I'm a bit more picky myself, I want Amon Amarth AND Hypocrisy, then they can fill the boat after.

Why not? Not like the majority of people live in areas to see the tours that you're talking about anyway.

Next year I'm perhaps looking for a comeback for 70000 Tons. This year I chose the Monsters Of Rock cruise instead, because the bands on 70000 Tons weren't my first choice, so to speak. C'mon, announce a few bands, so I can already now make my plans for early 2014.

Actually just as good as 70000 Tons in 2011 and 2012, I must say.

Since most bands on the MORC were hard rock bands or heavy metal light, I missed a little action on the stages, even though this was something I already knew before ordering my tickets. There were also way less Europeans and people from the rest of the world on this cruise, which I see as a good thing, because it's easier to connect with people who speak proper English. Many Europeans (read Germans) stay in their small groups the entire cruise, due to language boundaries. On MORC there must have been something like 90-95 % North Americans.

The MSC Poesia would be a better ship on a regular cruise, but the Majesty is overall better on a metal cruise. First and most important, the pool stages. The Majesty has a somewhat flat deck when covered, while the Poesia has pool walls reaching 2 feet above the floor, making people's views obstructed. In the Theatre on the Poesia you're not allowed to drink anything, not even water. This sucked ass, because I hate being not sober and then just stand there without a beer or a drink for 60-90 minutes. Problem solved by running to a bar and drink real fast and then run back into the theatre again. The Spectrum vs the Zebra lounge: 60-40 in favor for Zebra. A little more space, making it easier to actually see the band playing. It's more crowded in front of the stages on the Majesty. The bands (read the American bands) were hiding in their own grounds more than on 70000 Tons. I didn't even see half of them and when I saw some, a couple of them walked with a guard. Saxon was as always cool though and probably spent all day around the fans.

The bar personnel works much harder and there are more bars or places to get a drink on 70000 Tons and also a better service on that matter. Most of us had prepaid drink tickets and with only a few people in the bars, there occasionally was a 10 minute wait.

It's really hard to separate the cruises and I believe I will have a hard time to choose which one to go to next year, that's why I'm eager to see the 70000 Tons lineup asap. The MORC will probably have just about the same lineup as they've had these two last cruises.

Doesn't seem like a tough decision, from what you said...slower service, no pool view, less access to musicians, no beer during concerts??!

Shit. I was really hoping booking was gonna hold off for a bit. I don't think we can pay for a booking right now. This fucking sucks.

Yeah it kinda sucks nuts. I'm hoping that the first bands are announced over the weekend, so I've got a better idea of whether I should try and lock in a cabin straight away.....

Weird that they haven't put the booking announcement on the forum yet.

Not sure i want to buy into the whole booking blindly thing again. I need at least one band I like before booking, especially if this 'special thing' for 3+ time cruisers is just earlier booking. That's not really gonna cut it. If we all keep booking blindly we will never get announcements in a timely matter.

Yeah, I'm not booking blind this year and it looks like the cabinmates I've had the last 3 years aren't too thrilled about that idea either.

As always, there will be cabins in December available, so I'm not worried about missing out, but I'm going to take my time on this one and likely just end up on the boat when one of my wishlist bands get announced =P

I'm willing to bet we'll see some band announcements this weekend. At least, that's what I'm hoping, before Monday night.

No 70K for me. I haven't had a wishlist band since Venom was announced, and I would never consider booking without any bands being mentioned.
Never take anything I say seriously.

Who even cares what bands are being announced at this point???

I had so much fun on all of these cruises, it doesn't even matter to me. There are a bunch of bands that I could care less about, (like Doro or Turisas last time... I'd prolly never buy there CDs) but when you are seeing them live, they are so much more fun.

Plus I always look forward to seeing all my cruiser friends. No way I'm going to miss it.

Now, I’m still waiting to hear what other perks Andy is going to have for those of us who have been on multiple cruises. This will be my 5th, so I better get a free t-shirt at the very least.
