What time did you broad at?

Nice "fix". I broaded at noon i think. we had a ton of leftover alcohol at the condo we rented and needed to polish it off

Nice. I did that on 2012 as well. I was 7 or 8 beers in when I got onbroad and I was just done at the forum meet up party. Lasted all night though! :wank:

    Good question.

We're up to 70 'tips' now.

Anyone know if the CRAYOLA room is still there ?

    60. Bring something from your country/state (alcohol, candies...) to the beach party. I made a lot of friends just giving away shots of mezcal to random people there. I also got offered A LOT of foreign alcohol and beers (Belgium beer, some weird candy, Finnish alcohol, Puerto Rican rum, Brazilian cachasa, a delicious German beverage that tasted like nutella, Spanish sangria... And some others that I can't remember).

In other words: DO take the free candy and liquor from the dark clothed strangers on the beach

you NEVER need cash. When I swam in the pool I left my stuff on a sunchair I could see from the pool. For the largest majority, we have a pretty honest bunch onbroad and people aren't likely to mess with your things. Of course, I still left my valuable stuff locked in my cabin...

All the kids areas are pretty much closed down for the cruise. This of course means the small arcade is usually empty so no need to fight over the games. :D Pretty sure I remember checking out the crayola room on one of the cruises. The lights were off and nobody was in there.

The ONLY time you might need cash is in the casino - so leave the cash in your cabin.
You add the tips for the waiters to the receipt you get - so everything is done with the seapass.
You don't need to bring your own towel to the pool, there is a towel station where they swipe your seapass as a deposit measure and when you return the towel they swipe it again. IF you don't return the towel I think the cost is $25 (added to your seapass). Meaning - you just bought the fricking thing.
To be honest - and I assume you are a guy - you don't need a towel. The weather is nice, the sun is hot, airdry!

The seapass is plastic so you can have it in your pants (most swim wear has that little hidden pocket these days) and it will be fine. Some folks also bring either a hole punch and connect the seapass to a lanyard or have it in those plastic pouches for around your neck.

And like someone already mentioned, leave your camera/shoes on the lounge chair and it'll be fine.

Quick tip for the beach-party on Sunday:

Gals - bring either a box of tissues or a bunch of napkins. At some point during the day you WILL have to pee, so unless you go into the ocean to do your business  there are public bathrooms close by. They are fairly decent but DO run out of toilet paper.

I have heard of people having their shirts and stuff stolen from poolside so don't be too trusty. As for money you only need your room key which can get wet and work fine.

Here's some observations and advice from my one 70000 tons cruise and other cruises out of Miami:

The Miami Airport East LaQuinta isn't cheap but has free transportation to the cruise port (you sign up when you check in and I believe there are 2 or 3 times to choose from, it's first come first serve). They also have a nice free breakfast, the rooms are clean, and there is an outdoor pool. I like being in the pool and watching planes take off almost over head- trying to figure out what airlines the planes are from or countries is a nice game.

For local latin food try the Latin Cafe. I thought it was wonderful and the portions were huge. (down the road from the hotel mentioned above, not sure how far as we drove but they also deliver to the hotel).

Be careful on booking an early shore excursion if our destination is pretty far away. On cruise #2 we booked an early excursion that got cancelled since the old boat couldn't make it to Grand Cayman in time to start our excursion. We just ended up staying on the boat since they had the problem with not enough tender boats that "fit the ship" since the Majesty doesn't usually go to that island. Turned out to be a very relaxing (much needed) day by the pool.

Most cruise ships let you bring a limited amount of bottled water, or canned/bottled soda pop, and even a bottle of wine with you on board. Not sure what the rules are for this ship. It's really nice to have something to drink in your room without having to go up to a bar for it (and pay).

TIP - on the last day don't check out by cabin just take your stuff and walk off.. that was quite a fiasco waiting for your luggage to go round and round on whatever carousel , your already feeling like sad because its over ..and then they make you wait. The nice thing was seeing the band members waiting too :)

My one piece of advice would be to pace yourself. We all know that sleep is bad and partying is a must onbroad, but if you don't pace yourself you'll be sleeping more than you wanted to. My cabinmate this year missed almost a full day of shows because he raged way too hard on the first night. Have a few drinks then a water, a few more drinks then some water, if you do this you'll keep a solid buzz the whole cruise without ever getting belligerent or passing out.

Check to see if the Mini Snack Bar has the items that it supposed to have in the beginning.Last trip ours didn't and I even told cabin attendant about it,he didn't replace missing items and our cabin was charged.Luckily I went down early Friday morning to check and correct. If you have any problems go to the front help desk and don't count on cabin attendents for anything involving charges.Other than that don't be to excited to see band members because you will probably see some of them so many times in 5 days it will be "no big deal" anymore.Pace yourself like others said, especially if you are going to stay up and see a band that is supposed to play at 3:00am or something, these are some of the best shows.

Whats the deal with the beach party during the day/night on the Sunday? I missed it last year (I was too hung over from Vegas) and was thinking of going to Amon Amarth, Enslaved and Skeletonwitch (they are not going to be on cruise) the night before the cruise in Fort lauderdale this time. What to do, what to do.....?????

Yes sunglasses for sure, and sunblock.

But also don't forget to bring something with long sleeves like a hoodie or so. It really cools down some nights!

    A bit of advice.

I don't think it happend to anybody but just incase. If you aren't tipping make sure to but dashes through it,Reason why is someone could easily put you in for a big tip you never made.

Muster drills they don't really pay attention if you are right place so just follow people to the nearest one.Less effort.

Empty fosters can makes great holder for smuggled whiskey for walking around the ship.

Don't rely on friends to carry your bag off the cruise for you.I learned this the hard way.

With Metalwrath, I'm guessing he was in no condition to carry his bags himself

I missed it last year (I was too hung over from Vegas) and was thinking of going to Amon Amarth, Enslaved and Skeletonwitch (they are not going to be on cruise) the night before the cruise in Fort lauderdale this time. What to do, what to do.....?????

Yeah we all go to south beach and drink during the day! Saturday and Sunday this year. Some of us are taking some buses we booked to the shows but they're full. You can message me if you want on the waiting list. We're getting strippers :boobs:  but yeah there should be a carpool list at some point and the city's transit is pretty good. You should definitely go to that show cus a lot of us will be there!

Cool, i'll definitely go to the show and the beach during the day. There's 5 of us flying into Miami that weekend so i'll suss out how we will get there and back. Thanks mate!!!

Some personal/relationship advice that I learned on the first cruise, if you are traveling with friends, there will likely come a time when you both want to do different things (actually happens pretty frequently). Be cool with doing your own thing and your friends/cabinmates doing their thing. Seems like a pretty easy concept but sometimes schedules/interests conflict and I guarantee you'll both be happier if you can split off for a few hours (if necessary) and reconvene with awesome stories.

 It's funny. Usually when I go to fests with friends as soon as the bands start they never see me again until there's a break or the bands are done. It's definitely the best way to get a fuller experience out of a fest I think. Depending if you're more there "for the atmosphere" or if your there to see the bands.

Propbably a dumb question, but just in case:

Is there any problem at the security with bringing a small knife or a Leatherman tool on broad?

No need to carry it around once I'm on the ship, but I never go for any trip without it and so it will be in my luggage.
Things break all the time or are shitty in the first place and need to be jury rigged...

I wouldn't risk it. They confiscate bullet belts, so that gives you an idea.

As for splitting off, I can't imagine NOT splitting off from friends. This will be the first year I've come solo from Winnipeg, although I have a Winnipegger (and Hector) in my cabin! I'm figuring I'll just meet people, sit down at random tables, etc.

Last year was the first time I'd been without my wife. Was a little apprehensive at first, but I ended up just hanging with different friends old and new all the time.

Will be good to be back with the wife again this year - although we probably won't see each other much other than catching up to eat occasionally :P

2012 I went with my brother and I only catch him on breakfast and lunch(some times). I met some fellow brazillians ("brazuca") and made small talk but is almost my single purpose on the boat to attend shows even from bands I don´t like.

    This year I am solo.

this is a rant i wrote in a fit of rage but figured i should share it with you all since we are about 2 weeks out :P

Hello my name is Capt.Oblivious and i am here to share the following tips to make your hotel stay better for both you and your family.

    1) this is for both Ladies and Gentlemen : fiber its your friend eat more of it leading up to the week before your hotel stay and continue eating it while your here. it saves the pain and suffering of literally shitting a brick and it means the hotel staff do not have to plunge your shitty toilet.

    2) Ladies only for this one : everyone knows you use feminine hygiene products stop fucking flushing them your not hiding anything. a tampon is designed to expand ... a lot and if i have to snake another one out of our pipes i am going to scream.

    3) this one is much more vital then the rest and it is for both males and females : treat your hotel front desk person as a human being not as your fucking slave. or if you are going to yell at me have the balls to do it to my face not just over the phone just because face to face i am 5'10" tall and 260ish lbs and when pissed off i can pull off a damn good 1000 meter stare does not mean you were talking to someone else on the phone when i was trying to be kind and diplomatic.

    4) and lastly if someone does have to plunge your shitty toilet TIP THEM!!!!!!! FOR FUCKS SAKE. i do not do this job so that i can get splashed with your shit and have to take a shower after cleaning up for you filthy fucking mongrels.

this has been a public service announcement for your friendly hotel staff please stay here again in the future

They definitely won't allow Leatherman. Ours was taken away but ofcourse we got it back when returned to the port. Because of my electric wheelchair we had just in case a toolset but knife was too much for them. Screwdriver (not the drink) was OK. There's a desk at port of Miami where you can check in stuff that's not allowed.
