I loved Paradise Lost. I'm a fanboy. I thought it was a dream to hear some of these songs live. Being from the U.S. I literally would never having the chance to really see them playing some of these old rare songs. It was a amazing. Nick Holmes may not have the power in his vocals he used to, but he's a hilarious frontman and I was overjoyed w/ both sets. They didn't fit the "theme" of the cruise necessarily, but neither did other acts I loved like Sanctuary or Soilwork.

Here is what Paradise Lost played over two sets: (for fans that didn't go)

    From Shades of God:

    As I Die
    Pity the Sadness

    From Icon

    Embers Fire
    Widow
    True Belief

    From Draconian Times

    Enchantment
    The Last Time
    Forever Failure

    From One Second

    One Second
    Just Say Words
    Soul Courageous

    From Symbol of Life

    Erased
    No Celebration

    From In Requiem

    The Enemy
    Praise Lamented Shade

From Faith Divides Us Death Unites Us

Faith Divides Us Death Unites Us
    The Rise of Denial

    From Tragic Idol

    Fear of Impending Hell
    Honesty In Death
    In This We Dwell
    Tragic Idol
    ---------------------------------------------------------

I can do this for Sepultura, Soilwork, and most of Moonspell (missed second set due to illness but got good info) as well if anyone cares.

    +1

I love Paradise Lost, but their vocalist does NOT sound good live.

I'm not talking about his on-stage demeanor. I thought that was great and fit the music they play very well. I just mean his voice didn't sound great live at all IMO.

Still loved both of their sets though.

I don't think anyone will disagree with you there . Though if he just stuck to clean vocals I think he'd be okay

His voice sounds like the selloutish One Second, Believe In Nothing, Host, Symbol of Life days. He doesn't sound like how he does on Icon / Draconian Times or the last few albums when that gruff vocal style has reigned supreme again. He just uses the more clean style on all songs for some reason. Maybe it strains his vocals too much live. No idea.

These are things I already knew so no disappointment from my end.

While his voice is delicate at times, there obviously were sound issues. And obviously as a commenter you're not a very great commenter.

See, sometimes being a little objective instead of resorting to blind and false admiration will aid to cherish a group of musicians, even as they evolve. But hey, if people on forums are in agreement then it must be so, right. ^^

Huh? Did you not see how I said I liked them? They were a wish list band for me. I just think the harsher vocals don't sound so great live. Why the personal attack? Didn't know we were rated on our commenting skills, especially by someone with 3 posts basically crying about people not sharing your opinion

    Sinking Ship,

You are misinterpreting what I'm saying. I loved PL live. Don't fuck w/ my PL fanship bud. Hell, I posted both of their entire setlists FROM MEMORY on the cruise. That means I know their shit.

Nick's live vocals are from the sellout era. It's a fact. If you are disputing there was a sellout era, you're hilarious. You don't "evolve" from Icon to Host. You sell out from Icon to Host. All artists in big bands eventually get tired of traveling in vans and end up wanting a house w/ a little money. Alot of their fans end up w/ that (most patrons on the cruise have disposable income or they are just making bad choices) so why shouldn't the band? Some bands unfortunately go about trying to get that the wrong way.
