WINTERSUN for 70000 Tons of Metal 2013!

    by wut3v4 » Tue Dec 11, 2012 12:45 pm

Wintersun would be a very nice addition to the line up imo. Not sure if anyone has already started a thread for this. I was checking out their tour dates on their official website and there is a huge gap in between their current North American tour and European tour dates. I already saw some people on here mentioning they MIGHT get added to the 2014 cruise. But no harm in asking for 2013!

Again, I would be surprised if they were NOT on 70K 2013. Everything seems to work out too well given the tour dates, the current tour in the US, how in demand they are, how much fun they seem to be having this tour, etc.

I'm pretty sure most of us would like them on broad.

Since they don't seem to be touring Mexico in the near future, I particularly wish to see them added.

Doing my best to be there for 2015.

Another small part of me can die happy now that I've seen them live. Anyways, they were tight as fuck, performed great (3-part vocals = awesome!), and looked like they were having an absolute blast. I'd be up for watching them a couple more times!

I won't get to see them during their North American tour unfortunately. Seeing everyone talk about it makes me even more jealous! So please book 'em, UMC!

Seeing Wintersun on Friday night, definitely going to have some cruise chats with them. I would love Wintersun onbroad 70K 2013, the Caribbean may not be wintery, but it is sunny, I suppose.

You saw them pretty early on in the tour, right? Like, 2nd show? Maybe they were a little rusty or something.

Also, how's the sound at the venue you saw them at? I stood pretty far back but the sound was pretty good; I could hear all three vocal mics and the backing orchestrations came through pretty clear over the P.A.

Varg had a fun presence, decent songs. Wintersun were realllllly tight and played pretty awesome. During Eluveitie I kinda just shot the shit with some buddies and drank a whackload of beer. Caught a few songs I liked but they were pretty hampered by the stage size.

Anyways, I'm usually pretty critical of sound and performance, I'm going to just assume a combination of venue sound and a potential off-night for the show you were at. (I'm only being so forward with this assumption because I know you and I have relatively similar tastes and generally have thought the same performances were awesome on the boat as each other)

I'm pretty tough to please too, especially once I've seen a band 4+ times. But to my understanding, this is Wintersun's first North American tour. They're skipping a lot of cities too. I won't get the chance to see them during this tour unfortunately. So considering the fact that they're new to North America and considering how well of a response they've been receiving (such as selling out lots of shows), this should be more of a reason to add them to the 70K TOM 2013 line up!

It would probably help to boost some sales too ;)

Yeah, very early on and the venue was terrible. They don't hold shows there often for that specific reason (it's just set up weird, wish I could get a picture of the inside). The guys were having tons of fun though and I really appreciate when a band looks like they're truly enjoying themselves on stage.

Eluveitie was awful. I posted in the Wintersun/Eluveitie thread my review. The sound had a lot to do with that, too -- Anna's mic cut off during 'The Siege' (which was definitely one of the songs I was looking forward to) and Chrigel just sounded terrible the whole night.

I'm always pretty critical too. I obviously haven't played a ton of live shows or for crowds as big as you have (or in any consistent bands for more than like 4 months at a time, just random spot stuff), but I'm a pretentious musician and if things can be improved and tweaked somewhere I always get confused when they're not as good as they can be.

I would LOOOOVE if Wintersun was on the ship! My husband really likes them and has been anxiously awaiting their new album. He doesn't know we're booked for this trip yet (it's part of his Christmas!) and so far there are a lot of his favorites on broad. This would just make the surprise that much better! So I give two thumbs up for a possible Wintersun appearance!!

Yeah if the venue sound was bad, that maybe would have ruined it for me as well. Sorry about that shit, man!

Eluveitie actually sounded pretty good in Calgary. Anna was spot on and Chigrel has certainly sounded better but I was pleasantly surprised after reading how bad he was for you

Anyways, I'm with you too about live sound. Mid-range is your friend if you're a guitar player! Less is more in the volume department! Get a really good kicks/snare/overhead ratio going on for drums! Sound guys that shouldn't be sound guys make me scratch my head..

Right click the picture, go to properties if you're using IE or FF and copy the url, or if you're in chrome just right click and click copy url. Then, put the url in between these tags, with NO spaces. It should end in .jpeg or .ppg or something

Isn't it sort of funny that WINTERSUN will be playing their last show of the North American tour on the day of the WINTER SOLSTICE which also [supposedly] happens to be the end of the world?!
