Am I missing something? I've seen a few people saying the next band is Goatwhore like it's common knowledge. I don't see anything on the artists page?

And his death metal voice has gone down from the absolute best one in the business to a complete joke now.
It's OK to evolve, I don't like their stuff since Heritage, but I commend them for not milking the cow and repeat the same album over and over. But please, if you don't put any passion in the older stuff live, just stop playing it.

The riff that kicks in at 2:04 honestly might be my favorite of all time.

Last year, they did the special Deliverance set in LA, and played 3 of the heavier songs from the album (Deliverance, By the Pain I See in Others, and Master's Apprentice). All of them sounded crushing. If they had no interest in playing the old heavier songs, I can't see why they would go out of their way to play a special set of Deliverance songs. I also heard they covered Napalm Death at a recent festival.

By The Pain I See In Others live...10-15 years ago, I would have killed to see it. And Deliverance is my favourite album, it's got a dark atmosphere that is unmatched in their discography.
But there is no question that Mikael's death metal voice is completely shot, any live video will show it. And I've seen him a lot of times too, probably around 15 times (only two times since Heritage came out), with their 2001 tour for Blackwater Park being the best show ever in my whole life - it even had Katatonia opening, with Last Fair Deal Gone Down just out.
So, seeing them now, and remembering how it was 15 years ago (with Martin Lopez on drums ) isn't exactly helping. And it's a shame in a way, because the guys are all killer musicians

I was just thinking The Ocean might be a possibility considering that clue. Granted sludge/post-metal has almost never been included in previous line-ups so it could be a stretch. I'd be happy to have them on board. How many requests did they get though, they aren't in the top 100 of the wishlist.

I've been seeing them every tour since 2002. While I liked the setlist more back then, I still enjoy watching them play just as much as back in the day. Even the newer stuff sounds way better live to me. Just my opinion though.
As far as the boat goes. Axenrot was on with Bloodbath last year and so was Katatonia. They all enjoyed the experience and perhaps they had good things to say about it with Akerfeldt. It is probably a stretch though, yes.
