Glad to see another announcement! I'm hoping it won't all be screamy/throaty stuff from now on though. More diversity would be much appreciated. Bring on the melodic /symphonic /power metal!

Melechesh is definitely at least a one-setter for me, maybe two. I've heard them in the past but haven't listened to them much since, although my work buddy was asking me if I'm into them like a week ago. Time to make somebody jealous... :headbanger:

I really like this announcement. I'm checking out their stuff right now. More, please!
Top Picks: Allegaeon, Angelus Apatrida, Arkona, At the Gates, Chthonic, Devin Townsend, Down, Eluveitie, Enabler, Ex Mortus, Exodus, Eyehategod, Finntroll, Havok, Hypocrisy, Iced Earth, Ihsahn, Kreator, Nervosa, Nylithia, Rotting Christ, Sabaton, Sodom

Couldn't agree more but glad to see an announcement that's making others happy. Would pop in for a song or two if there was nothing else going on but that's not likely to be the case. Keep 'em coming Andy! Lots left to go :headbanger:
So far at least, 2011, 2012 & 2015 were enough for me

This is certainly at least one setter for me. Saw Melechesh on the tour with Septic Flesh and Krisiun a couple years ago. Thy tour, but they don't really come through the states that often, so for me this is a pretty good add. I'm loving the overall heaviness of this years' lineup.

Really can't see a BTH happening at all in the future, with the bands that seem to be playing but have not been announced mostly BTH type bands also.I always thought that these bands didn't like being on 70k because they didn't have enough similar bands/guys to hang out with.Dark Funeral didn't appear to enjoy the cruise much,Satyricon same in 2014.But if a lot of these bands knew the others where playing maybe more came. And also UMC has decided to make sure to not get anything from my wishlist that I would enjoy the most in the heavier bands.

    Well said.

I could be wrong as I don't know him personally, but I get the impression that the skipper himself prefers the heavier bands.

Which is probably why he did "Barge to Hell" instead of a "Ride to Rainbows" or "Longship to Valhalla" :P

I'm not complaining though - I fully expect him to throw some scraps to the weenies in the next few weeks similar to last year when we got things like Haggard, Gloryhammer, Freeedom Call and Bonfire in the final weeks.

So if we end up getting things like Amaranthe, Gamma Ray, Sonata Arctica, Serenity, The Sirens and Eluveitie off the rumor list along with 1 or 2 surprises, I would be beyond satisfied :)

Not a big fan of Melechesh but that song Andy linked is awesome. I like Brutal and Weenie stuff so as long as we get some quality bands in whatever type of metal I'm good :headbanger: Would love to see a decent Symphonic Metal / Female Fronted band announced but aka Sirenia!!

Indeed - we've always had at least one 'big' SYMPHONIC female fronted band (Therion doesn't really count):

    2011 - Epica
    2012 - Nightwish, Tristania
2013 - Delain, Lacuna Coil, Doro (not sure she counts :P)
    2014 - Leaves' Eyes, Xandria

So 2015? Most of the above are ruled out except Nightwish and Tristania. Amaranthe are a solid bet. Hoping there will at least be one other besides them - Sirenia, Serenity, Pythia, Revamp, Within Temptation, Diabulus in Musica, Sleeping Romance, Ancient Bards, Dalriada, Trillium. There are plenty out there to choose from !

Well he used the term "exciting news" ,I think that if there where some big surprise left, it would not be a band but something that would be positive for everyone. So I think a food and beverage credit added for all cruisers could fill the bill .This ship has a lot more "costs extra to eat places" ,so if you don't drink you could get a fancy dinner or something.Another possibility is the ability to buy a "wine and beer" package.Standard beers included and you could pay $1-3 dollars more for the special beers.

Plus with some kind of credit ,he could finally reward repeat cruisers. You could get say $20 extra for every cruise you went on ,so 5 timers would get a credit and an extra $100 to spend.Royal Caribbean might want to do this just to keep as much of the ship open as possible(specialty eating places ).Each year we got more of the normal cruise ship add-ons,last year they even advertised the Diamond buying program at the port.I think that was the first time they did that on the cruise.

UMC / RC will save a lot of money because of the low fuel prices.
The oil price has decreased more than 50% since August 2014, and this boat needs a lot of it

In the Terms & Conditions they reserve the right to make a extra charge of up to 10USD (person/day).
Maybe they do it the other way around and give us something back. I would appreciate a 100$ onboard credit :D

I'm a little bit confused about the "exciting" news. He didn't mention that this are "good" news ;)

Terms & Conditions: 8. Fuel Supplement

The Cruise Fare does not include fuel supplement charges. “Fuel Supplement” shall mean any additional charge to defray a portion of Royal Caribbean’s fuel costs. The amount of fuel supplements and government fees and taxes collected are subject to change. Royal Caribbean reserves the right to charge a fuel supplement of up to USD 10.00 per person per day, without prior notice, in the event that the price of West Texas Intermediate fuel exceeds USD 65.00 per barrel. Royal Caribbean may collect any fuel supplement in effect at the time of sailing, even if the cruise fare has been paid in full. More information about Fuel Supplements can be found here:http://www.royalcaribbean.com/contentPage.do?pagename=fuel_supplement

On the subject of female fronted bands, yes, we most definitely lack in them. And the correct term is girlie metal. Arch Enemy and the likes aren't girlie bands, even if they have a female vocalist.

As for the lineup being a tad more on the extreme metal side, yes, there seems to be a lot of semi-brutal bands onbroad. What we need now is both ends of the spectrum (weenie/girlie bands and some proper death and black metal).

And we really need a doom metal band or two. My Dying Bride would be an awesome repeat.
