Nervosa 12
Twilight Force 11
Star Kill 5
Abinchova 4
Koi K Utho 3
No Raza 3
Sklamold 1
Looks like it's a battle between the power metal fans and the thrash fans for the cripper award. If the award was divided into categories, we would have our two clear winners :)

I didn't see Nervosa because I don't care for that kind of Metal, but it seems both bands did really good performances and the voting feels a bit like "do you prefer Power Metal or Thrash Metal?" because of that.

Absolutely agree with that, and I'm from the other end of it. I didn't see Twilight Force because Power Metal is not my thing. I think most years breaking it into categories wouldn't make much sense, but this year might be an exception.
I propose that if it comes down to these two in close vote, I say we declare them both winners. This is a community award so we can make the rules what we want if we are all in relative agreement

Fuck that. No ties allowed. What's next? A participation award? someone please design that. I prefer a fight to the death in the hot tub next year for a tiebreaker.

You kinda have a point there. Lets look at the (BROAD) genres of each of the 10 bands nominated:
Power Metal - Twilight Force, Squealer
Folk Metal - Abinchova
Death Metal - Dia De Los Muertos, No Raza, Painful
Melodic Death Metal - Starkill
Thrash Metal - Distillator, Nervosa
Industrial - Koyi K Utho
Unknown band with a famous drummer Metal - Dead Cross
So you could almost say there are really only 3 bands to choose from for those that like the lighter side of metal, and 8 for those that like the heavier stuff, thus dividing the voting. Therefore in this case the odds are stacked in Twilight Force's favour.
But Nervosa seem to have a lot more 'fans' generally speaking - even though both bands have almost the same number of Last.fm listeners (6,000), Nervosa have almost 165,000 "likes" on Facebook compared to Twilight Force's 8,000! So its probably just levelling the playing field a bit that Twilight Force have less 'similar' competition.
Not sure why the huge difference in facebook likes to listeners there - better marketing? The fact that they are all female? Who knows!

No Raza 15
Distillator 6
Koyi K Utho 5

total of 120 votes - probably one of the highest yet for the award (sorry none of these count)
good luck to the winner
