If you're right and they've sold ~964 cabins they're almost sold out.
Yes but the TOTAL PERSONS ON BOARD this year was 5,509 including bands, their crew and ship crew.DudeBro wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2019 10:56 pmIf you're right and they've sold ~964 cabins they're almost sold out.
Last year they had 3092 guests, the year before was 3087. I assume there's at least 2 people in each cabin (~2000/3000). If there's an average of 3 in each cabin they're pretty much done selling tickets. No wonder we don't see much movement.

And while I don't think ships crew cabins are included in the cabin count, the cabins for musicians would be.
So you would be talking about this year 4,128 being the figure in question. So I would ballpark figure say the ship is around 60-70% full at present.
I haven't been paying attention to sales in previous years, but I'm thinking this is slow and the slow band announcements aren't helping. King Diamond would be huge, I'm not expecting it, but I'd love that. I'm thinking it'll be something like Kreator.Cardest wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 2:04 amAH!cowboy71 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 12:44 amYes but the TOTAL PERSONS ON BOARD this year was 5,509 including bands, their crew and ship crew.DudeBro wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2019 10:56 pm

I came over here to have a sticky beak, curious to see how much cabins are moving, since the Devin announcement.
We're 20 bands in so far, 40 to go. If we're still only 60-70% sold so far, is this the quickest, slowest sales so far at this stage?
What band(s) could bring more sailors, I wonder?!
K - King Diamond, I am sure would snap up the remaining cabins.
Nothing worthy of updating the count
Pure speculation - could be as few as 20 cabins left, or as many as 700.
Now those are some **hard** stats.
Oh, Andy's announcing bands....but at this stage, well into public sales and with no chance of people using a payment plan through UMC, he is going to have to bust out some drop-dead amazing names to get people to book. I'm talking Blind Guardian-level bands, or higher.
Currently according to the 70K app stats the top 10 bands are:
Or not putting people onbroad, if in fact we're only 70% sold out.
--Exactly.BUT, that could be also attributed to the fact that there isn't any HUGE names in Power (Axxis and Bloodbound while awesome, are hardly Blind Guardian/Iced Earth level names).

Total Cabins, by my count: 1961
Total Cabins, according to cruisedeckplans website: 1918
Total Cabins in sold out categories: 1259
**Previously sold out. Only 1 or 2 left.
I don't think it matters this late in the game. Most people have booked that are going. Cabins will continue to sell at a very slow pace at this point no matter who is booked. It's just too late for most people to plan a trip. The late announcement certainly is hampering sales this year because the lineup is pretty good so far. I think there is a bit of cruise overload going on too. There's only so much money people have to do these things.Pellaz wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2019 3:26 pmOr not putting people onbroad, if in fact we're only 70% sold out.--Exactly.BUT, that could be also attributed to the fact that there isn't any HUGE names in Power (Axxis and Bloodbound while awesome, are hardly Blind Guardian/Iced Earth level names).
I like power metal fine (except for the really cheesy stuff) but my true allegiances are to melodeath, folk, death, black etc. So, the lineup is fine from my perspective.... However, it's pretty clear we need a really big marquee name or two from the power metal realm -- and also from thrash -- to put 70K over the top...and we haven't seen one yet.
I agree. VERY FEW people could, at christmas time, pull out the several thousand dollars required for flights, accommodation, food, booze, and of course the cabin(!), no matter WHO gets announced.SavaRon wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 2:38 pm I don't think it matters this late in the game. Hopefully this doesn't affect future sailings, but does get 70000tons ass in gear when it comes to announcing everything.
Tampa is around 300 miles from Miami. If anything it it will pull some people away from Miami. I don't think it will be an issue at all next year.metalforever wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2019 7:48 am In 2021 the Superbowl remains in Florida , this time Tampa , could have possible ripple affects for cruise , even with further distance .
Yep. And that's worrisome.slayergeek wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2019 7:38 am I also think they are going to ensure that this late start shit doesn’t happen again.
If it was just the cruisers bitching, they could live with that easily enough, but now it’s looking that this is going to result in the bottom line being effected.
So much depends on how many cabins are actually sold, and the answer is impossible to know.As long as this cruise does well enough to warrant a round 11, hopefully this will wind up being ‘lesson learned’ and nothing more serious.
After August 31announcements for 2019 and how late things kicked off this year, I actually don't believe that. I will when I see it.slayergeek wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2019 7:38 am I also think they are going to ensure that this late start shit doesn’t happen again.
Isn't it more likely that further editions of those cruises were canceled by the promoter, after not receiving a big enough return on their investment? It is hard to imagine that the cruise line refused to charter the boat for those events again, if they were paid in full the first time.Pellaz wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 12:22 amYep. Statsman guesstimates the cruise is about 70% sold out. Is that enough for a break-even, or a profit? Is it enough to convince Royal to continue? After all, Prog Nation at Sea AND Barge to Hell were dropped due to lack of sales, and contractually the cruise line had already been paid in full for the charter.
Making an additional 10% on let's say... 25% of the cabins sold, isn't going to make up for 25% of the cabins being empty. Not even close. They didn't learn anything after last year because 2019 still sold out. If they lose money this year, it is hard to imagine that things wouldn't change.Phoenix wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 7:38 amAfter August 31announcements for 2019 and how late things kicked off this year, I actually don't believe that. I HOPE so though. I hope that the 74-99% sold out range at this late juncture is enough to give UMC a kick in the pants - but I'm worried that it's enough newer cruisers this year that they don't care. So many Golds and Silvers bailed - it's too early in the morning to try that math, but if it's enough they might have made a comparable amount of money already.
I'm guessing the profit margin for the cruise isn't great, so even losing 10% of the sales would be bad. That is hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost revenue. Up that to 25% and their take is probably close to a million less. Every sale counts big time for something like this.Downvod wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 2:03 pmMaking an additional 10% on let's say... 25% of the cabins sold, isn't going to make up for 25% of the cabins being empty. Either way, it's a lose-lose proposition. (I should clarify by adding the chartering company to the list, as PNAS was cancelled by Sixthman, not the cruise line per se.)Downvod wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 1:50 pmIsn't it more likely that further editions of those cruises were canceled by the promoter, after not receiving a big enough return on their investment?
