    Setlists

    by Kingslayer » Fri Jan 08, 2016 8:01 pm

Is there any way to tell what the bands' setlists might approximately look like, other than a couple posting them a few days before we set sail?
    2016: 9231
    2017: 6521
    2018: TBD

Wishlist: Amon Amarth, Candlemass, Devin Townsend Project, Doomsword, Ex Deo, Gloryhammer, Grand Magus, Hypocrisy, King Diamond, Nile, Powerwolf, Running Wild, Septicflesh, Steel Panther, Unleash The Archers

Best bet is to look for the band in question on setlist.fm.

Find their recent setlists there and you'll have some idea of what to expect.

    For example, Epica:

Just look at what any of the bands have been playing recently, that's what they have practiced and probably won't deviate much.

You may get surprised. Seen much deviations in my 4 cruises. Many bands play slightly different second show & sometime they invite guests.

There's both, Helloween and Doro did the exact same set twice even including the "fun" comments in between.
Sabaton played their 2nd set mostly in Swedish, Blind Guardian did 2 completely different sets with 75 minutes each (technically they played Valhalla in both sets, but there is no Blind Guardian set without Valhalla) and so on.
Bands that play a different set the second time around usually highlight it during their first set to get people coming back.

It's really gonna vary between bands.
Some bands will just be lazy and play the exact same set and then lie and say 'it's incase anybody missed the first show'
Rule of thumb these days for bands is play 3-4 songs off new album and drop some of your oldest songs and play 'the usual hits'

Bands like Blind Guardian get away with playing very different sets because they don't have just 10 or so very popular songs like a lot of bands.A lot of their material is equally loved. So it gives them more flexibility in setlists and at the same time the audience isn't dissapointed.
