After seeing them on friday I would totally be ok with The Tea Party. They have a couple of crappy pop songs to pay the bills but the majority of their songs are really cool oriental type stuff. Some of it was even pretty dark and heavy, almost metal sounding!

I was sooo close to suggesting them. They aren't too well known outside Canada.

For the most part no, except for a little jam at the end when the main guy started jamming out on a single drum.

I have to f*cking move to Canada at some point. This suggestion was unexpected but fun at the same time. Tea Party was fun and interesting to watch. Saw a Canadian band last night (Kobra and the Lotus). They were awesome. And the people from Canada... how on earth do you have so many nice people all in one country. Can't you find something to fight about and hate each other for? No? Awesome. Sign me up. :death:

Some people just should not be allowed to breed. There have been similar stories in the US too with youth sports.

Seriously, I don't want any band which is not metal exept Anathema of course. It's an Metal-Cruise and that's what I like. If I want to see other music I can visit Rock am Ring or such festivals. So please only Heavy Metal.

For me it should be bands that at least go in the direction of metal.

Damn I love it when someone gets a great idea and puts together a well-thought out and clearly worded post but 80% of the responders can't seem to follow the rules

I'm all for Offspring, Rush, Sum 41 and many others mentioned but these are all clearly hard rock of some sort or another.

    I'm going with these:

Loreena McKennitt (that shit late at night on the open seas would just be mind blowing)
    Natacha Atlas
    Amanda Marshall
Great Big Sea (the folk metal fans may not be able to tell the difference) ;)
    Alex Skolnick Trio
    Leonard Cohen
    Willie Nelson
    Richard Cheese
    Beastie Boys
    Eminem

I think anything resembling punk rock probably breaks the rules as well but will throw Dayglo Abortions and a Henry Rollins fronted Black Flag in the mix just for the hell of it :P

And, finally, Taylor Swift. Just so we can all enjoy the song she writes about Joey after the cruise
So far at least, 2011, 2012 & 2015 were enough for me

Punk probably fits into the thread without breaking the rules.

How many votes for "No non-metal bands. This is a metal cruise and I only like metal on it"? Lighten up and take part in the fun.

Damn I love it when someone gets a great idea and puts together a well-thought out and clearly worded post but 80% of the responders can't seem to follow the rules

I'm all for Offspring, Rush, Sum 41 and many others mentioned but these are all clearly hard rock of some sort or another.

    In perpetual post-cruise depression/pre-cruise anxiety.

Doing my best to be there for 2015.

Agreed, if your'e talking Sex Pistols, Black Flag and others but not Sum 41 or Offspring. They're just hard rock with a punk edge or new punk in the vein of Green Day etc. Unless ya dip into the hardcore pool, there's very little authentic 'punk' that's come about in the last 30 years or so.
So far at least, 2011, 2012 & 2015 were enough for me

There are a lot of hard rock & industrial bands I would add. Some of the hard rock bands could be argued either way (Primus, Clutch, etc...). Many of the industrial bands mostly lean to the metallic side (KMFDM, NIN,etc...). I will try to leave these bands out in keeping with the rules.

    Gogol Bordello

    Deadmau5

    Flogging Molly

    Reverend Horton Heat

    Mighty Mighty Bosstones

My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult

    Garbage

    The Hives

    Shiny Toy Guns

    Crystal Method

    Blondie

    The Cars

    Explosions In The Sky
