I'm kind of preferring the silence actually, it's made the last couple of months fly by. Last year we were getting tiny breadcrumbs all spring which led up to announcing the sailing date, location, Super Metal Sunday party etc......in hindsight all of those little semi-non announcements made the whole process seem to drag on forever.

This year we got all of that stuff out of the way during the Skipper's speech on the last night. I am totally fine with not hearing anything at all for another month or two and then all of a sudden we get the first band announcements and booking info out of nowhere. The Canadian dollar also seems to be rallying a little bit, I am hoping that this trend will continue all the way up until booking time. If the dollar starts to drop again though then I will definitely start losing patience though and hope for earlier announcements so I can get booking out of the way before the dollar totally tanks again.

I feel the same way - the longer the initial announcement takes to come, the less time there is between then and the set-sail date

Also if I'm going to go in 2017 it will have to at least in part be covered by whatever tax refund money I get, and I wont get that until mid July.

My problem is that I already have received my tax refund money. The longer the delay, the greater the chance that money will be spent on other things.

I'm enjoying the silence too. Especially since we just moved into a new place so I wouldn't mind some more time to recover from the expenses of that.

At my current workplace, I have trouble getting holidays out of the "normal" holidays (easter, summer, christmas) and I just got a couple days accepted for Graspop, so I'm also happy with the silence. The later I ask for holidays for 70K, the greater chance I have of them being approved :)

Still think we are weeks away from an announcement.

Looking back on last year, there was a "Brace Yourselves" post on the 70k Facebook on 4th June, then a post citing "In anticipation of what is going to be revealed over the coming days" on 23rd June, followed by first announcements and promo codes being sent to veterans on the 25th of June.

None of the posts thusfar on social media have really hinted at things ramping up yet, so I'm thinking we are still another month away.

Having followed this for the first time last year it seems the only consistency is inconsistency. I won't be shocked if we get a series of teasing, vague Facebook posts, followed by months of silence and then an announcement or if the first ten bands are announced in the next fifteen minutes with zero fanfare.
