Seems it hasn't been uploaded here yet, but the main website now confirms Bonfire, Cynic, Novembers Doom and DTA

I suppose that makes for a happy new year to all! :viking:

Awesome. I know most of you are psyched about this. I am very happy too.

Some power metal would be nice, though.

I think we can forget it at this point, and I'm extremely disappointed that there's no power metal. It makes absolutely no sense to me, as much as I like DTA and Cynic.

Even the Bonfire one underwhelms me. Not saying they're bad or I don't like them, just a band I've never bothered checking out.

So I'll probably see a set of them, but don't see me checking out DTA, Cynic or ND at all.

I thought there was some momentum after the last few announcements, but given the Orphaned Land "rumor" and now this announcement. . .I hate to say this, but I'm really glad I didn't blindly book this year.

Yeah, not to take anything from Andy, because I think he did a great job booking a lineup this year...that just isn't a lineup for me. 4-5 bands might be two setters from me, but I expect to have a lot of quality hot tub time at least. I guess you can't choose when bands tour and that stuff, but it would have been nice to have a more balanced lineup between this year and last year, rather than barge to rainbows last year (yes!) and barge to hell this year (no!)

Exactly. It's not his fault that certain bands aren't touring, so I'm not blaming Andy or management or anything, but this lineup -- to me -- is super weak.

The only bands I can really say I'd check out twice are Orphaned Land and Symphony X. In the past years I had to strategically plan my week to make sure I didn't miss anyone I really wanted to see. Oh well.

Chicago's Novembers Doom is a brilliant, brilliant band - for those who do not know of them or have not seen them (one of my live gig highlights in 2013 with Anneke - so sweet) - check "em out. :)

Having said that, I'm with a few of the other posters who have basically said no "love lost" on not booking 70K 2014. ;)

Only 3 bands that a REALLY want to check two sets so far...

But Cynic is awesome, at least one set is mandatory!! DTA is a must!!

    the other ones... just meh...

the overall 70k 2014 line up doesn't seem to be made for me... but you can't have it all...

But i'll have a trip of a lifetime, no matter which bands are playing!! As long as we have some good quality metal, i'll be headbanging!! :deathhorns:

(but some 1st class power metal wouldn't hurt, you know...)

I agree with you!! For me, maybe I'm just unlucky this time around that the lineup and my peculiar taste just don't see eye to eye :P

This year has a large proportion of bands that "I may check out a set of" but only 3 or 4 that "I must see both sets of".

But, still 11 or 12 or even 13 bands to go to complete the lineup. Who knows what they may be? :)

Cynic and Death.... these are HUGE things. I'm fucking stoked.

The leprous and ihsahn rumours have been the ones I've been anticipating the most... hopefully they follow through. Oh, and the 1-2 HUGE power metal bands that should be on broad to balance out the lineup ;)

The lineup so far seems pretty good, but definitely skewed towards the death/doom/thrash/black crowd (ie, "brvtals"). I do love me some death metal, and Death is fucking awesome. Hadn't checked out Cynic until the rumors started, but I like what I hear. A lot. No idea on Novembers Doom or Bonfire, but ND seems to be a doom band, so I'll probably skip it. Is Bonfire this year's Gotthard? If so, I'll definitely check them out!

Mainly, this year's lineup has many bands that I like, but only one that I LOVE (Orphaned Land), and maybe Yossi won't be onbroad, so... Yeah, for my personal tastes, this year's lineup is probably the weakest. Of course, if one or two big power metal names are announced... Well, that'd definitely change things.

So hitting Youtube as soon as I get home.

To be honest, I'm way more excited about seeing you all than about the bands themselves. :bangers:

DTA and Cynic are awesome adds, thankfully I've seen them.

    Really great lineup this year.

Really sad on the Orphaned Land news. They are fucking DONE now. DONE.

X-Thor wrote:The lineup so far seems pretty good, but definitely skewed towards the death/doom/thrash/black crowd (ie, "brvtals").

:bangers:

Hector, my friend, I have to disagree with you since there's really not that much actual thrash on here. At first it was looking like a thrash lineup but for me other than Overkill and I guess DA there's not much thrash. I'm hoping that will change and we magically get Sacrifice and Paradox. I hope you guys get your 2 power bands and I get 3 thrashers. Only need one more solid Death Metal add at this point since the heavy music this cruise is definitely covered. :death:

    Good stuffs.
I am sure the remaining announcements are going to be good.
I know many are disappointed with this years line up, I am definitely not. I was finding the line up more interesting than the 2013 70k one a few announcements ago.

DTA and Cynic are both definite two-setters, so this year's lineup looks already better than last year's disaster as a whole. A couple more Dutch bands (old school death metal and girlie bands) would make a happy Chewie.

If we got Obscura onbroad, it would make up for Luftwaffe cancelling our flights to Essen in December to see them and DTA. :beerwink:

Been listening to Bonfire. Definite two-setter for me!

Also, it seems Yossi leaving OL is official. He just wrote that on his FB page. So now I'm way less excited about seeing them onbroad.
    70K 2013 SURVIVOR (Cabin 2120)
    70K 2014 SURVIVOR (Cabin 2565)

    In perpetual post-cruise depression/pre-cruise anxiety.

Doing my best to be there for 2015.

True dat... But Overkill and Death Angel are relatively big names in thrash... Does Cripper count as thrash? haven't heard them much?

But yea, 2 big power metal names, 1 or 2 classic metal bands, 2 thrash bands, 1 or 2 folk metal ones and some more unknown bands and this lineup is perfect.
