Speedy wins the internetz today. That is indeed a gorgeous owl. :D

Honestly couldn't give two craps about the Superb Owl game...and the majority of 70K's clientele, being from outside the U.S., won't either. Still, it's a nice gesture and one which U.S.-based cruise lines are used to providing.

Just to mention that I, as a girl, prefer manly bands over girly bands, because: eyecandy... :P

    Also: not caring for superbowl.

But a few more female fronted bands would be great. Preferably something like black or melodic death metal with female front... :D Gothic metal is also ok. :metalguy: :bmhorns:

Hopefully there are still some bands playing during the game or somewhere to escape from it and have a few brews without having to watch the game or hear it in the background.

Well now you've described it THAT way, it sounds way more exciting than I remember... and I still wouldn't watch it.

I don't give a damn about Superb Owl but I still think that's a great initiative. Back in Europe, Metalfest Open Air Austria 2011 coincided in time with the final of the Champions League, where my beloved FC Barcelona was playing. It was a big deal for me to miss that match. The organization, however, decided to stream the match live on one of the tents. Best idea ever... I could watch Scar Symmetry and then the second half of the game in a great atmosphere with loads of people, and I'll never be thankful enough to the guys who made that possible.

So yeah, I think that's a great idea for the handegg fans.

Super Bowl Party probably brings the casino quite a bit of money. It's a huge betting event. I love watching football, but unless the Patriots are in it there will probably be other priorities on the ship (if we make it on the next cruise). Hopefully they pull out a few grills and have some tailgate food available.

It is on day 4? Correct?
Besides last year where I was playing catch up I am usually ready for something different on the last day. This will bring a couple hours of something else and if you do not wish to watch then don't watch. Their are 4 stages on the boat. I am pretty sure some sort of bands will be on one of them. Besides us, I am pretty sure some of the crew may enjoy a break from some of our noise.

Royal Caribbean pays a fee to the NFL to rebroadcast the games on it's ships.I am not sure if this automatically comes on a charter boat.UMC might have had to pay for this ,so at least people will know they can watch the game.Royal Caribbean ships don't have Sports Books ,so no betting can be done.If the boat went to somewhere with one ,people could bet on the game and get their winnings mailed to them,so that would be interesting.

for me SB weekend is important. Maybe this year I will be a late addition.

If the lineup it is not "brillant" by august/september I will make my mind starting the playoffs.

And guys, lets cut the crap about asking for bands. You know the "drill" and Andy likes his boat half full......

I'm perfectly fine with the Zzzzzuper Bowl, if that means bands are still playing in that time-slot and there's more space at the front to watch them.

Oh, and 40 bands is enough as long as they're good ones (for my completely biased tastes and opinion).

I think 60 bands works better for everyone, there's more chances that one person finds more bands of his/her taste, in the end most of us have different preferences and the more bands the more likely you will get some of your wishlists included. With proper distribution one can watch most of the bands one wants, some even twice

Yes. We've discussed this topic quite a few times here already, but it still amazes me how anyone would think 40 bands is better than 60. That's just retarded. More is more. Ok, sure, if you're only interested in the most successful or the most mainstream 5% of metal bands, the less bands is probably better for you, but then again, I don't think such people are quite the right clientele for 70k.

I wish I had the awful situation of having to skip bands I want to see because there's too many good bands on the cruise. Well, book the entire Neurotic Deathfest and Female Metal Event lineups, and I'd be pissed having to miss quite a few must-see bands.

Considering the dates of the cruise next year, this makes me realize that they are not late with announcements.
    Can't wait for them, though!!!

Andy always gives us a silent period of time with no bands at all.

I'm hoping this year he decided to do this right at the start, so we won't have those eternal periods where people just bitch about the lack of bands and all the stuff we are used to.

btw, i have no interest in the super bowl, but if you make a 70K during July 2018, i'll be glad to watch the world cup finals onbroad :beerwink:

I'd be happier if Andy would at least give us one band a week (with 60 bands and only 52 weeks in the year he could even hold out 8 bands till the end) , but Andy has his own flare for silence (because I think he likes the bitching  )

It is what it is, I just wanna be back on the boat  :beerhorns:

Yep. For many people on the boat who hail from countries where metal tours are rare or even nonexistent (I'm lookin' at YOU, Australia, Uzbekistan et al), seeing ANYONE is like metal nirvana. If you're going to shell out a crapload of money to book this cruise, 60 bands is a really BIG deal.

    Yeah, what's up with that?

It'd be nice if the delay was due to booking more big-name "marquee" bands up front, to generate the buzz that he really NEEDS....but I'm being overly-optimistic.

2015 was the year for 2012 repeats
11 acts from the 2012 cruise, 4 from 2011, 4 from 2013 and 3 from Barge to hell.

2014 was the year for 2011 repeats
10 acts from the 2011 cruise, 3 from 2012 and 2 from Barge.

Does that mean the bulk of repeats on 2016 will come from the 2013 cruise? If so, I'll take Lacuna Coil, Sabaton, LMO, Helloween, Gotthard, Tyr, and Delain please :D

If we're getting a boatful of bands from the 2013 cruise, I'd appreciate these: Anaal Nathrakh, Delain, Immolation, Nile and Sinister.

Damn, were those really the only two-setters in 2013? That lineup was horrible!

There's a full page ad in the latest Scream Magazine. Nothing new, but it's the first time I've seen the dates (04.-08.02.) stated directly instead of having to calculate from the countdown.

I happen to know that the ONE person from Uzbekistan on the last ship (I think the first one ever?) would really, really like some Eluveitie. And I support her wish 100%. :viking:

I'm not quite ready to bitch about the announcements yet. Last year, I think it took me until after the summer festival season to start getting cranky about it. This time around, if I don't know anything new by after Maryland Deathfest, that's when I'll bring out the pitchfork.

I'd be more than happy to get some repeats from 2013. Too bad some bands are getting worse and worse and I lost all interest in them (In Flames, Turisas), but having Evergrey, Helloween, Angra and especially Sabaton would be awesome.

I heard from an Aussie that Perth often feels left out, though. I still reckon that they get more shows than people actually stuck in the Stans.

Rare? Nonexistent? A bit like your research. ;)

I heard from an Aussie that Perth often feels left out, though. I still reckon that they get more shows than people actually stuck in the Stans.

Perth is left out because ticket sales are generally woeful. Combine that with the cost of transporting the bands and equipment, it just doesn't make financial success. Heck, even Taylor Swift wont go to Perth.
