They usually have 1-2 pseudo black metal bands.

With behemoth already booked, they will still probably get 1 or 2.... but if black metal is the only thing you like, this may not be the cruise for you.

Generally, genres like thrash, power, folk, traditional, and melodic death are pretty well represented. Stuff like black, prog, grind, etc (ie; the ones with a more limited global following) don't usually have too many bands on the boat.

If Andy is planning on bringing back more bands from the Barge, Kampfar and Mayhem would be fucking killer!

Hopefully sooner or later for all these bands. I mean, every single one of them has been requested (and moreso lately due to none having played the cruise before), and all would be realistic additions both budget and style-wise (except ne obliv... bringing a bunch of guys from Australia is super duper expensive, but hopefully that whole crowdfunding thing means that they could be on continent around the same time...)

I would say though that out of your list my preferred ranking would be

Ne Obliv (Never seen before; love them)
Borknagar (Never seen; like them)
Kalmah (Seen before; think they have stupid personal views; like their music though)
Powerwolf (Never seen; Mildly enjoy the music; whole schtick and style gets old immediately)

What are their personal views?

I'm not sure if I agree about Powerwolf, but I haven't listened to them much, to be honest.

I've seen Powerwolf three or four times live and their shows are killer. If you like their music, you'll most definitely enjoy their shows.

Exactly 3 years after their farewell performance onbroad 70000TONS OF METAL in January 2012 we are proud to announce the band’s return!

It will all begin with 70000TONS OF METAL, The World's Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise, sailing to Jamaica in January 2015.

GOD DETHRONED front man, Henri Sattler, explains:

"In early 2011, I was facing two options: one was to announce a break, and the other option was to quit the band. I definitely needed time away from it all, and having a break wasn't reassuring enough to know if I would be able to recharge the batteries for another go."

"Oddly enough it was at the funeral of the man who discovered us in the first place that I came to realize the story wasn't finished yet. So here we go again. Don't think you will be able to see us playing every club for weekends on end. We will only play a small selection of shows and this won't happen before 2015. Besides that, the core of the band will consist of only Michiel and myself. We'll have some cool guest musicians lined up, though, to make sure we'll give you the best performance possible.

Last but not least, our first shows will be where we played our last ones three years ago. Our rebirth will happen onbroad 70000TONS OF METAL 2015. See you onbroad!"

So yeah, I guess I gotta join the lame club too cuz I just listened to the entire Passiondale album and really liked a lot of it. I guess I didn't do my research very well 3 years ago and wrote these guys off as typical Black metal after a cpl random samples. I see now they're actually blackened death with a lot of real strong melodic guitar work. Will definitely check out a set or two depending on scheduling.

Wondering which albums their well-versed fans would recommend based on my preference for the more melodic, less black/more death fan such as myself. Thnx

Oooooh, I approve of both new additions!

I saw Napalm Death about a month ago, but the venue was pretty shit. I also had to leave the set a bit early to grab the last train back. Seeing them on the ship will be muuuuuch better. I bet the band members are pretty cool guys, too.

God Dethroned: I recognize the band name but don't know much about them. Still, I've pulled them up on YouTube and am enjoying what I'm hearing so far.

God Dethroned is a nice add and I'd probably catch both sets. Napalm Death is ok while too punk for my taste, but I've seen them like thirty times over the years - and I'm not even a fan of them.
Of the last three announcements the Statsman announcement is the best one.
