Off to a great start. Probably will mean everything else will go smoothly. Our travel was TOO smooth, followed by fuckup after fuckup once we got here.

Yeah Hodgy sorry to hear of the fuck ups! I almost missed my connecting flight. Had no time to eat or piss.. Literally flights from hell. Might skip the pre party to regain my sanity. I asked a stewardess who I had to blow to get to Miami. She was not amused. There are some kids on this plane to Miami wearing Amon Amarth + Ensiferium shirts.

We've just been wandering aimlessly today - seen a lot of metalheads about which is awesome.

Back at hotel resting up now - definitely going to the pre-party tonite. Not too late though as want to be ready to rock tomorrow!!

Anyway - I'll be wearing my Iron Maiden 2008 Australian tour shirt. If you see me, say g'day :trashdrink:

I made it to Miami. Long story, had to miss the pre party sadly. Crashing after a day from HELL. Fear factory were in front of me tonight in line for a taxi. Gene lost MASS weight. Dinio looked like he lost some too.

Cool I never met Band members while waiting for a taxi! I did meet Scissorfight's tour manager while in the security line at Ohare airport a few years ago.
He hooked me up with free passes to their Chicago show .

Yeah, tell me about it. The doldrums of returning to regular life

Still, it was definitely something that we'll all be hated for by all the others that didn't do this, so that's some consolation. And then of course, there was the Jon Schaffer experience

My poor wife's grief counseling session with me starts tonight as I begin to ramble on about every detail of the past four days. I guess this is what it's like to be a drug addict coming off some insane high. Can't say I ever had quite the feeling I did the past 4 days and now today.

With absolutely NO disrespect to all the bands, (who were all almost as perfect as can be in every way), meeting with and hanging with everyone after bonding the past 8-10 months was the best part of the trip for me. The goodbye hugs were brutal & it would have been very easy to just totally lose it there without holding back all the emotions.

I'm still in total awe of this whole experience. Once we got on the boat there was not a hiccup in anything for me or anyone I was with. It boggles the mind that something of this magnitude, size and scope, and the amount of build up it had in all our brains completely EXCEEDED expectations in every way. Nothing, absolutely NOTHING in my lifetime has done that.

Between the elevator moshing, vegemite fist pumping, drunken karaoke and CRAIG becoming a OBITUARY & MARDUK fan, my head is still having a hard time cataloging all of this. (Plus the Corbell's has the best shirts of the entire cruise.) :death:

I don't want this to become "The Event/Cruise of a Lifetime" as I want this to be "The Event of the Year" every damn freaking year and we all get together and just rip it all up again. Not counting my wedding day and birth of my daughter these 4 days were easily the best time I've ever had and I can't thank all of the friends I met/hung out with/etc. enough. I'm hoping this leads to even bigger and better things for all of us going forward (okay, I'm starting to even make myself kinda nauseous now)

    Hey everyone!!!

Kevin, I agree with everything you said! It was great to metal it up with you!!

Craig became Marduk and Obituary fan??

    Sweet!

First 2 times I saw Obituary.... loved them! I will continue to post,... don't want to make a super-long drawn out post at the moment. Great chillin' with everyone!!!!

I liked doing some open mic with Asmegin, Raining Blood!!!!!

I only got to meet Craig once but at least I did (and Rob for that matter)... I think I met all of the main forumers and than some that I have talked to on here with the exception of Viathyn..... where were ya!?!??!?

All in all, I had an AMAZING TIME! Have so many stories... sux coming off of this high. Made many new friends. Finally met idols previously that I had not. Got some great videos, not sure but I may have 2 hours+ of footage of all of the madness!
Kevin thrashing and jumping up and down like a pogo stick with Rob's "Spay and Neuter your Cats" hat during the 2nd Obituary set was CLASSIC! :headbanger: :deathmetal:

Only had 2 hours of sleep last night, still haven't slept... had to shovel my car out and clear all of the snow off of it when I got home.... apparently we in Baltimore received 8-10" of snow.... not too shabby. Also, I think I may have had more to drink last night than I ever have.... the best part is... no hangover! :P

    Talk to everyone sooon!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even after spending 5 minutes to get the correct spelling of NEUTER and not NEUTAR, I then write down NUETER. And thanks to Rachael for NOT pointing this out to me and letting me walk around like a douche for a few hours. That's the last Vegemite Promotional tour I go on for you

My brief summary on the Facebook photo site, re-posted here:

I've got 100s of pictures and videos to share - will have to wait 'til I get back to Australia next weekend though.

Highlights were many - hanging with Jon Schaffer. Kai Hansen pushing (very politely) past us to get up to stage to join Blind Guardian for Valhalla.

Hanging with Isaac of Epica while he was patiently waiting for the doors to open for the second Sonata show was AMAZING though. I mean - they were the main reason I wanted to go on the cruise!!

Anyway - feel free anyone to friend me on facebook, so you can see photos and stuff when I get around to adding them :)

    P.S. TO THAT:

    Getting a Blind Guardian pick.

Missing out on getting a Gamma Ray pick (beaten to it....by someone from the forum!! HAHA) THEN getting back to our cabin, and seeing my lovely wife standing there holding the Gamma Ray pick that she just got!!

Scoring an Epica setlist (taped to the drummer's water bottle!)

Getting photos with guys from my favourite EVER bands. Epica, Sonata Arctica, Iced Earth, Gamma Ray, Sabaton, etc etc.

All brilliant stuff - I have to write all this shit down so I don't EVER forget.

Doing the normal weekend things today felt very strange, like I had been away for months. It was mildly depressing as well.

I'm having a hard time adjusting back to "normal life". The wife has to keep telling me to calm down with the "F Bombs" (we do have a 7 year old in the house). But I was so used to just yelling Hail of Fucking Bullets, Go Oilers Fuck the Islanders, Pungent Fuckin Stench and a barrage of other idiotic statements in the hallways, at breakfast/dinner 50X per day, my brain doesn't want to let it go.

Also, what's up with having to prepare your own meals and cleaning up the mess ? I got music I have to see/listen to, I'm not doing that menial task.

Well, I just arrived home a few hours ago. Boy, talk about coming down. I've been trying to nail down a good analogy, and I think Kevin P's is the one. I feel like my senses just aren't being stimulated the way they were for that week and it's quite a downer!!! I live in a pretty isolated area and don't have social stimulation like that hardly ever anymore, either. As I watched the sea of band T-shirts thin with each flight on my way back home it made me so sad! I had such an awesome time and loved meeting all you that I did -- which was most of the regular forumites I think.

I'm happy to see everyone's coming back to the forums to chat -- I think it will be an important part of our "reentry" therapy!

Did anyone send a big F-U to all the naysayers on Blabbermouth yet?

what's that line about success is the best revenge? I'd say 70K was quite the success!

Couldn't agree more, but those 'tards are the farthest thing from my mind right now. I would just love to see their comments once the 2nd cruise is announced. But then again, I won't care then either.

I really hope this becomes a yearly event. It's just too great of a thing not to. I met some awesome people on this cruise, and it felt so good to hang with those who love these bands as much as I do. I just kept flashing back to being 15 years old (in 1989) and listening to Sanctuary over and over again, wondering what it'd be like to meet them, ask them about their songs, and see them perform live. I finally got to do that... This was really a dream come true.

    Feelin' the metal love,
    Val

If you were drunk when we hung out you pulled it off rather fabulously, cause you seemed normal and coherent to me

Yeah, not shit. I couldn't stop running into you! I knew you were drunk. I think I only saw Kent once on the ship, but at least we got to hang out a bit in Miami before the cruise.
