the boards to broads.

I doubt my "Dimebag Whiskey Mouthwash" would work anymore.
Never take anything I say seriously.

Shit the wine I would bring is not worth the $25 corkage fee! LOFINGL!
At this fee they might as well let you bring beer too, then they could charge $10 to open the bottle for you! :chug:

Either drink the wine in the room or get some kind of beverage container for the public areas ;)

According to the policy, it seems it only would apply if consumed in any of the public areas.

1,5l whisky and what you drink next day. I drink Thai whiskey called "sang song" in Thailand that was 80 %. maby 1,5l of that takes 3 days - not.

Last year I had a liter of genever, 0.7L of rum and two hip flasks of whisky. I expected that to be enough for the whole cruise, but it was all finished by the second evening  I was soooo happy when we got our new rum from the Caymans onbroad :D

I'm not talking in days people, I'm talking in drunks. As in, drink 0.5 L of hard liquor in an hour. Be drunk for a few hours. Later that day, drink another 0.5 L in an hour, be drunk for a few hours, etc.

Last year I smuggled on 4 L of hard liquor and still spent $300 on beer. I'm no amateur!

So, how did the new wine policy work on Barge? I read on facebook that there were no drink packages available other than the soda package, but don't remember seeing anything about the bring-your-own-wine policy.

I had two bottles of unopened wine (for Meredith) in my backpack that I carried on the boat with me. I didn't try to conceal them in any way.
The bottles went through the scanner and no one as much as asked to see what they were. Maybe they could tell by the shape that they were wine bottles?

Alcohol and corkage policies change at Royal Caribbean International

    RCI introduce new rules:

From 1 November 2012, Royal Caribbean decided to give their passengers greater flexibility in what alcoholic drinks they take onboard.

Now passengers are permitted to bring wine onboard with them as they arrive for their cruise. This is great news for you, if you have a bottle that you think will make your holiday even more complete!  This new allowance is limited to two bottles per stateroom.

However, if you wish to take your wine and drink in any of the ship’s restaurants or bars, there will be a corkage fee of $25.00.

The corkage fee doesn’t always apply, however, and there are a few important conditions. So read the following carefully: If you are a passenger and receive a wine as an amenity (such as Gifts and Gear (including TA Reduced Rate menu), GAP, etc.) you will be able to drink this in your stateroom or in any public area on the ship without having to pay a corkage fee. The public areas include the dining room, the speciality restaurants and the bars and lounges. However, a passenger who gets their bottle of wine from an external vendor or from a travel agent will have to pay the $25.00 corkage fee if they want to drink it on the ship. The important condition for the corkage fee not applying is if the bottle of wine was bought from Royal Caribbean’s Gifts and Gear selection. If not, a corkage fee is put on the guest’s account.

    Other alcohol rules:

Only wine can be brought onto the ship before the cruise departs. Any other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be seized by security (who do conduct a thorough check and may inspect containers in your luggage). Remember, if you have drinks you shouldn’t have in your luggage, these won’t be returned. Alcoholic beverages that are purchased in ports-of-call, or from Shops On Board, will be stored for you and you’ll receive these again on the last day of your trip. Consecutive cruise guests receive their purchased drinks during their last cruise. Lastly, remember that no open liquor bottles can be consumed in the dining areas or public areas.

As you can see, there are still quite strict rules about alcoholic drinks on Royal Caribbean, but these are still for a good reason. It’s better for the wider passenger experience and for the safety of all the guests that there are rules about exactly where alcohol can be consumed on the ship. But the changes that Royal Caribbean have introduced will give some flexibility to those who have particular wine tastes and want to enjoy their favourite tipple to make their holiday even more perfect.

You could bring an unused one for "tobacco use only". :beerwink:
You could also bring / find materials onbroad to make a gravity bong.

I ordered the cruise kit off Amazon. And will be using it on 70K for the first time. In 2008, My very first cruise I went on Simple Man Cruise , I had a bottle of vodka and a bottle of jager and 10 plane bottles of Patron Tequila in bottles. All of it in bottles and wrapped in my jeans in my luggage. To my amazement it was still intact when my luggage arrived to my cabin.
