Seriously! Carcass was the last announcement! So:

    40 Bands - 2 shows each = 80 shows
    14 Bands - 80 show = 5,7 shows each

So prepare to see the hole discography of all 14 bands on the cruise! Fuckin awesome!

I got nervous and canceled my reservation, so I won't be joining you fine folks again. Best of luck!

When I see festivals like MDF releasing information this early on it's easy to compare and get a little nervous... but not enough for me to cancel. THERE'S SIX MONTHS LEFT. Have faith that lots more announcements are coming soon (refer to UMC definition of 'soon', of course).

The cruise is nearly sold out and news comes when it comes, last year we starting booking in early July so news came quicker.I am not worried because their is a lot to deal with and if there was something fishy ,a band who just be signed to announce to keep people on the hook. This
"no news" thing happened every year, just how it is.Also remember that Royal Caribbean is involved as in, they don't want their name harmed in any way nor to they want a ship to fill up at the last minute.Worry when you can book Majesty of the Seas on RC website the week of our cruise.

You need a US visa to play MDF so the bands have to jump though hoops to get to play is US.MDF also need cash to find a new site because the fuck heads who run the city of Baltimore don't want it at the Sonar site anymore.Even though they is no problems or crime with the metalheads who come here ,but the tribes in west Baltimore play target practice with infants ,teenagers ,old people and any one else who gets in the bullets way.I was born and grew up near this dung heap of a city so I can complain, nice having MDF here though. :death:

So zero chance of any news this weekend, for good reason :)

Don't get me wrong, I'm 100% sure everything is fine as usual. But if someone is going to fuck themselves over by cancelling due to lack of announcements, I hope to parlay that into getting more announcements for myself.

Heard about this last night :(. I'd say that someone needs to make him take a serious break so he can be around for years and years to come... but he's pushing 70 with no signs of stopping, at this rate Lemmy's probably going to croak onstage. I trust that the whiskey won't even spill when he finally falls down.

But as far as amount of bands announced THIS late in the game, doesnt this cruise have others beat ? Only 15 or what not ? We wont know the full line up until the day we board probably but it is typical UMC.

By this date (August 4) in previous years:

    2011 cruise - 21 bands announced
    2012 cruise - 15 bands announced
    2013 cruise - 15 bands announced

So surprising as it seems, we are pretty much on par with the previous two cruises announcement-wise.

Sales are going nuts compared to 70K 2013.

Sold out categories are now 60% of the total capacity of the ship.

It was not until about the 10th of January this year that 70K 2013 reached that!!

So its not like there is any incentive for UMC to announce bands. :(

Nah... I kinda like the ability to change my mind only lose 100$ or less until Oct 27th. I'm not letting anything get in my way of attending... but shit can still happen. I don't know how I'll be doing at the end of October financially, for example.

The only problem I have with the current situation is that, I'd got used to UMC being very sporadic with their announcements.

Then Andy responded to all the complaints and said "hey if you want announcements all the time even if there is nothing to announce, FINE, I'll do that".

    And he did.

Look at the Facebook activity for the first 2 months of this cruise's existence. Shitloads of photos on a daily basis, 'coming soon' etc, 10 separate band announcements in April/May.

Then ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AT ALL, for almost 3 months. Andy hasn't even signed into this forum in almost 2 months.

I understand he is doing the festival circuit. I get that. But it doesn't take much effort to sign in to facebook or this forum while doing so - plenty of my friends are doing exactly that :beerwink:

Even a "LOOK AT ME, I'M AT METALDAYS!!" type photo from Andy on Facebook would help appease the angry masses a bit I'm sure. Or maybe a photo from Wacken "Would you like to see [INSERT BANDNAME HERE] on 70k 2014?"

    Just my 2 cents worth.

It has become not funny, and extremely rude. Someone should stop by the Vancouver office and ask if Andy is still alive, since he would NEVER ignore his paying customers the way he is doing!
